If Zenzap alerts are missing, check both notification controls: Zenzap’s own schedule and your phone’s operating-system permissions. Set Zenzap to Always on when you need alerts outside working hours, then make sure Android or iPhone allows Zenzap to notify you. Finally, check whether the alert is actually silent or delayed by a summary or Focus setting.
Start by identifying which notification control is blocking you
Zenzap notifications can be limited in two independent places. The Zenzap app can apply a working-hours schedule, while Android or iOS can block, silence, hide, or defer the app’s alerts. Changing only one layer may leave the problem unchanged.

Use a test message or mention from a teammate after each change. Changing one setting at a time tells you which layer was responsible and prevents a successful fix from being hidden by a second setting.

The in-app schedule is the first check because it can intentionally suppress routine notifications even when the phone has granted every permission.

Open the notification schedule
- Open Zenzap on your Android phone or iPhone.
- Tap Settings in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap Notifications.
- Look at the selected schedule: Working hours only or Always on.
Review Working hours only
With Working hours only selected, inspect the enabled weekdays and the From and To times. A message arriving on a disabled day or outside those times may not produce a routine push alert. This is expected schedule behavior rather than an Android or iPhone permission failure.
Select Always on when you want Zenzap notifications regardless of the configured days and hours. This is the appropriate choice for teams that need after-hours updates, rotating coverage, or immediate alerts while traveling across time zones.
Know the schedule exception
Zenzap says that Important notifications for direct @mentions and replies to your messages will still come through.
That exception is documented in the Zenzap Knowledge Base article Set Up Working Hours, edited April 26, 2026. Therefore, receiving a direct mention while other routine alerts are absent does not prove that the schedule is disabled; it may mean the schedule is working as designed.

Test the change
After selecting Always on, ask a teammate to send a normal message and a direct mention. Test outside the former working period if that was when notifications disappeared. If neither test arrives, continue with the phone’s system settings rather than repeatedly changing the Zenzap schedule.
2. Restore Zenzap notifications on Android
Android can disable an app globally or change an individual notification category from Alerting to Silent. The exact wording varies by phone maker and Android version, but the relevant controls are in the app-notification settings.

Turn on the app permission
- Open the Android Settings app.
- Tap Notifications.
- Tap App notifications. On some versions this is labeled Notifications, App notifications, or a similar option.
- Find Zenzap in the recent-app list or the full app list.
- Turn on Zenzap’s notifications.
If the main Zenzap switch is off, Android is blocking every category regardless of the setting inside Zenzap. Turn it on before investigating sound, vibration, or banner behavior.
Check each notification category
Open Zenzap’s notification categories and inspect the category associated with the alert you are missing. Android can leave one category enabled while another is disabled. Turn on the categories you need, such as message or mention alerts, rather than assuming the global switch covers every category.

Android describes silent alerts as notifications that remain in the notification shade without playing a sound or vibrating. They can look like missing notifications if you expect a pop-up or audible signal, so swipe down on the shade before concluding that delivery failed.
Choose the visual cues you want
Within Zenzap’s Android notification settings, confirm the cues that matter to you:
- Enable notification dots if you rely on an app-icon indicator.
- Allow lock-screen display if you need to see an alert without unlocking the phone.
- Keep the category in Alerting when sound or vibration is important.
A notification can be successfully delivered while remaining invisible on the lock screen, lacking a dot, or making no sound. These are presentation choices, not necessarily a delivery failure.
Account for manufacturer-specific menus
Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei, Pixel, and other Android devices can place the same controls under different labels or add another battery or background-activity setting. Start with the path above, then use the wording shown by your phone. The key checks remain the same: Zenzap is enabled, the relevant category is enabled, and the category is Alerting rather than Silent.

Run an Android confirmation test
- Leave the Zenzap notification settings open long enough to verify that the app and required category are enabled.
- Lock the phone and ask a teammate to send a test message or direct mention.
- Check for a pop-up, sound, vibration, lock-screen entry, or notification dot according to the options you selected.
- If no cue appears, swipe down to inspect the notification shade before changing another setting.
If the alert appears only in the shade, the category is probably silent or the chosen display options are limited. If there is no entry anywhere, recheck the app switch and the Zenzap schedule.
3. Restore Zenzap notifications on iPhone
iOS separates permission from placement. You can allow Zenzap but choose not to show banners, Lock Screen entries, sounds, or badges. Scheduled Summary and Focus can also postpone or suppress an alert that the app is permitted to send.
Allow Zenzap to notify you
- Open Settings on the iPhone.
- Tap Notifications.
- Select Zenzap.
- Turn on Allow Notifications.
Then choose the destinations that match how you work:
- Lock Screen shows the alert before you unlock the phone.
- Notification Center keeps it in the notification history.
- Banners displays a temporary alert while you are using the phone.
- Sounds and Badges add audio and an app-icon count when enabled.
For immediate, visible alerts, enable the destinations you actually monitor. For a quieter setup, you can leave a destination off while retaining another, but remember that an alert may be present in Notification Center without appearing as a banner or making a sound.
Remove Zenzap from Scheduled Summary when timing matters
Open iPhone Settings, go to Notifications, and review Scheduled Summary. If Zenzap is included in the summary, iOS may hold its notifications for the next scheduled delivery instead of showing them immediately. Remove Zenzap from the summary when messages must arrive as they are sent.
Check Focus modes and schedules
Review active Focus modes and their schedules. A work, sleep, personal, or custom Focus can delay or silence Zenzap even while Allow Notifications is on. Temporarily check the phone with Focus disabled, then decide whether Zenzap should be allowed during that Focus mode.
When Zenzap is absent from the Notifications list
If Zenzap does not appear under iPhone Settings > Notifications, the app may not currently have a usable notification registration. Apple’s notification guidance indicates that an app without a Notifications section may not be able to send notifications. Update Zenzap or reinstall it if necessary, then open the app and respond to the permission prompt when iOS asks. Recheck the Notifications list afterward. This is a recovery step to make the permission entry appear, not a guarantee that reinstalling alone fixes every delivery problem.

Run an iPhone confirmation test
- Confirm Allow Notifications and at least one visible destination, such as Notification Center or Banners.
- Remove Zenzap from Scheduled Summary if the test must arrive immediately.
- Temporarily check the test with Focus off or with Zenzap allowed in the active Focus.
- Lock the iPhone and have a teammate send a message or direct mention.
- Look in the selected location: Lock Screen, Notification Center, banner, or the app badge.
Missing, silent, or delayed: classify the symptom correctly
The symptom tells you which setting to inspect first. Use this distinction before making additional changes.

This classification prevents a common mistake: turning on sound when the app is actually blocked, or disabling Focus when the alert is merely configured as silent.
Use a one-variable test instead of changing everything at once
A controlled test is faster than repeatedly switching multiple settings. It also shows whether the problem affects every Zenzap alert or only a particular type.
- Record the current state: Zenzap schedule, phone model, operating-system version, and whether the symptom is missing, silent, or delayed.
- Change only the most likely control. For an after-hours failure, change Zenzap to Always on. For a completely absent alert, check the operating-system permission first.
- Ask a teammate to send one ordinary message, wait for the result, and then send one direct @mention or reply.
- On Android, inspect both the visible alert and the notification shade. On iPhone, inspect every destination you enabled.
- Only after recording the result, change the next control, such as an Android category, Scheduled Summary, or Focus setting.
Testing both an ordinary message and a direct mention is useful because Zenzap’s working-hours rule treats direct mentions and replies as important exceptions. A mention arriving while ordinary messages do not may point to the in-app schedule rather than a broken phone permission.

Notifications stop at the same time every day
Open Zenzap’s Settings > Notifications and inspect Working hours only, including enabled weekdays and From/To times. Select Always on if the timing is not appropriate. If the phone still receives no alert during the new test, proceed to Android or iPhone permission checks.

Only one type of Android alert is absent
Open Settings > Notifications > App notifications > Zenzap and inspect individual categories. Enable the missing category and set it to Alerting. A global app switch can be on while a specific category remains disabled or silent.
The iPhone receives alerts in batches
Check whether Zenzap is in Scheduled Summary. Remove it when immediate delivery is required, then review active and scheduled Focus modes. If an alert appears in Notification Center but not as a banner, adjust the iPhone display destinations rather than reinstalling the app.
An alert exists but makes no sound
On Android, inspect the affected category and change Silent to Alerting. On iPhone, review the Zenzap notification page and enable Sounds if audio is desired. Also verify that your chosen visual destination is enabled, because sound and placement are separate options.
No alert appears anywhere after every check
Confirm the Zenzap schedule, then repeat the operating-system permission path for the device. On iPhone, if Zenzap is missing from the Notifications list, update or reinstall and respond to the permission request. If the app is enabled but still produces no test notification, collect diagnostic details and contact Zenzap support.
What to send Zenzap support
Zenzap’s Resource Hub directs users to its knowledge base and lists [email protected] for setup help. Contact support after the schedule and operating-system checks have been completed, and include enough detail for the team to distinguish delivery from display problems.
- Phone make and model.
- Android or iOS version.
- Zenzap app version.
- Whether notifications are missing, silent, or delayed.
- The Zenzap in-app Notifications page, including the selected schedule.
- The Android app-notification page or iPhone Zenzap notification page.
- Whether a normal message, a direct @mention, or a reply was used for the test.
Screenshots should show the relevant setting without exposing private message content or other people’s personal information. Mention the approximate time of a test and whether the phone was locked, since those details help explain a difference between a banner, a lock-screen entry, and a notification-center record.
Choose settings that match your work pattern
Use Always on for time-sensitive communication
Always on is suited to incident response, customer support, on-call rotations, and teams that operate beyond a fixed office schedule. It removes the Zenzap working-hours boundary, but the phone can still suppress alerts through Android categories, iPhone permissions, Scheduled Summary, or Focus.
Use Working hours only for routine team traffic
Working hours only reduces routine interruptions outside selected days and times. Before choosing it, confirm that its weekdays and From/To times reflect the team’s actual coverage. Direct @mentions and replies remain important exceptions according to Zenzap’s documentation, so use those when an urgent response is needed during the restricted period.
Separate visibility from urgency
On Android, Alerting versus Silent determines whether an enabled category makes sound or vibrates, while dots and lock-screen options determine where you notice it. On iPhone, Banners, Lock Screen, Notification Center, Sounds, and Badges are separate choices. Decide whether you need immediate interruption, a visible record to check later, or only an app-icon reminder; then enable the corresponding options instead of assuming every alert style must be on.
Final verification
A successful repair has a visible result that matches the setting you changed. With Zenzap set to Always on, an ordinary test should not wait for the former working-hours boundary. With Android set to Alerting, the category should produce the sound or vibration you selected and remain available in the shade. With iPhone notifications allowed and Zenzap outside Scheduled Summary or an excluding Focus, the test should appear in the destinations you enabled. If those conditions are true and a controlled test still fails, provide the collected device and screenshot details to Zenzap support rather than continuing to toggle unrelated settings.
