You can get HBO Max through Hulu in two ways: add an HBO Max tier to an eligible Hulu plan, or subscribe to the Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max bundle. Most included HBO Max programming is available inside Hulu, but some titles and features require the separate HBO Max app. The steps and prices below reflect Hulu’s U.S. information available October 7, 2026; confirm current details in your account before changing plans.
Choose between a Hulu add-on and the bundle
A Hulu add-on is the direct option if you mainly want HBO Max access through your existing Hulu subscription. The bundle may suit you better if your household also wants Disney+ and a different Hulu or HBO Max tier. Compare the services you will actually use, not just the monthly totals.

Hulu’s bundle details say purchasers through Hulu must live in the United States or certain U.S. territories and be at least 18 or the age of majority where they live. The bundle may not be purchasable on every supported platform. Additional eligibility rules can apply if you already subscribe to Hulu, Disney+, or HBO Max; if that applies, check the current account guidance or contact support before switching.
How to add HBO Max to an existing Hulu plan
These steps apply when Hulu bills you directly. If a third party bills your subscription, you may need to make changes through that company, and available options can vary.

- In a mobile or desktop browser, sign in at Hulu.com.
- Open Account → Your Subscription → Manage Add-ons.
- Select the HBO Max tier you want.
- Review the plan change and price, then confirm.

How to activate HBO Max and sign in with Hulu
After adding an HBO Max tier, use Hulu as your provider when signing in to the HBO Max app:

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
- Open HBO Max and choose Sign in → Connect Your Provider → Hulu.
- Enter your Hulu credentials.
- Create your HBO Max profile when prompted. Hulu describes profile creation as a one-time action.
On a phone or tablet, scroll to Other TV Provider if Hulu is not immediately visible. Follow Hulu’s provider sign-in instructions if the labels differ or you need help.

Where to find HBO Max shows
In Hulu, search for HBO Max to open its hub, or search for a program by title. Hulu says most HBO Max content can be accessed there, but some offerings are available only in the HBO Max app. If a title is missing from Hulu, activate your HBO Max account and sign in to that app using Hulu as the provider.
The bundle does not combine the services into one app. Hulu’s bundle viewing guidance says subscribers need to download each app separately.

Check device support before troubleshooting playback
Hulu lists Hulu.com, Roku players, TVs and streaming sticks, Apple TV (4th generation or later), Chromecast, Fire TV and Fire Stick, recent game consoles, and several smart TV platforms among the options that support premium add-on programming. However, Hulu says HBO Max content is unavailable through Hulu on first-generation Fire TV Stick, Echo Show 8 and 10, and devices running Android OS 5, 6, 7.0, or Fire OS 5.

Check billing before changing or canceling a subscription
Identify the biller in Hulu’s Payment Information section before making a plan change. Hulu says subscriptions billed by a third party must generally be managed through that billing partner, and available plan choices can differ. Also review Hulu’s cancellation guidance: a separate or original subscription may continue billing after a bundle change or cancellation, so do not assume switching automatically ends another subscription.
