There is no dependable universal Super Chat rate for an always-on YouTube channel. Build a forecast from your own confirmed Supers revenue in YouTube Analytics and the eligible public live hours that produced it; then model a range using comparable periods, schedules, and audience patterns. Treat the result as an estimate, not a promise.
What to measure—and what not to use
Super Chat and Super Stickers are viewer purchases that highlight messages or images in live chat. Their availability depends on channel and stream eligibility. For forecasting, use the channel’s reported Supers revenue rather than a generic creator benchmark: YouTube’s official sources do not publish a universal Super Chat amount per viewer, per hour, or for always-on channels.
Do not substitute overall RPM. YouTube defines RPM as revenue after YouTube’s share per 1,000 views, and it can include ads, YouTube Premium, memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. It is a blended channel metric, not a Super Chat-specific rate. YouTube’s RPM explanation describes what it includes.
Collect comparable channel data
- In YouTube Studio, open Analytics → Revenue → How you make money and record the Supers revenue reported for a chosen date range. YouTube directs creators to this report for Supers data: Manage YouTube Super Chat & Super Stickers for Live Chat.
- For the same dates, total the eligible public live hours that correspond to those earnings. Keep the time window consistent; do not divide a month’s revenue by only the hours from a shorter reporting period.
- Where dependable audience-hour data are available, record them as a second measure. Keep concurrent-viewer or audience-hour assumptions separate from live hours.
- Split the data into meaningful formats or schedules when behavior differs—for example, an always-on ambience feed, a host-led show, and a recurring event. A single channel-wide average can hide those differences.
- Note whether revenue depends heavily on one or a few unusually large purchases. That concentration can make a short lookback period especially unrepresentative.
Calculate an hourly baseline and forecast
For a consistent historical window, calculate:
Historical creator Supers revenue per live hour = confirmed creator Supers revenue ÷ eligible public live hours

Then estimate a planned period using:
Projected creator Supers revenue = historical revenue per live hour × planned eligible live hours
This is a practical planning calculation, not a formula published or guaranteed by YouTube. Use the same revenue basis in both steps—creator Supers revenue from the report, not viewers’ displayed purchase totals—and ensure the projected hours are eligible public live hours.

Build low, base, and high scenarios
Calculate the hourly baseline across several comparable windows, such as recent weeks and a longer seasonal view. Use the channel’s own observed low, typical, and high periods to set a range rather than extrapolating from a single unusually strong week. For each scenario, state the planned eligible hours and the hourly rate you chose from the channel’s history.
If reliable audience-hours are available, you can also calculate creator Supers revenue per 1,000 audience-hours and multiply it by expected audience-hours. This is another way to organize a forecast, not evidence that audience-hours cause purchases or guarantee a result. Make clear which method produced each estimate.

Interpret the result carefully
- Live hours: More eligible hours increase the modeled total only if the historical hourly rate is a reasonable match for the planned schedule.
- Audience assumptions: If expected concurrent viewers or audience-hours differ substantially from the lookback period, show that as an explicit assumption rather than silently reusing the old rate.
- Format and schedule: Compare like with like. A nonstop background stream may draw different purchase behavior from a scheduled program with a host or a special event.
- Seasonality and outliers: Keep unusual events and large one-off purchases visible. A high period is not automatically a sustainable baseline.
- Uncertainty: YouTube says partner agreements do not guarantee how much or whether a creator will be paid. YouTube’s partner earnings overview states this directly.
Estimate the creator share, not the displayed purchase total
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted. YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees. The 70% figure is therefore not necessarily 70% of every viewer’s displayed purchase price in every country or payment flow. Use the channel’s agreement and Studio-reported revenue as the practical references, and base your forecast on confirmed creator revenue. See YouTube’s Supers revenue terms.
YouTube also notes that if a Super Chat or Super Sticker is removed for violating policies, it may donate its portion of the revenue to charity. This is another reason not to treat gross purchases as guaranteed creator income.

Check that Supers can run on the channel and stream
Supers require feature eligibility, and an eligible live stream or Premiere needs live chat enabled. YouTube lists requirements including being at least 18, living in a supported country or region, and accepting the Commerce Product Module or former addendum. The channel’s current Studio status is the place to verify availability.
YouTube’s expanded YPP eligibility page lists, for the fan-funding features it describes, 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours in 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, subject to other requirements. Thresholds and feature availability can vary; check the current YouTube Partner Program expanded access requirements rather than assuming eligibility from subscriber count alone.

Keep an always-on stream running
If you are planning a continuous pre-recorded YouTube stream, the delivery method and the revenue forecast are separate decisions: a stream running longer does not establish a higher Super Chat rate. For a do-it-yourself setup, keep the streaming computer and connection operating, schedule public live hours with live chat enabled, and maintain the stream according to your chosen software’s instructions. Track its actual eligible hours alongside Studio Supers revenue so your next estimate reflects what the channel really delivered.

Troubleshoot a forecast that looks wrong
- The hourly rate is unexpectedly high: Check whether a single large purchase or a special event dominates the period. Recalculate across other comparable windows and show the outlier separately.
- Revenue and hours do not line up: Confirm that both totals use the same dates and that the hours count is for eligible public live streams, not all scheduled or attempted time.
- The estimate uses RPM: Replace it with the Supers figure in Revenue → How you make money. RPM combines multiple revenue sources and cannot isolate Supers.
- Supers are missing: Verify feature eligibility and supported-region status in Studio, check that live chat was enabled, and confirm that the stream or Premiere qualifies.
- The forecast assumes the full displayed purchase amount: Rebase it on confirmed creator Supers revenue; YouTube’s documented 70% share is calculated after specified deductions, and Studio reporting is the relevant practical reference.
