Check the PC and account requirements before changing anything
Ubisoft’s current US product page lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 for the PC version. It also lists a Ubisoft account and Ubisoft Connect as requirements. The game is tied to the Ubisoft account used to play it, so a launcher that is installed but signed in to a different account can look like a launch failure or an unavailable game.
- Confirm that the computer is running Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Install Ubisoft Connect and open it before starting the game.
- Sign in with the Ubisoft account that owns or has access to Watch Dogs 2.
- Check that the game appears in that account’s library and that its installation location is the one you expect.
- Leave Easy Anti-Cheat installed; Ubisoft states that the game cannot launch when it has been uninstalled.

If the setup program is missing, will not run, or the message remains after it runs, Ubisoft directs players to its general Easy Anti-Cheat troubleshooting guide. At that stage, record the exact message and tell support that the setup executable was attempted. Do not assume that downloading a replacement executable from an unverified website is equivalent to Ubisoft’s repair path.

- Open Ubisoft Connect directly rather than relying on a desktop shortcut.
- Verify that you are signed in to the account that owns the game.
- Confirm that the game is installed in the library shown by Ubisoft Connect.

- Record whether the crash occurs before the main menu, while loading a save, immediately after entering the world, or after a period of play.
- Copy the exact text of any Windows, Ubisoft Connect, or in-game error.
- Note whether the program closes to the desktop, freezes, or forces a computer restart.
- Check whether the same location or action triggers the crash every time, or whether it is intermittent.
- Write down any software or hardware change that occurred before the first failure.
Then follow Ubisoft’s general technical troubleshooting guide linked from the Watch Dogs 2 support article. The title-specific article is the authority for routing the problem; the general guide supplies the current procedures and should be used in the edition and language appropriate to your region.

The documented flow does not support that conclusion. A launch failure can be caused by a missing Easy Anti-Cheat component, and Ubisoft’s performance guidance begins by comparing the PC with requirements.
