To use Gemini 4 Argon inside Google Search’s AI Mode, sign in to a Google account with a Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscription, meet Google’s 18-or-over requirement, open AI Mode, and select Argon when it appears. Access is rolling out and can differ by country, account, age verification, and rollout status.
Who can use Gemini 4 Argon in Search AI Mode?
Google’s 13 October 2026 launch announcement says Gemini 4 Argon is available in Search AI Mode to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers. Google Search Help specifies that the AI Mode experience is restricted to people aged 18 and over. Having a subscription does not guarantee immediate visibility: Google can gate the model by region, account, age status, or the stage of its rollout.

Argon is positioned for complex, multi-step work rather than only short factual answers. Google highlights coding, finance, legal analysis, cybersecurity, and scientific tasks among its intended uses. Koray Kavukcuoglu, Google DeepMind’s SVP and chief AI architect, described the launch as giving “developers, enterprises, scientists, and consumers access to our latest frontier model.”

- Sign in to the eligible Google account. Use the account that holds your Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscription. Confirm that the account’s age information meets the 18-and-over requirement.
- Open Google Search and enter AI Mode. Use the AI Mode entry in Search rather than a standard results page. The exact placement can vary as Google updates the interface.
- Look for the model selector. When Argon has reached your account, an Argon option appears in the AI Mode controls or composer.
- Select Gemini 4 Argon before submitting a prompt. If the selector is absent, the account may not yet be eligible in its country or rollout cohort. Check that you are signed in to the subscribed account, then try again later.
Do not assume that changing browsers, devices, or search terms will bypass an account or regional restriction. Those changes can help with a stale session, but Google controls eligibility server-side.

Pro versus Ultra: what is established
Both subscriptions are named by Google as routes to Argon in AI Mode. The official launch and help pages do not publish a complete, stable side-by-side quota table, so the exact number of Argon prompts, context limits, or priority rules should not be inferred.

Can developers use Argon without Search?
Yes. Google documents separate developer and enterprise routes through Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, and the Gemini platform. These are distinct from consumer access in Search AI Mode: an API account does not automatically add the Argon selector to a personal Search account, and a Search subscription is not a substitute for configuring API credentials and billing.
Introductory API pricing
Google lists introductory pricing of $2 per 1 million input tokens and $10 per 1 million output tokens. Cached input tokens are priced 95% lower than the standard input rate. Google says this introductory pricing ends after 30 November 2026; confirm the live price before sending production traffic because rates and model availability can change.

What Google claims about Argon’s performance
The launch material reports a more than 35% increase in agentic code submissions and a nearly one-third reduction in code rollbacks. For scientific workloads, Google reports up to 2.3× faster molecular-structure prediction and 1.8× faster conformer search. It also reports a 2.85× end-to-end inference speedup on an A100, increasing from about 37,900 to more than 108,000 tokens per second.
These are Google-reported figures, not independent tests. They describe particular evaluations and hardware conditions, so they should not be treated as a guaranteed speed or quality improvement for every Search session or API workload.

Why Argon may not appear
- Wrong account: You are signed in to an account without an active Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
- Age restriction: The account is under 18 or its age information has not been verified.
- Regional rollout: Google has not enabled Argon for your country or account cohort.
- Staged availability: The feature is still being released, so two eligible accounts may temporarily show different options.
- Interface mismatch: You opened standard Search rather than AI Mode, where the Argon control is provided.
If the option remains missing after checking those conditions, there is no documented user-side switch that forces activation. Keep the Search app or browser current, sign out and back in to refresh account state, and rely on Google’s current eligibility information rather than unofficial workarounds.

Research and specialist access programs
Google says scientists can apply for six months of highest-tier Antigravity access, subject to eligibility, capacity, and selection. It also says additional Fairwind Program cybersecurity partners are being added. These are application or partner programs, not guaranteed consumer benefits, free-access offers, or universal entitlements.
