The best encounter window is 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time on each event day, when wild encounter odds are increased and catches award extra Stardust. To expose Minior’s colored Core Form, use it in an eligible battle and reduce its HP to strictly below 50 percent. The announced battle options are Team GO Rocket, team-leader battles, and GO Battle League.
The two steps to getting both Minior forms
Minior’s forms are obtained in sequence rather than through two separate wild encounters:

- Catch Minior during a Minior Shower. Wild Minior appears in Meteor Form, the shell-covered appearance.
- Enter an eligible battle with that Minior. When its HP falls below 50 percent, the shell breaks away and the colored Core Form is exposed.
The Pokémon GO team describes the battle behavior this way: “Minior will battle in its Meteor Form until its health is reduced to below 50%, when it will change its form and expose its core.” The threshold is strict: reaching exactly half health is not the same as going below half health.
How to catch Minior’s Meteor Form
Wait for a Minior Shower event
Minior’s shell appearance is the form you receive from a qualifying wild encounter during a Minior Shower. These are scheduled meteor events, so Minior is not presented as a permanently available ordinary spawn in the event information. Check the current Pokémon GO announcement before planning a trip or using a limited play session, because event dates can change.

Use the boosted evening window
Minior can appear in the wild throughout the published event window, but encounter odds are increased every event day from 5:00 p.m. through 9:00 p.m. local time. “Local time” means the clock in the location where you are playing, not a single worldwide UTC window. If you are coordinating with friends in another time zone, each player should use the evening period shown by their own local clock.
The same official announcement says that catching Minior during the event also awards increased Stardust. The Stardust increase is an event benefit attached to catches; it is not a separate requirement for obtaining Meteor Form.

The recurring schedule lists the following local-time windows. Each starts at 5:00 p.m. on the opening date and ends at 11:59 p.m. on the closing date unless the announcement is updated.

The dates above are the published recurring windows, while the 2026 Orionids date is specifically reported as October 19 at 5:00 p.m. to October 24 at 11:59 p.m. local time. Treat the in-game event listing and the latest official announcement as the final authority for the year you intend to play.

A practical hunting plan
- Confirm the event dates. Look for the current Minior Shower announcement and verify that your intended day is still scheduled.
- Set aside the evening boost. The highest stated encounter odds are from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time on each event day.
- Start before the boost if convenient. Minior is described as appearing in the wild during the event window, while the four-hour period provides increased odds. This gives you a longer opportunity without confusing the general event window with the boosted period.
- Catch the Meteor Form encounter. The shell-covered appearance is the expected form for a wild Minior catch during the event.
- Use the Stardust benefit deliberately. If you are already planning catches for Stardust, the Minior Shower evening window combines the increased encounter odds with the event’s increased Stardust reward.
No physical accessory, collectible, or consumable is part of the announced method. The required actions are playing Pokémon GO during the scheduled event and then using the caught Minior in an allowed battle.
How to reveal Minior’s colored Core Form
Use one of the initially eligible battle types
The announcement initially limits the form change to battles against Team GO Rocket, team leaders, or opponents in the GO Battle League. Choose one of those three contexts when your goal is to expose the core. The announcement does not establish the same trigger for every other battle type, so a different mode should not be treated as a guaranteed method.
Trigger the below-50-percent threshold
- Select the Minior in Meteor Form. Use the Minior you caught during the Minior Shower.
- Enter the eligible encounter. Start a Team GO Rocket battle, a team-leader battle, or a GO Battle League match.
- Watch the HP bar rather than counting attacks. Damage varies by move, opponent, and battle situation, so the relevant condition is the displayed health level.
- Continue until the HP is below 50 percent. The transformation occurs after Minior’s health crosses the halfway point. Exactly 50 percent does not satisfy the wording “below 50%.”
- Confirm the visual change. Minior changes from Meteor Form and exposes its colored core during the battle.
A single attack can take Minior from above half health to below half health; what matters is the resulting HP, not whether several small attacks were used. Conversely, reducing HP close to half without crossing below it will not meet the announced trigger.

What changes when the shell breaks
The form change is also a stat-role change. Meteor Form has higher Defense and lower Attack. The exposed Core Form has higher Attack and lower Defense. In practical terms, the shell form is the more defensive state before the threshold, while the exposed core is the more offensive state after the threshold. This distinction matters inside the battle: Minior’s durability is favored before the shell breaks, and its pressure is favored after the core is exposed.

The published explanation describes the transformation as a battle event. It does not establish a separate item, button, evolution screen, or manual form toggle, so do not look for a form-change command in the Pokémon’s ordinary menu.
Minior’s seven Core colors
The seven colors available in Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO identifies seven Minior Core colors:
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Indigo
- Violet
The shell is the Meteor Form appearance; the color belongs to the core revealed when the battle threshold is reached. Therefore, seeing a shell-covered Minior in the wild does not by itself tell you which core color will be exposed.
Shower-specific debuts and hemispheres
One different Core color debuts during each meteor shower. The schedule therefore affects more than spawn timing: a particular Minior Shower can be the event associated with a newly introduced color.

The official announcement assigns one debut color to the Northern Hemisphere and another to the Southern Hemisphere. The published information does not provide a complete color-to-shower table, so it is not possible to state a verified color for every date or to promise a particular color before a later official update names it.

Players should also avoid treating the seven-color list as proof that every color debuts simultaneously everywhere. The announcement explicitly allows hemisphere-dependent debut timing for the Geminids, and other event-specific color details should be checked against the current event notice.

This comparison separates two questions that are easy to mix up. Event timing determines when you can catch Minior in the wild. Battle damage determines when that caught Minior exposes its core. Waiting for the evening spawn boost will help you find the Pokémon, but it will not reveal the core by itself.
Troubleshooting common problems
“I cannot find Minior outside the four-hour boost.”
The 5:00–9:00 p.m. period is the stated increased-odds window, not the entire event definition. Minior is described as appearing in the wild during the scheduled Minior Shower, with encounter odds increased during those four hours. If encounters are scarce outside the boost, plan your main search for the evening window and verify that the event is active on your local date.
“I caught Minior, but it still has a shell.”
That is the expected starting state. A wild catch is in Meteor Form. The core is exposed through the battle trigger, not by catching a second visual variant or by spending a separate resource.
“Its HP is half, but nothing happened.”
The requirement is below 50 percent, not at 50 percent. Continue the eligible battle until the HP bar crosses the halfway point. If the bar is difficult to judge, use the next damaging action carefully and watch for the form-change animation.
“The form did not change in my battle.”
First check the battle context. The initially announced options are Team GO Rocket, team leaders, and GO Battle League. Then check the HP threshold: Minior must be under half health. If both conditions are met and the behavior still differs, consult the current in-game event text or a newer official announcement, because the initial rules may be revised.
“Which Core color will I get?”
Seven colors are identified, but the available material does not publish a complete mapping from each shower to a specific color. One color debuts per shower, and the Geminids can assign different debut colors to the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Do not rely on an unverified date-to-color chart.

The event schedule and the 5:00–9:00 p.m. boost are expressed in local time. Hemisphere handling is specifically relevant to debut-color assignment, with the Geminids naming separate Northern and Southern Hemisphere colors. It should not be interpreted as a general statement that Minior cannot appear outside one hemisphere.

The eligible battle supplies the transformation: once Minior’s HP drops below half, it exposes its core and switches to the more attack-focused form.
Because the shower calendar and debut-color details can be updated, use the current Pokémon GO announcement for the final date, local-time, and hemisphere information.
