Open the Kindle app, sign in with the Amazon account that owns the books, and download the titles from your Library. Amazon says Kindle is included on its new Alexa Tablets; the account-and-app workflow is the way to access your Kindle library.
Get Kindle books on the tablet
- Connect to Wi-Fi. Open the Kindle app on the tablet. Amazon says Kindle is built into the new Alexa Tablets. If you need to install it on an Android device, Amazon’s Android instructions say to search for “Kindle” in an app store and select Install; those instructions specify Android 10.0 or higher. - Sign in to the account that bought the books. In Kindle, open your Library and locate a title. Books are associated with the Amazon account used for the purchase, so using a different account will not show that account’s purchases.
- Download the title in Kindle. Select the book from the Library to download it for reading on the tablet. The precise control may vary by app version; Amazon’s materials do not specify a model-specific button sequence for the 12 Pro.
What “transfer” means for Kindle purchases
For books bought from the Kindle Store, “transfer” generally means accessing the title through the Kindle app and the Amazon account library, then downloading it to the device. Amazon documents syncing library content and delivering titles to registered devices; it does not direct users to copy purchased ebook files to this tablet over USB. Refresh Kindle and sync your reading progress
If the Library has not updated, connect to the internet and use the Kindle app’s documented mobile path: More > Sync now. Sync can update library content and keep reading position, notes, and highlights in sync across apps and devices linked to the account. Amazon’s Kindle Sync instructions.
Fix a book that is missing from the Library
- Check the account and connection. Confirm that the tablet is online and Kindle is signed in to the account associated with the purchase.
- Look in the full Library. Open the Library and select the “All” view; a filter can hide a title. Amazon’s missing-content guidance also recommends checking that the digital order is complete. Amazon’s missing Kindle content help.
- Deliver the book to a registered device. In a browser, open Manage Your Content and Devices > Content > Books > Deliver or remove from device, choose a device registered to the account, then sync Kindle on the tablet.
- Sync again over Wi-Fi. In Kindle, choose More > Sync now and check the Library again.
Reading features on the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro
Amazon says the new Alexa Tablets include Kindle reading mode, which silences notifications, reduces blue light, and offers three display themes. The 12 Pro’s Nanomatte display is an optional configuration. Amazon also says highlights, underlines, notes, and markups can be made with the Pro Pen, with annotations syncing to Kindle apps on pen-supported devices and Kindle Scribe. The Pro Pen is optional and is not needed to download or read books.

Amazon describes Kindle reading mode battery life as “up to 20 hours”; that is the company’s product claim, not an independent test result. In the announcement, Kevin Keith, Amazon’s Vice President, Devices, said readers can “open a book in the Kindle app and the device transforms into a distraction-free reading sanctuary.”
Amazon announced the product as the Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro; “Amazon Alexa Tablet Pro” is a shortened name. Availability and launch prices vary by market and can change, so check Amazon’s current product listing for local details.
