To capture a website at a mobile size, send its URL to a screenshot API and set a mobile-sized browser viewport. The viewport width—not the exported image’s width—determines which responsive CSS layout the page uses. Add device emulation settings such as mobile viewport behavior, touch, orientation, and device scale factor only when the capture needs them; a device preset is still an emulation, not a physical-phone test.
Choose the mobile result you want
First decide whether you need a screenshot of the visible screen or the entire document. A viewport capture shows a particular width and height. A full-page capture extends beyond the visible fold, but still needs a mobile viewport width so the site renders its mobile layout.
- Match a responsive breakpoint: set an explicit CSS viewport width from your design or test case.
- Capture a device-like view: choose a supported device profile, then check its viewport and emulation settings.
- Capture a long page: enable full-page capture and account for the provider’s method of scrolling or stitching the page.
Do not assume a phone’s marketed screen resolution is its CSS viewport width. For example, ScreenshotOne’s full-page guide uses 375 pixels as an example mobile viewport width; that is a configuration example, not a universal phone standard. See ScreenshotOne’s full-page screenshot guide.
Configure the viewport and mobile emulation
Set width and height as browser viewport dimensions. Width selects responsive CSS behavior; height determines the visible fold for a regular viewport capture. For full-page output, the provider may treat height differently. Browserless accepts Puppeteer-style screenshot options, including viewport dimensions and device scale factor, and documents mobile, touch, and landscape settings. ScreenshotOne documents width, height, mobile viewport behavior, touch, landscape, device scale factor, and predefined device emulation.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
A device scale factor (DPR) controls pixel density, not the responsive layout width. A higher value can produce a sharper, larger image and may increase render work. Keep layout width, DPR, and any post-capture image resizing conceptually separate. If a device preset sets values you do not want, override its individual settings where the API permits. ScreenshotOne says its device option emulates device characteristics and does not use an actual device; consult its options reference.
DIY example: Browserless REST API
Browserless documents a POST /screenshot endpoint that returns an image and accepts Puppeteer-style options. This cURL example requests a 375-by-812 CSS-pixel viewport with mobile and touch emulation and a device scale factor of 2. Substitute your Browserless endpoint and token according to your account setup; the endpoint and authentication details can vary by Browserless deployment.

- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Full-page captures and dynamic content
Full-page capture does not remove the need to choose a mobile viewport width. It changes how much of the document is included. Providers may stretch the page or capture it in sections; section scrolling can trigger lazy-loaded images and other below-the-fold content, but adds work and time. ScreenshotOne says its full-page mode enables scrolling by default and documents section capture as a way to trigger content loading.

When a page depends on JavaScript, animations, delayed content, or lazy loading, wait for a meaningful ready condition where supported: a selector, a short delay, or the provider’s documented load state. ScreenshotOne offers scrolling controls and motion-reduction settings, and notes that rendering can vary by page and that quality tuning may reduce performance. No wait strategy guarantees identical results on every site. See its full-page guide for provider-specific behavior.
Review the output and protect credentials
- Open the saved image at its actual dimensions. A resized preview can conceal softness or a mismatch between viewport and output pixels.
- Check whether the responsive navigation, columns, and content match the intended breakpoint.
- For a full page, inspect content near the bottom for missing lazy-loaded items or incomplete rendering.
- Use HTTPS and store API keys or tokens in server-side secrets, not source code shipped to visitors. ScreenshotOne specifically recommends HTTPS and warns against exposing keys publicly; see its getting started documentation.
An API screenshot demonstrates how the configured browser emulation rendered the page. It does not establish how that page behaves on physical hardware or prove browser-specific behavior; test actual devices separately when that is part of the QA requirement.

Troubleshooting mobile screenshots
| Symptom | What to check | Adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| The page still looks like desktop | Viewport width and mobile viewport or meta-viewport handling | Set the intended CSS viewport width and enable the provider’s mobile behavior if the page requires it. A narrow output image alone does not trigger a mobile layout. |
| Text or images look soft or unusually large | Device scale factor and post-capture resizing | Set DPR deliberately, then inspect the original output dimensions before resizing. |
| Content below the fold is missing | Full-page mode, scrolling behavior, and lazy-load timing | Enable full-page capture; where supported, use section scrolling and wait for relevant content to appear. |
| Capture takes too long | Viewport dimensions, DPR, full-page height, and waits | Reduce unnecessary pixel density or page height and use a targeted readiness condition rather than an excessive delay. Full-page and larger renders can take longer. |
| API request fails or returns an unexpected response | Endpoint, method, authentication, JSON shape, and response type | Compare the request with the provider’s current API schema and check that the output file matches the returned content type. Browserless’s endpoint and deployment details are documented at its screenshot API page. |

ScreenshotNeo takes a website URL in one GET request and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Set the mobile viewport with the API’s documented options; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation. For example, this saves a WebP capture of Stripe; change the target URL and add the viewport options you need:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo removes supported cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed; each response reports the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets AI agents use take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card required.

Does a mobile screenshot API use a real phone?
No. Device profiles emulate browser and device characteristics. Use physical devices separately when you need to verify hardware-specific or browser-specific behavior.

Should I set the viewport width or the output image width?
Set the viewport width to choose the responsive layout. Output resizing changes the resulting image, not the page’s CSS breakpoint.
