If the TV does not support the app, use a supported streaming player or game console connected to the TV instead. Check the exact model against Hulu’s current device list before buying anything, because compatibility can vary by model and software version.
Check whether your TV supports Hulu
Search for Hulu in your television’s app store, then confirm the exact TV model and software against Hulu’s supported Roku models, supported Android TV models, or supported VIZIO Smart TV models pages, as applicable. A brand name alone is not enough to establish compatibility.

Hulu’s device pages identify model-specific support. For example, its Roku guidance is limited to supported models; its Android TV guidance includes operating-system requirements; and its VIZIO guidance identifies supported model ranges. Since device lists and software requirements can change, verify your precise model and current software before troubleshooting or purchasing a TV.

- Connect the TV to the internet. Use the TV’s network settings to join your home Wi-Fi or connect an Ethernet cable. Hulu says that a compatible TV can play Hulu once it is connected to the internet. See Hulu’s TV-screen connection guidance.
- Open the Hulu app. Find it in the TV’s app menu or app store. If it is not available, recheck support for the exact model rather than assuming all TVs from that manufacturer are compatible.
- Sign in with your Hulu account. Use the prompts in the app and an account with an applicable Hulu subscription. The sign-in screens may differ by TV platform.
If your TV does not have a supported Hulu app
Connect another supported device to an available HDMI input, switch the TV to that input, and open Hulu on the connected device. Hulu lists streaming players such as Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, and Chromecast, as well as game consoles including Xbox and PlayStation. The list covers select models, not every product in a device family; check Hulu’s supported-device information before choosing one.

Hulu’s Live TV device page names select Roku and Samsung or LG TV models; Apple TV (4th generation or later); Chromecast; Fire TV and Fire TV Stick; Android TV; Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S; Nintendo Switch; and PlayStation 4 and 5. These are examples from Hulu’s list, not a guarantee that every device in each brand or generation works. Confirm the particular model on Hulu’s current page.
What you need for Hulu + Live TV
For Hulu + Live TV, Hulu requires a subscription, a supported device, and a high-speed internet connection. Standard Live TV viewing allows up to two simultaneous screens. To establish a home location, Hulu requires residential, non-mobile internet; a mobile hotspot cannot be used as the home network. See Hulu’s Live TV requirements and FAQs.

Live channel lineups vary by location, and regional restrictions or blackouts can apply. Check local availability before subscribing if a particular channel or live event is the reason you want Hulu + Live TV.
