Build an HTML image that fits the listing
Start with a fixed-size composition rather than capturing an entire website by default. Decide what the image needs to communicate—such as a property summary, floor plan, or designed listing card—and set its canvas dimensions and aspect ratio accordingly. Keep essential text large enough to remain legible when the portal displays the image as a small thumbnail.

Use HTML and CSS for the layout, but treat the rendered result as a design asset, not automatically as a substitute for a genuine photograph of the property. Portals may require relevant, authentic property images or screen submissions, and may reject promotional graphics or overlays.

Capture the design with Playwright
Playwright supports screenshots of a browser viewport, a selected element, and a full page. For a listing card, capture the element itself or a deliberate clipped region; a full-page screenshot can include unrelated page content and produce an unnecessarily tall image. Here is a minimal Node.js example that opens a local HTML file and captures an element with the selector #listing-card. Save the HTML as listing.html, install Playwright with npm install playwright, and make sure the page contains an element with that ID.

If remote fonts or images are involved, verify they have loaded before capturing; a completed navigation does not guarantee every visual asset is present. For a whole-page capture, use await page.screenshot({ path: 'listing.png', fullPage: true }). The element capture is usually the better starting point for a standalone listing graphic.

Choose output format deliberately
Playwright documents PNG, JPEG, and WebP screenshot formats. Use PNG for crisp text and diagrams, or JPEG where smaller files matter and slight compression artifacts are acceptable. Do not assume WebP is accepted by the destination portal: Magicbricks’ cited upload guidance lists JPG, GIF, BMP, and PNG, not WebP.

Validate the final file before uploading
- Check the saved image, not just CSS. Inspect its actual pixel dimensions and file size after rendering. Browser scale settings and output processing can make the final file differ from what you inferred from CSS dimensions.
- Review the whole composition. Look for clipped edges, missing fonts, broken images, overlays, unreadable small text, or data that did not render.
- Resize or recompress only if needed. Preserve enough resolution for legibility while staying within the portal’s stated constraints.
- Confirm the image is allowed for that listing and category. A technically valid file can still violate rules about authenticity, relevance, contact details, branding, or watermarks.

Magicbricks
Magicbricks’ official help guidance says uploadable formats include JPG, GIF, BMP, and PNG, with a maximum file size of 4 MB and a minimum image dimension of 600 × 400 pixels. These are Magicbricks-specific published requirements; confirm the live upload guidance before relying on them because portal rules can change. Magicbricks says images should match the property type: “Photos should match the ‘Property Type’ mentioned in the details.” Its rejection guidance lists contact numbers, email addresses, names, addresses, websites, watermarks, and company names as disallowed in photos. It also flags human figures, animation, blurred or poor-quality images, and duplicate images across properties. The page allows a project name only on floor-plan, master-plan, or location-map images. Check the current rule for the image category you plan to upload rather than assuming every category is treated identically.
Magicbricks lets listers select photo categories such as bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. Its help page says photos undergo screening and, if approved, may be uploaded within 24 hours. Its property-posting page recommends high-quality, relevant listing images. See the photo-upload help page and the property-posting page. Its FAQ asks, “Do I need to add photos while posting a property ad online?”; consult the portal’s current instructions for the answer applicable to your listing.

A Housing.com support article describes adding images in the listing edit area and a self-verification process for real images. It instructs users to take pictures in landscape mode, except bathroom pictures, and says a quality review follows. The article was last modified November 23, 2023, so confirm that its process still applies. Numeric format, file-size, and resolution limits are not established here. - The image is blank or missing assets: Confirm the page URL is reachable and its fonts and images have loaded. Wait for a visible target element or a relevant selector before taking the screenshot.
- The card is cut off: Capture the card element rather than the viewport, and check the element’s rendered bounds and overflow styles.
- Text looks too small: Increase the design’s type size or canvas dimensions, then inspect the saved image at the size likely to appear in a listing thumbnail.
- The upload rejects the file: Check the actual format, dimensions, and file size against that portal’s current rules. For Magicbricks, verify the published 4 MB maximum, 600 × 400 minimum, and accepted formats above.
- The image passes file checks but is rejected: Review the portal’s content rules for that image category. In particular, a designed HTML graphic may not meet requirements for genuine, relevant property imagery.
