How to Fix Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, or Mobile Data Problems After a Nothing Phone (3) Update

If your Nothing Phone (3) lost connectivity after an update, begin with reversible checks: restart the phone, confirm the affected radio is enabled, and check Settings > System > System Update for another available update. Download any update over Wi‑Fi and do not interrupt the installation. Then troubleshoot the connection that is failing. Nothing’s published instructions are general device guidance; they do not confirm that a specific Phone (3) update caused the fault, identify an affected build, or provide a Phone (3)-specific Bluetooth fix.

What the timing does—and does not—prove

A connection failure noticed immediately after an update may be related to software, but timing alone does not prove causation. The official Nothing Support material covers general Nothing-device troubleshooting rather than a confirmed Phone (3) bug. It does not name a faulty Nothing OS build, confirm a connectivity patch for Phone (3), or establish how frequently updates cause these problems.

That distinction matters because the safest first steps are the same whether the cause is an update, a saved-network problem, a SIM issue, an accessory pairing failure, or a temporary radio fault. Work from the least destructive checks toward the most disruptive one. Avoid changing several things at once: if you reboot, forget a network, replace a SIM, and reset settings together, you lose useful clues about what actually fixed the problem.

Before you troubleshoot

Write down what is failing. “The internet is slow” is different from “Wi‑Fi will not enable,” “the phone connects but drops every few minutes,” “mobile data shows no connection,” or “Bluetooth cannot discover an accessory.” Note whether calls and text messages still work, whether other devices can use the same Wi‑Fi network, and whether the problem affects one accessory or every accessory. These observations help separate a network-side fault from a phone-side fault.

Keep the phone charged while you test. If an update is still installing, leave it undisturbed until the process finishes. Do not force a shutdown during installation. If you have important local files, make a backup before any step that could erase data, especially a factory reset. Nothing’s guidance puts backup before resetting, not after.

Start with the safe checks

  1. Restart the phone. A reboot reloads the wireless and cellular services without erasing settings or personal data. After it starts, wait for the status icons to settle before deciding whether the fault remains.
  2. Check the relevant connection switch. Confirm Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile data is enabled in Quick Settings or Settings. If a switch appears enabled but the connection is absent, turn it off, wait briefly, and turn it back on.
  3. Check for another system update. Open Settings > System > System Update. If one is offered, download it over Wi‑Fi. Leave the phone alone while installation completes; do not power it off or interrupt the process.
  4. Retest after the phone finishes updating. Test the exact connection that failed rather than assuming the problem is resolved. Try one known-good Wi‑Fi network, one known-good accessory, or one SIM test so the result is clear.

Nothing’s general update guidance says, “Upgrading software to the latest version fixes software issues.” That is general advice, not a guarantee that a particular Phone (3) connectivity problem will be corrected. If no update is offered, continue with the connection-specific checks below rather than repeatedly checking for an update.

Fix Wi‑Fi problems

When the Wi‑Fi switch will not turn on

  1. Open Settings > Network & Internet > Internet > Wi‑Fi.
  2. Turn the Wi‑Fi switch off and on again.
  3. Turn Airplane mode on, wait briefly, and turn it off. Then return to the Wi‑Fi screen and try again.
  4. Restart the phone and test Wi‑Fi once more.

This sequence tests the radio control, a temporary airplane-mode state, and a clean restart. If the switch remains unavailable or immediately turns itself off, record that exact behavior. It is different from a password rejection or a network that connects and then drops, and the distinction is useful to support.

If Wi‑Fi still cannot be enabled after those steps, do not jump straight to a factory reset. Back up important data first. A reset is destructive and should be considered only after the reversible checks fail; contact Nothing Support if the fault remains. Nothing’s guidance does not identify a Phone (3)-specific reset procedure or promise that a reset will repair a radio that cannot be enabled.

When one saved network will not connect

First toggle Wi‑Fi and try a different Wi‑Fi network. Use a network you trust, such as another household or workplace connection, rather than changing router settings while diagnosing the phone. This comparison helps show whether the problem follows the phone or is limited to one network.

  1. Open Settings > Network & internet > Internet > Wi‑Fi > Saved Networks.
  2. Select the affected saved network and choose the option to forget or remove it.
  3. Return to the Wi‑Fi list, select the network again, and enter its password to reconnect.
  4. Test ordinary browsing or another simple data task, then note whether the connection stays present.

If another network works while the original does not, the evidence points toward that network’s saved profile or router environment rather than a phone-wide Wi‑Fi failure. If no network works, continue with the broader checks below and plan to contact support if they do not help. Forgetting a network removes its saved connection information; it does not erase your phone’s personal files.

When Wi‑Fi keeps dropping

  • Move closer to the router and test again. A change at short range helps distinguish coverage from a problem that occurs everywhere.
  • Check whether many devices are using the same network; temporarily reducing the number of connected devices can show whether congestion is involved.
  • Remove a metal protective case as a test, since it can affect radio performance in some situations. Put it back afterward if it makes no difference.
  • Toggle Wi‑Fi off and on, then observe whether the drop happens immediately or only after use.
  • Try another Wi‑Fi network. A second network is the most useful discriminator: a failure on only one network suggests a network-specific problem, while drops everywhere justify escalation to Nothing.

These checks are diagnostic as well as corrective. Record which networks work, whether the failure is a toggle problem or a drop-out, how close you were to the router, whether many devices were connected, and whether removing the case changed the result. Give those details to support instead of reporting only that “Wi‑Fi is broken.”

How to read Wi‑Fi test results

A single-network failure after forgetting and rejoining usually warrants attention to that network’s password, coverage, or router environment, not an immediate phone reset. A connection that works nearby but fails farther away suggests a range or interference issue. A phone that cannot enable Wi‑Fi, cannot join any network, or drops on several unrelated networks presents a broader phone-side symptom. None of these patterns proves that the update caused the failure, but they help Nothing determine what to investigate.

Fix mobile-data problems

Basic cellular recovery

  1. Restart the phone.
  2. Open the mobile-data control and turn mobile data back on.
  3. If the phone uses a removable SIM, power it down as appropriate, remove the SIM, check that it is seated correctly, and reinsert it. Then test mobile data.
  4. If available, test another SIM in the Phone (3). A second SIM can distinguish a handset problem from a SIM or account problem.

Give the phone a moment after reinserting a SIM before judging the result. Note whether the device recognizes the SIM, whether the mobile-data indicator appears, and whether the behavior changes in a different location. These observations are more useful than repeatedly toggling data without recording the result.

Nothing’s general instructions place SIM selection and preferred network type under Settings > Network & internet > SIMs. The exact labels and path were not verified as Phone (3)-specific, so use the wording shown on your handset. Do not enter carrier-specific APN values based on this guide: no carrier configuration or APN instructions were established here.

How to interpret the SIM tests

  • Your SIM fails but another SIM works: contact your carrier about the SIM or service before treating the phone as defective.
  • Both SIMs fail: the issue is more likely to be on the phone or its software, although carrier coverage and account status can still matter.
  • Data returns after reinserting the SIM but fails again: note the pattern and report it to Nothing Support rather than repeatedly resetting the phone.
  • Calls or texts also fail: tell both the carrier and Nothing, because the problem is broader than an isolated data toggle.

Nothing lists a factory reset only after backing up important data and recommends contacting support when mobile data remains unavailable. A reset erases local content and settings; it is not a routine first-line cellular fix. If a second SIM works reliably, resetting the phone is unlikely to solve the original SIM or account problem.

Fix Bluetooth pairing and connection failures

No official Phone (3)-specific post-update Bluetooth procedure was identified. The following are basic, reversible checks, not a verified Nothing Phone (3) software fix.

  1. Turn Bluetooth off and on from Settings or Quick Settings.
  2. Restart the Phone (3) and the affected accessory.
  3. Put the accessory into its pairing mode according to its own instructions.
  4. Remove the old pairing from the phone’s Bluetooth device list, then pair the accessory again.
  5. If possible, test a different Bluetooth accessory. This shows whether the failure is limited to one accessory or affects Bluetooth generally.

Keep the phone and accessory close together during the pairing attempt and make sure the accessory is not still connected to another device. If only one accessory fails while another pairs normally, the evidence points toward that accessory or its existing pairing state. If several unrelated accessories fail after ordinary re-pairing, document their names and the exact error, then contact Nothing Support.

Do not describe a factory reset as an official Bluetooth remedy when no Phone (3)-specific Bluetooth guidance has been verified. Back up your data before considering any destructive reset, and only use it after support or other troubleshooting has justified that step. There is no sourced Phone (3) Bluetooth patch, menu path, or special post-update procedure to substitute for support instructions.

When a factory reset is appropriate

A factory reset removes applications, accounts, locally stored files, and personal settings. It can eliminate a corrupted software state, but it cannot repair a damaged SIM, a failing accessory, a router problem, or a hardware radio fault. Nothing’s Wi‑Fi and mobile-data guidance places reset after the earlier checks and explicitly says to back up important data first.

Before resetting, make sure you have:

  • A current backup of photos, messages, contacts, authenticator data, and other files you cannot replace.
  • Access to the Google account and other credentials needed to set the phone up again.
  • Confirmed that the issue persists after a restart, connection toggle, update check, and the connection-specific tests above.
  • Written down the symptoms and test results, including which networks, SIMs, or accessories worked.
  • Allowed the latest installation to finish without interruption, if an update was available.

If the problem is still present after a properly prepared reset, stop repeating resets and arrange support or professional inspection. Persistent failure across multiple Wi‑Fi networks, SIMs, or Bluetooth accessories is stronger evidence of a phone-side fault than a failure limited to one network or accessory. A reset should be a documented last resort, not the first response to an update-related symptom.

A practical stop-and-escalate checklist

Symptom Complete these checks first Escalate when
Wi‑Fi will not switch on Toggle Wi‑Fi, cycle Airplane mode, restart, and check for a system update. The switch still will not enable; back up before any reset and contact Nothing.
One saved Wi‑Fi network fails Try another network, forget the saved network, and reconnect. Multiple networks fail or the problem continues after rejoining.
Wi‑Fi drops repeatedly Move closer to the router, consider the number of connected devices, remove a metal case, toggle Wi‑Fi, and test another network. Drops occur on more than one network after those tests.
Mobile data is unavailable Reboot, re-enable data, reseat the SIM, and test another SIM if available. More than one SIM fails; back up before a reset and contact Nothing.
Bluetooth will not pair Toggle Bluetooth, restart the phone and accessory, remove the old pairing, and pair again. Bluetooth fails with ordinary checks or multiple accessories; seek Nothing Support.

Use the escalation point that matches the evidence. A single router or accessory failure does not justify assuming the phone needs repair, while the same failure across multiple networks, SIMs, or accessories should not be dismissed as a password or pairing mistake.

What to tell Nothing Support

Support can work faster if you provide the phone’s current software version, the date the symptom began, whether it appeared immediately after the update, and the exact failure: switch unavailable, authentication failure, repeated drops, no cellular data, or pairing failure. Include the results of the second-network, second-SIM, or second-accessory tests. Also state whether a metal case was removed and whether a restart or later update changed anything.

Tell support whether you backed up before any reset and whether you have already reset the phone. Avoid claiming that an update caused the problem as a certainty; describe the timing and the tests. Keep the distinction clear: the official material supports general troubleshooting steps, not a confirmed Phone (3)-specific post-update defect. If Nothing later publishes a release note or dedicated Bluetooth article for a particular build, follow that device- and version-specific instruction over this general checklist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a connectivity failure after an update prove that the Nothing Phone (3) update caused it?

No. The timing is a useful clue, but Nothing’s published guidance is general device troubleshooting and does not identify a faulty Phone (3) build or confirm an update-related connectivity bug.

What should I do if the Phone (3) Wi‑Fi switch will not turn on?

Open Settings > Network & Internet > Internet > Wi‑Fi, toggle Wi‑Fi, cycle Airplane mode, and restart the phone. If it still will not enable, back up your data before considering a reset and contact Nothing Support.

Why should I try another Wi‑Fi network?

It separates a phone-wide problem from a network-specific one. If another network works, the saved profile or original router environment is more likely involved; if every network fails, tell Nothing Support.

What is the safest first step when mobile data stops working?

Restart the phone, turn mobile data back on, then remove and reinsert a removable SIM or test another SIM if one is available. Do not enter unverified carrier APN values from this guide.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is there an official Nothing Phone (3) Bluetooth fix after an update?

No Phone (3)-specific Bluetooth post-update procedure was verified. Toggle Bluetooth, restart the phone and accessory, remove the old pairing, and pair again; contact Nothing if multiple accessories still fail.

Should I factory-reset the Phone (3) immediately?

No. Nothing places a reset after the reversible Wi‑Fi and mobile-data checks and says to back up important data first. A reset erases local content and cannot repair a router, SIM, accessory, or hardware fault.

The Bottom Line

Restart first, verify the affected switch, and check Settings > System > System Update without interrupting installation. For Wi‑Fi, forget and rejoin the affected network and compare another network. For mobile data, reseat or replace-test the SIM. For Bluetooth, use only basic toggle, restart, and re-pair checks because no Phone (3)-specific procedure is confirmed. Back up before any factory reset, and contact Nothing Support when the failure persists across multiple networks, SIMs, or accessories.
