For Ohio State’s 2026 Big Ten conference games, check the official football availability reports on BigTen.org. Three reports are due at 8 p.m. ET on the three days before kickoff, followed by a final report two hours before kickoff. The latest report is the most current official snapshot; it does not guarantee that a player’s status cannot change later.
Where to find Ohio State’s official availability report
The Big Ten publishes football availability reports on BigTen.org. For a game against a Big Ten opponent, use that report as the source for the player designations under the conference policy. Ohio State’s official football roster can help confirm a player’s identity and position. The football hub and media center provide team news, press conferences, game materials, and other context; they are not established as equivalent weekly availability-report feeds.

When the Big Ten reports are due
The Big Ten announced its 2026 process on August 28, 2026. For conference games, teams submit reports at 8 p.m. ET three days, two days, and one day before the scheduled kickoff. A final report is due two hours before kickoff. The scheduled times are also given in Central and Pacific time by the conference; the times below use Eastern time for Ohio State readers. See the Big Ten’s 2026 announcement for the policy.
| Report | Due time | Available designations |
|---|---|---|
| Three days before kickoff | 8 p.m. ET | Probable; Questionable; Doubtful; Out; Out (1st Half) |
| Two days before kickoff | 8 p.m. ET | Probable; Questionable; Doubtful; Out; Out (1st Half) |
| One day before kickoff | 8 p.m. ET | Probable; Questionable; Doubtful; Out; Out (1st Half) |
| Gameday final report | Two hours before kickoff | Game Time Decision; Out; Out (1st Half) |
How to check a player’s status
- Confirm the competition. The Big Ten schedule applies to games against Big Ten opponents. For a nonconference game, do not assume this policy establishes a required Ohio State report or timetable.
- Open the Big Ten report. Check BigTen.org on each scheduled release day, especially for the gameday report two hours before kickoff.
- Note the report time and label. Treat each designation as a snapshot from that specific report, not as a prediction or guarantee about what will happen later.
- Use the newest report. If a player’s designation changes, rely on the later report for the current official status and retain the earlier one only as part of the timeline.
- Verify the player and add context if useful. Consult Ohio State’s official roster to confirm identity and position. Press conferences, team materials, and news coverage can help explain what was said publicly, but they do not replace the report’s designation.
What the labels mean—and what an unlisted player means
In the three reports before gameday, the Big Ten policy uses Probable, Questionable, Doubtful, Out, and Out (1st Half). On gameday, it uses Game Time Decision, Out, and Out (1st Half). The conference states: “Student-athletes not listed on a report are considered Available.” That is the status conveyed by that report, not assurance that a late change will not occur during warmups or the game.

The report is also not necessarily a complete medical roster. Under the Big Ten policy, a visiting team may report players on its travel squad, plus players outside that squad who are on the two-deep on offense, defense, or special teams, or who otherwise regularly participate in games. Interpret an absent name within that reporting scope rather than as proof that no injury or health issue exists.
How Ohio State news and coach comments fit in
Ohio State’s football hub and media center are useful for team announcements, press conferences, game books, and other materials. Coach comments and independent coverage may provide context about what was publicly discussed during the week; they are not a substitute for the official availability label. For example, contemporaneous September 2026 coverage described status movement and quoted Ryan Day discussing evaluation through practice. That was a report about that particular week, not a standing rule for future games.

Conference games, nonconference games, and the CFP
| Game context | What to check | Timing established here |
|---|---|---|
| Big Ten conference game | Big Ten football availability report on BigTen.org | 8 p.m. ET three, two, and one days before kickoff; final report two hours before kickoff |
| Nonconference game | Check official Ohio State channels for team information; the Big Ten conference-game policy does not establish a required Ohio State report timetable for these games | No separate Ohio State timetable is established by the cited official pages |
| College Football Playoff game | Consult the applicable CFP policy and report process for that season | The cited 2025-26 CFP policy calls for reports beginning three days before the game, daily updates, and a final report 90 minutes before game time |
The CFP policy is a separate reporting regime, not an extension of the Big Ten schedule. The cited 2025-26 CFP policy also uses different gameday categories. Check the policy for the season in question rather than carrying those dates, categories, or timing forward as a permanent rule.
