First check whether the lofi broadcast actually ended. If you see YouTube’s “Video paused. Continue watching?” prompt, the viewer’s playback paused; the creator’s live stream may still be running. If the stream is offline for everyone, investigate YouTube Studio’s stream-health messages and copyright notices instead.
Identify what stopped before changing settings
Check the screen where playback stopped, and—if you run the channel—ask whether other viewers can still watch. The symptom separates a viewer-side pause from a broadcast failure.

| What you see | What it points to | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Video paused. Continue watching?” | YouTube’s viewer inactivity check; it does not prove the broadcast ended. | Select “Yes” to resume playback. |
| Autoplay stops without that prompt | YouTube’s Autoplay inactivity limit may have been reached. | Check whether the viewer is on mobile data or Wi-Fi; see the limits below. |
| Spinning indicator, repeated buffering, or sudden quality drop | Playback or network trouble, potentially affected by live-stream delay. | Try a stable connection and a less aggressive low-latency option if the player offers one. |
| The broadcast is offline for everyone | A creator-side stream interruption, encoding/connection issue, or content enforcement action. | Inspect YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room health messages and any copyright or Community Guidelines notices. |
If you are a viewer: resolve pauses and buffering
“Video paused. Continue watching?”
With Autoplay enabled, YouTube says this prompt appears after 30 minutes of uninterrupted viewing on mobile, 60 minutes on the web, or 180 minutes on TV. These are YouTube Help’s current figures accessed in 2026; the page does not show a publication date. Select “Yes” to continue. YouTube says the check helps protect watch history and avoid using data when someone may not be watching. It is an intentional playback pause, not evidence that the creator’s lofi stream has gone offline. YouTube Help: Why YouTube asks, “Continue watching?”
Autoplay stops without the prompt
YouTube says Autoplay stops automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity on mobile data or after four hours on Wi-Fi. These limits concern the viewer’s Autoplay, not a universal time limit on a creator’s live broadcast. Check the connection type and Autoplay setting before concluding the channel stopped. - DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Buffering or quality changes
A spinning indicator, repeated buffering, or a quality drop suggests a playback or network problem rather than the inactivity prompt. YouTube notes that lower broadcast delay leaves less buffer and can increase the chance of interruptions; congestion and other factors can also affect live programming. Try a more stable internet connection. If the player makes a less aggressive low-latency option available, try it; the available controls can vary. If you run the lofi channel: diagnose an offline broadcast
Read the timestamped health messages
Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and inspect the timestamped stream-health messages around the moment the broadcast failed. Use the reported issue to guide your correction rather than replacing equipment or changing encoder settings at random. YouTube’s diagnostics describe problems including insufficient video output, unsupported encoding, and keyframes sent too infrequently; insufficient output can cause buffering. - Insufficient video output: Check the encoder’s outgoing video and connection against the specific health message.
- Unsupported encoding: Verify the encoder configuration against YouTube’s reported format issue.
- Keyframes too infrequent: Correct the keyframe interval indicated by the health warning; do not assume a value that the warning does not specify.
The exact message matters: these symptoms do not establish one universal cause, and the health page should be your starting point for an actual broadcast outage.

Check copyright and Community Guidelines notices
For a music stream that disappears, look in Studio for copyright or Community Guidelines strikes. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and says detected content may interrupt or terminate a broadcast. A license alone may not prevent interruption: YouTube says even licensed third-party music can be interrupted if the channel is not on the rights owner’s Content ID allowlist. Confirm that the rights cover live streaming on YouTube and ask the rights owner about allowlisting where applicable. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams

Does YouTube stop lofi streams after 12 hours?
The official 12-hour guidance concerns archiving and DVR, not a demonstrated universal cutoff for live broadcasts. YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours, and its setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That affects rewind and recording availability; it does not explain a stream that consistently stops after only a few hours. YouTube Help: Turn on DVR on live streams
A GitHub issue opened on May 12, 2019 records one creator’s report of a stream ending around 12 hours. It is an individual historical report, not official YouTube policy or proof of a platform-wide cutoff. GitHub issue #126
