To get a Jordanian public IP address while abroad, connect to a VPN server in Jordan. Choose a provider whose current server list includes Jordan, confirm your plan includes that location, then select Jordan in the app and verify the IP country after connecting. This guide is for people outside Jordan who want their traffic to appear to come from Jordan; it does not cover getting a foreign IP while in Jordan.
What a Jordanian IP address can—and cannot—do
A VPN routes traffic through a server and makes the public IP address seen by destination sites appear to be that server’s exit IP. If the exit is listed as Jordan, IP-based location tools may identify the connection as Jordanian. Proton describes its service this way, but its claim is not a guarantee that every site will accept a connection: Proton VPN’s Jordan server page.

Websites and apps may use additional location checks, account rules, or VPN detection. Banks, streaming services, and other services can reject a session even when an IP lookup identifies Jordan. No service-specific compatibility or access tests are established here.
How to connect through a VPN server in Jordan
- Check the provider’s current location list. Confirm Jordan is listed on the provider’s official site and that the plan you intend to use includes it. Proton currently says Jordan servers are not available on its Free plan; that is a statement about Proton’s plans, not all VPN services. Its page says free-plan users can connect to locations outside Jordan. Check Proton’s Jordan location and plan information. NordVPN’s official server inventory also lists Jordan: NordVPN server locations. Inventories and plan access can change, so check again before subscribing.
- Install the official app and sign in. Download the app from the provider for your device and log in. Proton lists desktop and mobile apps on its Jordan page; consult the provider’s own support instructions for the current steps for your device.
- Select Jordan in the app. Open the country list or map, choose Jordan, and connect. Proton says users can select the Jordan map marker or choose a Jordan server from the sidebar. The precise interface depends on the provider and app version.
- Check the resulting public IP country. After the VPN reports that it is connected, use a reputable IP lookup service to see the country associated with your public IP. If it does not show Jordan, verify that the selected location and plan are correct, disconnect and try another Jordan endpoint if available, or contact the provider’s support. This is troubleshooting guidance; no live IP connection was tested.
- Test the particular service you need. Sign in or load the destination site only if its terms allow VPN use. A Jordan IP alone cannot guarantee access, and providers’ location listings do not establish compatibility with a given bank, broadcaster, or website.
How to choose a VPN with a Jordan location
Use the provider’s own current server inventory as a starting point. The official pages cited above establish that Proton and NordVPN list Jordan, but a listing alone does not establish comparative speed, reliability, privacy superiority, the physical location of a server, or acceptance by a destination service. Avoid choosing on unverified speed or streaming claims.

- Location and plan: Check that Jordan is currently listed and included in the specific subscription tier you would use. Proton explicitly excludes Jordan servers from its Free plan at the time its page was reviewed.
- App support: Make sure the provider offers an official app for your device and lets you select a country or server location.
- Privacy information: Read the provider’s current privacy terms, permissions, and security explanations directly. A country listing is not evidence of how a provider handles data.
- Destination rules: Check the terms of the website or app you intend to use. It may block VPN connections or apply checks beyond IP location.
Urban VPN advertises a free browser extension for Chrome and Edge with a Jordan server, as well as mobile and desktop setup information: Urban VPN’s Jordan location page. These are vendor claims, not independent verification of security, privacy, or dependable access. Review its current privacy terms and requested permissions before installing it; do not treat a free option as suitable for sensitive banking or account activity without evaluating those risks.
Legal and privacy considerations
Proton and Urban VPN state on their pages that VPNs are generally legal to use in Jordan, while advising users to follow local law and service terms. Those are provider statements, not an independently verified legal determination. For a consequential decision, check current local law or seek qualified legal advice. A VPN does not make unlawful activity lawful, and it does not override the rules of the service you access.
