Get a BeamMP AuthKey in the BeamMP Keymaster: sign in with Discord, open Keys, click the green + button, name the key, create it, and copy the value. Add that value to ServerConfig.toml in the [General] section as AuthKey = "your-key". Keep the key private, and set Private = false only when the server should be eligible for BeamMP’s public server list.

What a BeamMP AuthKey is
The AuthKey is the credential BeamMP uses to identify a server with its backend. BeamMP’s documentation describes it as necessary for making a public server accessible through the server list and recommends adding one to private servers as well. It is not the same thing as the server’s displayed name: the name you enter in Keymaster is a label for managing the key.

Anyone who can read your configuration, a screenshot, video, support post, or chat message may be able to use the credential. Store it only where the server process needs it.
Each key can be used by one server at a time. The same key cannot start two servers simultaneously, so separate running servers need separate keys.

Before you create a key
- Have a Discord account available. BeamMP requires Discord sign-in to reduce automated key creation and spam.
- Know which installation or server the key will identify. A useful label such as
home-eu-mainortest-serverhelps you distinguish keys later. - Locate your server’s
ServerConfig.tomlfile and make sure you can edit it with a plain-text editor. - Decide whether the server is private or should be eligible for the public list. You can change the
Privatesetting later.
The key is generated in the BeamMP Keymaster rather than inside the game or the server configuration file. The configuration file only stores the value after you create it.
How to get a BeamMP AuthKey
- Open BeamMP Keymaster. Use BeamMP’s official Keymaster page.
- Sign in with Discord. Complete the Discord authentication flow. A Discord login is required for Keymaster access.
- Open Keys. On the Keymaster home page, select Keys in the left-hand navigation.
- Start key creation. Click the green + button.
- Enter a server label. Fill in Server Name. This is an administrative label for the key; it does not have to match the public name players will see in the server list.
- Create the key. Click Create.
- Copy the value immediately. Copy the value displayed in the Key field, using the copy control when it is available. Treat the copied string as a password.
Keep the Keymaster page private while the value is visible. Do not paste it into a public note, a support ticket, a stream overlay, or a code repository. If you maintain several servers, use a clear label for each key so you do not accidentally put one server’s credential into another installation.
Where to put the key in ServerConfig.toml
BeamMP server settings use TOML syntax. Open ServerConfig.toml, find (or create) the [General] section, and place the generated value between double quotation marks after AuthKey:

A minimal configuration excerpt may also contain fields such as:

Name = "Test Server"The documented example uses port 30814, but the correct port is the one configured for your installation and network. The example’s Name controls the server’s displayed name, while the name entered in Keymaster labels the credential. They serve different purposes.
Safe editing procedure
- Stop the server or use your host’s supported maintenance procedure before changing its configuration, so the running process does not overwrite your edit.
- Make a backup copy of
ServerConfig.tomlwithout sharing the backup. It contains the AuthKey once you save it. - Edit the file as plain text and keep the section header exactly as
[General]. - Save the file, then start or restart the server using the normal procedure for your installation.
- Remove the key from clipboard history and temporary notes after pasting it. Clipboard managers can retain sensitive values.
Making the server appear in the public list
An AuthKey alone does not make a server public. The Private setting controls list eligibility:

After changing Private, save the file and restart or reload the server through your normal hosting workflow. Public-list eligibility is separate from network reachability: a server can have a valid key and still fail to appear if its port, firewall, routing, or other required settings prevent the BeamMP backend from reaching it.

Public-list preflight checklist
- The AuthKey is present under
[General]and enclosed in quotes. - The key was copied completely, with no missing characters or line breaks.
Private = falseis saved in the active configuration file.- The server has been restarted or reloaded after the edit.
- The configured port and firewall rules allow the server to be reached from the internet.
- You are checking the correct server name and installation, especially if several instances run on the same machine.
Why a server with an AuthKey is not showing
The server is still private
The most common configuration reason is Private = true. Change it to Private = false, save the active ServerConfig.toml, and restart or reload the server. A key is still useful on a private server, but private mode intentionally excludes it from the public list.
The key is in the wrong file or section
Confirm that the process is using the file you edited and that the line is under [General]. A key placed in another section, a second copy of the file, or a similarly named configuration can leave the running server unchanged.
The value was copied incorrectly
Re-copy the Keymaster value and compare the complete string. Do not manually retype it. Keep the quotation marks supplied by the TOML syntax, but do not add quotation marks inside the key itself.
The server is not reachable
BeamMP’s public-list requirement does not replace normal network configuration. Check that the server is running, the configured port matches the port exposed by your router or hosting provider, and the operating-system or provider firewall permits the required traffic. If the server is on a home connection, verify that the router forwards the selected port to the correct machine. If it is hosted remotely, check the provider’s network firewall as well as the operating-system firewall.

The change has not been applied
Editing a file does not necessarily change an already running process. Stop and start the server, or use the documented reload action for your setup, then check again. Make sure you did not edit a backup while the active process reads a different path.
Two instances are competing for one key
One AuthKey is limited to one server at a time. If you copied the same value into two running instances, stop the extra instance and assign each server its own key.
Can one BeamMP key be used for two servers?
No. BeamMP states that one key can be used on one server at a time. This applies even if the servers have different names or run on different machines. Create and assign a separate key for every server that may run concurrently.
If you only switch between two configurations and never run them simultaneously, you may move a key between them, but doing so increases the chance of leaving the credential in the wrong file. Separate keys are the safer operational choice. BeamMP indicates that additional keys can be obtained by supporting the project.
What to do if your AuthKey is exposed
Assume an exposed key is compromised. Exposure includes a public screenshot, livestream, video description, issue report, chat message, shared archive, or repository commit. Blur the entire key in screenshots; partial masking can still reveal enough information to be useful.
- Remove the exposure. Delete or redact the post, file, image, video description, or message wherever you control it. Remember that copies and cached versions may remain.
- Stop using the exposed credential. Do not continue distributing it while troubleshooting.
- Use BeamMP’s official compromised-AuthKey support or FAQ path. Follow the current recovery instructions there rather than publishing the key while asking for help.
- Replace the value in the server configuration when instructed. Update the affected
ServerConfig.toml, save it securely, and restart the server through your normal procedure. - Audit other copies. Search private backups, deployment scripts, control-panel variables, and shared folders for the old value, and remove or protect them.
Never post the credential to prove that it is the one causing a problem. Support staff do not need the secret value itself; they need the error context and safe, redacted configuration details.

Home hosting or a managed BeamMP server?
BeamMP’s official guide characterizes home hosting as free, while VPS hosting is easier and more secure. The right choice depends on how much infrastructure you want to operate yourself.

Whichever model you choose, the AuthKey workflow is the same: generate it in Keymaster, place it under [General], keep it secret, and use Private = false only for a server intended to be listed publicly.
Operational checklist for each server
- Create a uniquely labeled Keymaster key for the server.
- Copy the complete key once and store it only in the server’s protected configuration.
- Use valid TOML syntax:
AuthKey = "..."inside[General]. - Set the server’s display
Nameseparately from the Keymaster label. - Choose
Private = truefor a non-listed server orPrivate = falsefor public-list eligibility. - Confirm the configured port, routing, and firewall allow the server to be reached.
- Restart or reload after every configuration change.
- Keep backups private and redact the AuthKey completely before sharing diagnostics.
- Use one key per concurrently running server.
Key points to remember
BeamMP AuthKeys are created in Keymaster after Discord authentication, not generated manually in the configuration file. The value belongs in ServerConfig.toml under [General]. Public-list visibility additionally requires Private = false and a reachable, correctly configured server. One key supports one server at a time, and the credential should be handled with the same care as a password.
