The fastest documented way to build Bramblin Candy during the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek is to create as many Bramblin encounters as possible through Incense, GO Pass tasks, and event Field Research, then catch every Bramblin you find. Niantic states that catching a Pokémon awards Candy for that species. The event runs in local time from October 13 at 10:00 a.m. through October 19, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
Where Bramblin appears during Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek
Niantic’s official event announcement lists three routes to Bramblin encounters: Incense, GO Pass tasks, and event-themed Field Research. These are encounter routes, not separate Bramblin Candy bonuses. The Candy comes when you catch the Bramblin produced by those routes.

Bramblin is listed among the event Incense encounters in both parts of the schedule:
- October 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. through October 16 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
- October 16 at 10:00 a.m. through October 19 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Because both periods include Bramblin, the announcement does not establish that one period has a better encounter rate than the other. Plan around the time you can play rather than assuming the second period is more productive.

Do not rely on Daily Adventure Incense for this event pool
Daily Adventure Incense is explicitly excluded from the announced Bramblin Incense encounters. If your goal is Bramblin, use the event’s listed Incense route instead of treating Daily Adventure Incense as an equivalent option. The announcement does not promise Bramblin from Daily Adventure Incense.
How encounters become Bramblin Candy
Niantic Help Center documentation states: “Every time you catch a Pokémon of a particular species, you’ll receive Candy for that species.” In practical terms, the Bramblin you encounter through Incense, GO Pass rewards, or Field Research must be caught; merely seeing an encounter does not build your Bramblin Candy total.
Catch every Bramblin encounter you can
- Start an announced event route: use Incense, open your GO Pass tasks, or complete event-themed Field Research.
- When a Bramblin encounter appears, enter the encounter and catch it.
- After the catch, check Bramblin’s summary screen if you want to confirm the Candy total or the remaining amount needed for evolution.
The event materials do not state a fixed Candy amount per catch, so do not plan around an assumed number. Your reliable lever is the number of Bramblin you successfully catch.

An encounter gives you a chance to catch Bramblin, and a catch produces Candy for Bramblin’s species. A generic reward, such as Rare Candy, is not identified in the event announcement as Bramblin Candy. Treat the two reward types differently when deciding which task to pursue.
A practical plan for maximizing Candy before October 19
1. Play during the announced local-time window
The event ends Monday, October 19, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Incense-based Bramblin encounters are announced only through that end time. If you are planning a focused session, schedule it before the local deadline rather than assuming the event remains active until midnight or until a global UTC cutoff.

2. Use Incense while you are available to catch spawns
Incense is the most direct listed way to produce Bramblin encounters on demand during the event. Activate it when you can watch the map and complete catches. The announcement names Incense as a route but does not publish a Bramblin encounter rate, a guaranteed number of encounters, or a preferred Incense duration, so any precise Candy forecast would be speculative.
3. Work through GO Pass tasks instead of leaving rewards locked
GO Pass tasks can lead to event rewards and encounters. Check the task list, complete the requirements shown in your game, and claim rewards as they unlock. The official announcement says GO Pass rewards expire on October 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. That gives you a short post-event window to claim an already-unlocked reward, but it does not extend the announced Bramblin Incense schedule.
GO Pass Deluxe availability may vary by region. If Deluxe is not offered to you, use the GO Pass options displayed in your account and rely on Incense and Field Research as the other documented routes.
4. Check event Field Research for Bramblin encounters
Spin eligible PokéStops and inspect the event-themed Field Research tasks you receive. The announcement says these tasks can reward encounters with Bramblin. Since it does not list every task or guarantee that each task produces Bramblin, read the reward preview in the game before investing time in a task. When Bramblin is the displayed encounter reward, complete that task and catch the resulting Pokémon.
5. Catch before you move on
Once an encounter is available, catch it before changing activities. The Candy is tied to the catch, not to activating Incense, finishing a GO Pass step, or holding a Field Research task. Keeping a simple routine—encounter, catch, confirm the next objective—reduces the chance that you finish the event with unclaimed or missed encounters.

Tracking your target and checking the evolution requirement
Open Bramblin’s Pokémon summary screen to see its Candy total and the Candy requirement shown by the game. Niantic’s support documentation says the Candy needed to evolve is displayed in the Pokémon’s summary, making that screen the authoritative check for your account and current game version.

The reported Brambleghast requirement
A current Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek guide from Leek Duck reports that Bramblin evolves into Brambleghast with 50 Bramblin Candy after walking 20 km with Bramblin as your buddy. That species-specific detail is corroborated by the current event guide, but Niantic’s official event announcement reviewed for this event does not state the 20 km or 50-Candy requirement.
For that reason, verify both conditions on Bramblin’s in-game summary before spending Candy or setting a walking plan. If the summary differs from the guide, follow the in-game requirement shown for your Pokémon.
Set a realistic target
Start by checking how much Bramblin Candy you already have, then compare it with the requirement displayed in the summary. Your remaining target is the difference between those two numbers. Because the event sources do not publish a Candy-per-catch figure or a Bramblin encounter rate, the number of catches required cannot be calculated reliably in advance.
How to choose between the three routes
Use the route that matches the resource and time you have, but remember that all three routes ultimately depend on catching Bramblin to generate Bramblin Candy.

- Choose Incense when you can play continuously and want the event’s explicitly listed Bramblin encounter pool.
- Choose GO Pass tasks when you are willing to complete progression objectives and claim rewards before the October 21 expiry.
- Choose Field Research when you can complete tasks and the reward preview shows a Bramblin encounter.
You can combine the routes during the same event period. The announcement does not say that using one route disables another, nor does it establish a bonus for combining them, so combine them for coverage rather than on the assumption of an undisclosed multiplier.

Niantic’s event announcement says that some event Field Research tasks may award Rare Candy and that Rare Candy is among GO Pass rewards. It does not explain a Bramblin-specific Rare Candy conversion in the event details. Therefore, do not count an event Rare Candy reward as Bramblin Candy when estimating whether you can evolve.
If your game offers a general Rare Candy conversion option, read the current in-game prompt and confirm that it converts to the species you intend before accepting it. The event announcement alone is not evidence that every Rare Candy reward is automatically assigned to Bramblin.
What to do when the event ends
The documented Bramblin availability described here is tied to Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek and ends at the local-time deadlines listed above. The event announcement does not establish a permanent post-event Bramblin encounter route, a recurring spawn schedule, or a later Candy bonus. After the event, check the current in-game Bramblin summary and active event information rather than assuming the same Incense or Field Research pool remains.

Troubleshooting common Bramblin Candy problems
“I used Daily Adventure Incense and did not see Bramblin.”
That result is consistent with the official announcement: Daily Adventure Incense is excluded from the listed Bramblin Incense encounters. Use the event Incense route during the published event window instead.
“I completed a task but received Rare Candy instead of Bramblin.”
The announcement allows for both outcomes. Some event Field Research tasks may award Rare Candy, while event Field Research can also reward Bramblin encounters. Check the reward preview before completing a task; Rare Candy is not the same as a Bramblin encounter and is not identified as automatic Bramblin Candy.
“My Candy total did not increase after a task.”
A task completion and a Pokémon catch are different steps. A Bramblin encounter must be entered and caught before the species-Candy rule applies. If the task granted an item rather than an encounter, no Bramblin catch occurred from that reward.

Confirm that the task is complete, the reward is unlocked, and you are still before October 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. GO Pass Deluxe availability can also vary by region, so your available track may not match another player’s.
“The guide says 50 Candy and 20 km, but my game shows something else.”
Use the Bramblin summary screen as the final authority. The 50-Candy and 20-km buddy-walk requirement is reported by a current third-party event guide, while the official event announcement does not publish that species-specific evolution detail.
