You can’t get a Stardrop from Grandpa’s Shrine. At the start of Year 3, Grandpa evaluates your farm; four lit candles mean you scored at least 12 points. Interact with the Shrine to claim the Statue of Perfection, which produces 2–8 Iridium Ore per day. The Stardrop-shaped carving that can later appear above the Shrine is only a visual marker for achieving Perfection—not a Stardrop item.
How to claim the reward at Grandpa’s Shrine

Find the Shrine in the far northwest corner of your farm. Its note reads: “Wait for my return at the dawn of the 3rd year.”

On the first day of Year 3, check how many candles are lit. Four candles indicate a score of 12 points or more.

If all four candles are lit, interact with the Shrine to collect the Statue of Perfection. The evaluation does not automatically place the statue in your inventory.

If fewer than four candles are lit, place a Diamond in the Shrine to request another evaluation. When the Shrine shows four candles, interact with it to collect the statue.
How the candle score works
The evaluation has 21 possible points. The candle thresholds are:

The points come from several types of progress; you do not need to complete every difficult milestone. The game’s listed scoring categories and maximum yields are:

These routes can be combined. For example, earnings and skill levels can contribute substantially without requiring all three listed achievements. If you choose the Joja route and turn the Community Center into a Joja Warehouse, you do not receive the points for completing the Community Center or holding its ceremony.

The first evaluation is not your only chance. Put a Diamond in Grandpa’s Shrine to request a re-evaluation. Grandpa is documented as appearing the following day, though timing can vary: in some cases he may reappear after the game is loaded or at the beginning of the next season. Once four candles are lit, claim the reward by interacting with the Shrine.

A cutscene can also be delayed without changing the score. If you get married on Year 3 Day 1, the marriage cutscene can take precedence over the evaluation scene. The candles still show your rating, and the evaluation cutscene plays the next time you enter the farmhouse.
Why the Shrine is confused with a Stardrop
The Shrine’s reward is the Statue of Perfection, not a Stardrop. The stone Stardrop carving that eventually appears above the Shrine is a visual sign of achieving Perfection; it is not an item you can collect.
Stardrops are separate items with other acquisition routes. Listed sources include reaching floor 100 of the Mines, a spouse or roommate milestone, Krobus, Old Master Cannoli, Willy’s letter after Master Angler, the Stardew Valley Fair, and donating all 95 Museum items. Grandpa’s Shrine is not among those Stardrop sources.
