Use the official store or account route for your platform: on Windows, the free 3DMark Demo is distributed through Steam; existing owners should redownload it from the store or 3dmark.com account used for purchase. On Android and iOS, install the official app listing. The official pages reviewed do not establish a separate APK download, so an APK mirror should not be treated as an official source.
What 3DMark Basic (Demo) is
3DMark is benchmark software for measuring the performance of PCs and mobile devices. It runs defined graphics and CPU workloads, then reports scores that help you compare similar systems. A useful comparison uses the same 3DMark test on devices with the same or closely matching CPU and GPU combinations; a score from a different test or device class is not a direct equivalent.

“Basic” generally refers to the limited Windows edition presented as the Demo, rather than a separate installer named Basic. The free edition contains a subset of the available tests and functions. UL identifies Professional Edition as the edition licensed for commercial use, so a business, lab or service provider should check that licensing distinction before using the software for paid work.

Install the free Demo from Steam
UL Benchmarks identifies Steam as the only officially supported channel for downloading the Windows 3DMark Demo. Follow this route:

- Open the Steam client or Steam store in a browser and search for the official 3DMark listing published by UL Benchmarks.
- Select the Demo/free installation option, then sign in to your Steam account if prompted.
- Choose an installation location with enough free space for the tests you intend to use. The Windows application can require substantially more space than the minimum needed for one test.
- Launch 3DMark from your Steam library. The tests and features available in the Demo are shown in the application; paid-only tests cannot be enabled through the Demo interface.
Do not download a Windows installer from an unrelated “free software” mirror. A third-party package can be outdated, modified or bundled with unwanted software, and it is not the official Demo route described by UL.
If you already purchased 3DMark
Redownload the Windows application through the channel used for the original purchase:
- Steam purchase: sign in to the same Steam account and install 3DMark from the library.
- Epic Games Store purchase: sign in to the purchasing Epic account and reinstall it from the library.
- Direct purchase from UL: sign in at 3dmark.com with the account associated with the purchase and use the account download option.
Buying the software through one channel does not automatically place it in another channel’s library. If the product is missing, first verify the account and store in which the transaction was completed.
Download 3DMark on Android
Use the official Android app listing rather than an APK mirror. UL’s Android product page describes 3DMark as a free download for non-commercial use. Open the app store on the device, search for the official 3DMark listing, check that the publisher is UL Benchmarks, and install it through the store’s normal process.

- Open the device’s official app store.
- Search for “3DMark” and open the listing from UL Benchmarks.
- Review the supported Android version, permissions and required storage shown for your device.
- Tap Install, then launch the app and select a benchmark that your device supports.
The app listing and the individual test determine what is available on a particular phone or tablet. A device can install the app yet be unable to run a test whose graphics API, memory or operating-system requirements it does not meet.
Download 3DMark on iPhone or iPad
Install the official iOS app listing from Apple’s App Store. UL announced Wild Life as a free standalone iOS app. Search the App Store for the official listing, confirm the UL Benchmarks publisher, and install it directly to the device.
- Open the App Store and search for “3DMark” or the relevant Wild Life listing.
- Check the publisher name and the compatibility information displayed by Apple.
- Tap Get and authenticate with the Apple Account used for the device.
- After installation, open the app and choose a compatible test.
Availability and compatibility can change as Apple updates iOS and removes or replaces listings. If the app does not appear in search, check the device’s region, iOS version and App Store account rather than installing a package from an unofficial website.
Is there an official 3DMark APK?
The official Windows guidance reviewed for this download route documents Steam, Epic Games Store and 3dmark.com account downloads. The official mobile information describes app-store distribution. Those sources do not confirm a separate official APK file.

That means an APK file offered by a mirror should not be labelled or assumed to be official. Sideloading also bypasses the app store’s signature, update and malware checks. For an Android installation, use the official store listing. If you need an APK for enterprise deployment or testing, obtain written confirmation and a file directly from UL Benchmarks rather than relying on a download site that merely uses the 3DMark name.
What the free Windows Basic/Demo includes
The Windows feature matrix shows that Basic/Demo provides only a subset of 3DMark’s benchmarks and functions. Some tests and features are reserved for paid editions. Unsupported tests do not appear in the Windows Basic/Demo or Steam Demo user interface, so reinstalling the Demo will not unlock them.
- Personal testing: the free edition is suitable for running the tests it exposes and obtaining scores for your own systems.
- Paid-only content: additional tests or functions require the applicable paid edition.
- Commercial licensing: UL states that Professional Edition is the only edition licensed for commercial use.
Before downloading, decide whether you need a specific test. A free installation is not a guarantee that every benchmark in the 3DMark catalog will be available on that platform or edition.
System requirements by platform and test
There is no single minimum that applies to every 3DMark benchmark. Requirements depend on the test, operating system and graphics API. The figures below are the requirements UL publishes for the named applications and tests.

The 2 GB minimum is not enough to install every test. If you plan to add the full listed test set, reserve the recommended 9.8 GB instead. These Windows figures should not be used as requirements for Android or iOS.

These are Wild Life requirements, not universal requirements for every mobile benchmark. The app store may report a device as incompatible when the operating system, memory, API support or available storage falls short.

UL’s Windows product page lists version 2.32.8897, released August 3, 2026. The associated release notes describe this as a minor update that does not affect benchmark scores. Version numbers and store listings are volatile, so check the product page or your store’s update screen at installation time; a newer build may replace this one.

How to get meaningful score comparisons
Run the same benchmark under comparable conditions and compare systems with the same CPU and GPU combination whenever possible. A Wild Life score from a phone is not directly interchangeable with a Windows score from Steel Nomad, even if both numbers are called a 3DMark score.
- Match the exact test name and test mode.
- Compare similar hardware combinations rather than only looking at the headline score.
- Record the operating system, driver state and device configuration alongside the result.
- Repeat a run if the device was hot, running on battery-saver mode or busy with background tasks.
These practices reduce misleading comparisons; they do not turn scores from different tests into a single universal ranking.
Troubleshooting common download and launch problems
The Windows Demo is not in your library
Confirm that Steam is signed into the account that owns the Demo or purchase. If the purchase was made through Epic Games Store or directly through UL, use that service instead. Searching another store for a cross-platform entitlement may show no result because store libraries are separate.

Free additional storage before installing optional tests. The Windows page lists 2 GB for the minimum Steel Nomad setup but 9.8 GB to install all listed tests. Keep extra working space available for downloads and temporary files.
A mobile test will not run
Check the specific test’s operating-system, memory and graphics-API requirements. For Wild Life, Android needs Android 10 or later, 3 GB memory and Vulkan 1.1; iOS needs iOS 13 or later, 2 GB memory and Metal. Installing the app does not override those hardware and API limits.
A score seems unexpectedly low
Verify that you ran the same test as the comparison result and that the device was not throttling because of heat or power-saving settings. Compare with systems using the same CPU and GPU combination before treating a difference as meaningful.

- Use Steam for the official Windows Demo.
- Use the original Steam, Epic Games Store or 3dmark.com account for a paid Windows copy.
- Use the official Android or iOS app listing for mobile installation.
- Treat any separate APK mirror as unofficial unless UL explicitly confirms it.
- Check the requirements for the exact benchmark you plan to run.
- Verify the current version and available storage before starting the installation.
Bottom line
For a free, legitimate installation, Windows users should choose the Steam Demo, while Android and iOS users should install the official store app. The free Windows edition is limited, commercial use requires Professional Edition, and benchmark requirements vary by test. The official material reviewed does not confirm a standalone APK, so the app store—not a mirror—is the reliable Android route.
