To get a Tunisian IP address while abroad, connect through a VPN endpoint located in Tunisia. Choose a provider that explicitly lists Tunisia, confirm that the location is included in your plan, connect to it in the app, then check the reported country and test the service you need. A VPN brand alone does not guarantee a Tunisian IP, and a matching location does not guarantee that a website will accept the connection.
How to connect to a Tunisian VPN server
- Check location and plan availability. Confirm that Tunisia appears in the provider’s current server list and that your plan includes it. Proton VPN says its Free plan does not include Tunisia servers; it describes Tunisia access as available through a paid plan. These are the provider’s statements, and plan details can change. See Proton VPN’s Tunisia server page.
- Install and sign in to the provider’s app. Proton’s page outlines signing up, downloading the app, and connecting. Its app lets users choose Tunisia on a map or from a server list.
- Select Tunisia and connect. Wait for the app to confirm the connection. Some providers advertise a city-level location: CometVPN, for example, lists Tunis. That is a vendor claim, not independent confirmation of the endpoint’s routing, reliability, or compatibility with other services. See CometVPN’s Tunis page.
- Check the result and try the actual service. Use a reputable IP lookup service to see what country its database associates with your connection, then visit the site or app you need. An IP lookup indicates what that lookup service reports; it cannot prove that every other platform will accept the VPN connection.
What a Tunisian IP can—and cannot—do
A VPN changes the apparent source of your internet traffic only when it exits through an endpoint in Tunisia. The intended website, bank, streaming service, or other platform may still reject a VPN connection or apply its own location checks. The provider pages reviewed do not establish that any named Tunisian service accepts either provider’s connections, so test the specific service before relying on it.

If a connection fails, first confirm the app is connected to Tunisia rather than another location, then check the provider’s current server and plan information. If the IP lookup reports another country, contact the provider or try another listed Tunisian endpoint if one is available. If the lookup reports Tunisia but the target service still blocks access, the service may be applying checks beyond the country associated with the IP; the available provider information does not establish a guaranteed workaround.

- Location detail: Check whether Tunisia is currently listed and whether a city such as Tunis matters for your intended use.
- Plan and terms: Verify which subscription tier includes the endpoint, along with current pricing and cancellation terms. Do not assume a free tier includes it.
- Device support: Confirm that the provider offers an app or setup method for your operating system and devices.
- Privacy evidence: Read the privacy policy and look for independently documented audits. Treat claims about encryption, no logs, or security features as provider statements unless supported by evidence you can assess.
- Compatibility: Test the particular Tunisian service you need; advertised server availability does not establish acceptance by that service.
Proton VPN advertises encryption, a no-logs policy, a kill switch, and audited open-source apps on its Tunisia page. CometVPN advertises encrypted connections, no logs, and Tunis-specific routing. These are claims made by the providers, not independent findings about their services.

Can you host your own VPN endpoint in Tunisia?
Yes, if you have access to a trusted internet connection physically located in Tunisia and can configure and maintain a VPN endpoint on that network. You would connect remotely to that endpoint, so your traffic exits through the Tunisian connection. This is a technical DIY route, not a shortcut that works without equipment, network access, and ongoing maintenance.
A September 2026 Reddit discussion describes sharing access through a service hosted on a home network; a commenter mentions a Raspberry Pi as a possible device. The discussion does not provide a verified configuration or establish the setup’s security, reliability, cost, or ease. A Raspberry Pi by itself does not provide a Tunisian IP address. TunTrust’s “VPN Certificate” is a different product: its page describes certificates for associating network equipment such as routers and firewalls with a public key and securing tunnels between an organization and its branches. It is not presented as a consumer VPN subscription or a service that routes a user’s internet traffic through Tunisia. See TunTrust’s VPN Certificate page.

VPN use and travel considerations in Tunisia
Proton VPN’s Tunisia page says VPN use is legal in Tunisia, notes that many VPN websites have been blocked, and cautions that activity conducted through a VPN remains subject to local laws. The available material does not independently confirm the current legal position through an authoritative Tunisian legal source, so treat that as Proton’s description rather than a legal determination.
