You have nine shared guesses for four five-letter words, so track each grid separately and reassess all of them after every turn.
How Quordle’s shared guesses work
Quordle presents four hidden five-letter words. A guess is submitted across the unsolved boards, but each board returns its own feedback. The game page describes nine attempts in total; a guess used to help one board also uses one of those shared attempts. The Quordle game page explains the rules and provides practice play.

- Green: the letter is correct and in the correct position on that board.
- Yellow: the letter is in that answer, but in a different position.
- Gray: the letter is absent from that board’s answer.
Interpret every color in the context of its own grid. A gray letter on one board is not ruled out on the other three. The game’s keyboard separates letter status by board, which can help you keep those clues straight.

Start with a valid five-letter word that tests several common, distinct letters. A useful opening covers plausible vowels and consonants without leaning too heavily on repeated letters. The goal is not to guess a supposedly guaranteed answer; it is to learn enough to narrow multiple boards.

A secondary guide suggests SLATE followed by CORNY as one example of broad coverage. Treat that pair as an illustration, not a proven best opening: the available sources do not establish a Quordle-specific ranking, and the clues depend on the answers and accepted-word list. The guide recommends using roughly two or three turns for coverage before shifting toward answers, but strong clues may justify that shift sooner. Track each board independently
After every guess, scan all four grids before choosing the next word. For each board, keep three kinds of information distinct: confirmed letter positions, letters known to be present but misplaced, and letters excluded from that answer. This avoids a common mistake: carrying a clue from one board over to another where it does not apply.

For a yellow letter, record both that it belongs in the answer and the position it cannot occupy. Combine those restrictions with green positions and board-specific gray letters to narrow possible words. If repeated letters are plausible, do not assume every copy will receive the same color: Wordle-style feedback accounts for how many instances occur in the answer. A formal Wordle analysis describes repeated-letter handling, but it does not establish every Quordle edge case; check the current game interface if an unusual pattern is unclear. Know when to stop gathering information
Once a board has several fixed positions and only a small set of plausible answers, a direct solution guess may be more valuable than another general-purpose coverage word. Before submitting it, consider whether the word also fits or tests letters on another live board. This makes a turn work harder without losing sight of the answer you are closest to solving.

Do not tunnel on one nearly solved grid. A guess still consumes one of the shared attempts, and another board may have a more urgent opportunity. Scan all active boards each turn; prioritize the answer that is sufficiently constrained while checking whether the same guess has useful consequences elsewhere.
Budget the nine attempts
A practical routine is to spend the opening turns learning about multiple boards, then increasingly favor guesses that fit live answer patterns. The two-to-three-turn coverage guideline is a rule of thumb from a secondary guide, not a success guarantee. If only a few attempts remain, avoid testing letters without a clear reason: prefer a candidate that satisfies one or more boards’ known constraints.

Keep a simple count of turns used and answers solved. Solving a board removes it from the remaining puzzles, but does not restore a guess. The key trade-off is between a word chosen mainly to reveal letters and one chosen because it could finish an answer; the right balance changes as clues accumulate.

The Quordle-hosted mode listing names Classic, Extreme, Chill, Sequence, Rescue, and Weekly Challenge. It lists nine guesses for Classic, eight for Extreme, and twelve for Chill. Availability and rules may change, and the listing does not provide reliable detail for every named mode. Check the live instructions before relying on a mode’s attempt count or whether its boards are simultaneous or sequential. The Quordle mode listing is the place to check the listed options.

Practice with a repeatable review
Practice mode can help you rehearse a consistent process. After a round, review which guesses tested useful letters across several boards, whether you missed a clue on a grid, and whether you continued broad coverage after answer patterns had become strong. The game page offers practice play, but the available material does not establish a controlled training method or show that a particular routine improves results.
