Netflix says VPN viewing may be limited to titles licensed worldwide, and Globo’s help pages do not confirm that a VPN unlocks Brazilian content from abroad. Check each service’s official plan and availability terms before subscribing.
What a Brazilian IP address can—and cannot—do
A VPN sends your internet traffic through a server operated by the VPN provider. If that server is in Brazil, websites may see a Brazilian IP address instead of the address assigned by your local internet provider. This changes the apparent network location; it does not change your account, subscription, or the streaming rights attached to a title.

Netflix catalogs vary by country. Netflix says an account’s country changes only when the subscriber moves to another country, so connecting through a Brazilian server is not the same as changing the account country. See Netflix’s country guidance.
Netflix Brazil: what Netflix says about VPNs
Netflix’s guidance is explicit: when you watch through a VPN, you may see only shows and movies Netflix has worldwide licensing for. Netflix also says VPNs are not supported for live events or for its ad-supported experience. A Brazilian IP therefore does not guarantee the Brazilian catalog or access to a particular title. Read Netflix’s VPN guidance before trying to watch.

This is Netflix’s platform guidance, not a statement about the law in your location. Catalogs and licensing can change, and the help page does not promise that a particular VPN provider or server will work.
Globoplay: check plan and location eligibility first
Globo describes free, ad-supported, and Premium plan tiers, with different content and live-channel entitlements. Availability can depend on the plan and licensing. Globo states that Premium is available only in Brazil; its reviewed help pages do not establish that a VPN makes the Brazilian catalog available to people abroad. Check the Globoplay plan types and Globo subscription overview for current terms and offers.

Globo’s access guidance explains signing in on supported devices; it does not confirm VPN compatibility. Do not treat a Brazilian VPN endpoint or a provider’s marketing as proof that Globoplay will accept the connection or show a particular title.
How to try a VPN without assuming it will unlock a catalog
- Check official availability first. Review Netflix’s country guidance and Globo’s current plan and signup terms for your location. Confirm that the subscription and content you want are available to you.
- If you choose to use a VPN, connect to a server in Brazil. The VPN app should show that the Brazilian connection is active. This only changes the apparent IP location; it does not guarantee a catalog change.
- Sign in to the streaming service and check the result. If the service displays a regional restriction or a different catalog, follow its help guidance rather than assuming another server will solve the issue.
- For Netflix live events or an ad-supported experience, disconnect the VPN. Netflix says VPNs are unsupported for those viewing modes.
If Netflix shows the wrong country or a regional error
Netflix says a regional error can mean it cannot determine your current country, and an active VPN may be the cause. If you are traveling or have recently moved, Netflix suggests signing out and back in. Its regional error guidance gives the service’s steps.

To check whether Netflix detects a VPN, Netflix recommends using another device on the same network to open fast.com, selecting “Show more info,” and checking the country shown beside “Client.” If a VPN is active and you need to turn it off, contact the VPN provider, internet service provider, or network administrator for help, as applicable. Netflix’s VPN troubleshooting guidance covers this check.
