Start by identifying the failure type. Rubber-banding, disconnects, “check your internet” messages, and matches in which other players freeze usually indicate a network-path problem. Low frame rates, stutter, and visual instability point first to hardware, drivers, graphics settings, or a shader cache. A crash to the desktop or a game that will not open points first to the client, graphics drivers, local files, or a support case. Work through one change at a time so you can tell which condition actually changes the result.
Classify the symptom before changing settings
War Robots can appear “laggy” for very different reasons. A delayed network update is not fixed by lowering graphics quality, while a rendering problem will not be solved by changing Wi-Fi channels. Use the visible symptom and the timing of the failure to choose the first branch.

| What you see | Most likely first area | Useful confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Rubber-banding, sudden disconnects, “check your internet” messages, or frozen opponents in an otherwise loaded match | Network path between the PC and the game service | The symptom changes after using another network, another Wi-Fi band, or a wired connection |
| Low frame rate, recurring stutter, or unstable visuals without a disconnect | PC hardware, graphics settings, driver, or shader cache | The behavior changes after a graphics-driver or shader-cache change, or when the rendering load is reduced |
| Crash to desktop, crash during startup, or failure to open | Game client, graphics driver, local files, or a support case | The failure occurs at a repeatable launch or in-game step rather than only during a network interruption |
Write down the symptom, when it starts, and whether the entire game stops responding or only the match state stops updating. That distinction prevents you from performing unrelated network and graphics changes at the same time.

Fix connection and in-match lag
MY.GAMES identifies a weak or unstable connection as the usual cause of connection problems and recommends starting with the local network. Steam also states that War Robots requires a stable internet connection for the best gameplay experience. These checks are low-risk and help separate a local wireless problem from a wider service or account issue.

1. Restart the PC and Wi-Fi router
- Exit War Robots completely.
- Restart the PC.
- If the PC uses Wi-Fi, restart the Wi-Fi router as well. MY.GAMES gives this restart as its first connection recommendation.
- Launch the game again and play long enough to reproduce the original symptom.
A restart can clear a transient connection state, but an improvement after reboot is not proof that the router is defective. Record whether the issue returns after several matches.
2. Test a different network
Connect the PC through another available network, such as a different Wi-Fi service or a temporary phone hotspot, and repeat the same activity. Keep the game, account, and PC unchanged while you test. If lag or disconnects disappear on the other network, the result is evidence of a problem somewhere along the original local network path. It does not identify a particular router, cable, or internet provider as the cause.
If the symptom is identical on two unrelated networks, stop treating it as a purely local Wi-Fi problem and continue with the client, driver, hardware, or support branches.
3. Compare 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi
When both bands are available, connect to 2.4 GHz, reproduce the issue, then connect to 5 GHz and repeat. MY.GAMES specifically recommends switching between these bands. A change in behavior is useful evidence:
- Better results on 5 GHz can indicate interference or congestion affecting the 2.4 GHz band, especially at short range.
- Better results on 2.4 GHz can indicate that distance or walls are weakening the 5 GHz signal.
- No meaningful difference suggests that changing bands is not the main fix for this incident.
4. Reduce wireless interference
MY.GAMES recommends changing the wireless channel to reduce interference. Make one channel change, then repeat the same in-game test rather than changing several router settings together. Also consider nearby Bluetooth headphones: MY.GAMES notes that Bluetooth devices operating on the same 2.4 GHz band can contribute to interference. Temporarily testing without those headphones can show whether they are part of the local radio problem.

5. Keep a small connection test log
- Network used and Wi-Fi band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz).
- Approximate time and time zone.
- Whether the failure was rubber-banding, a disconnect, a “check your internet” message, or frozen players.
- Whether restarting the router, changing band, changing channel, or using another network changed the result.
Use one change per test. A temporary improvement is still valuable: it tells you which branch deserves further attention, even if it does not prove a single component is faulty.
Check whether the PC meets the published requirements
Compare the computer with the requirements published by MY.GAMES. The figures below are the published baseline and recommendation for the PC version, identified by MY.GAMES as 2026 requirements.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 7 | Windows 10 |
| Processor | 2.5 GHz CPU | 3.2 GHz CPU |
| Memory | 2 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | DirectX 11 graphics with 2 GB VRAM | NVIDIA GTX 960 |
| Storage | 4 GB | 8 GB |
MY.GAMES summarizes the memory figures as “2 GB RAM minimum; 8 GB RAM recommended” and the graphics figures as “DX11 graphics with 2 GB VRAM minimum; NVIDIA GTX 960 recommended.” These are thresholds, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or connection quality.
How to interpret the comparison
- Below minimum: Expect a higher risk of rendering instability or launch trouble. Reduce expectations before buying or changing other equipment; a network tweak cannot make insufficient graphics memory render reliably.
- At minimum but below recommended: The game may start, yet low frame rate or stutter can remain, especially when the scene is demanding.
- At or above recommended: Persistent crashes still warrant driver and shader-cache troubleshooting. Meeting the recommendation does not eliminate client or driver faults.
Requirements do not explain every disconnect. A computer can exceed the graphics recommendation and still lose a match because the network path is unstable, just as a stable network cannot prevent a graphics-driver crash.
Address low frame rate, stutter, and visual instability
When the match remains connected but movement or rendering is uneven, start with the rendering branch rather than repeatedly restarting the router. Compare the symptom with the requirements table, then check the graphics software.

Use the symptom to choose the next test
- If lowering the rendering load changes the stutter while the connection remains active, the evidence favors hardware or graphics settings.
- If the screen freezes and the game then closes, treat the event as a crash and follow the driver and shader-cache steps below.
- If players freeze while menus and the camera remain responsive, return to the network tests; a visual pause alone does not prove a graphics fault.
Change only one graphics setting or condition between tests and note the result. Avoid declaring a component faulty based on one short improvement.
Stop crashes by checking the graphics driver and shader cache
MY.GAMES says crashes can be caused by GPU failure and recommends updating the graphics driver and clearing the relevant vendor shader cache when appropriate. Shader data is reused by the renderer; damaged or incompatible cached data can therefore be a useful crash suspect after a driver change or repeated visual failure.
1. Update the graphics driver
- Identify whether the PC uses NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel graphics.
- Install the current driver intended for that graphics hardware and operating system, following the vendor’s normal installation process.
- Restart Windows after the driver installation.
- Run War Robots and repeat the exact action that previously caused the crash.
Do not combine a driver update with several unrelated system changes if you need to identify the cause. A crash that disappears immediately after the driver update supports a driver-related diagnosis, but it does not prove the GPU itself is failing.
2. Clear the relevant shader cache
The MY.GAMES technical guidance describes clearing shader-cache folders for NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel graphics. Use the cache-clearing procedure for the vendor installed in your PC, close the game first, and restart Windows afterward if the vendor procedure calls for it. The first launch after clearing may rebuild shader data, so judge the result after the game has had time to recreate its cache.
Clear the cache as a targeted troubleshooting step, not as routine maintenance. If the crash continues unchanged, restore your attention to the driver, client, hardware, or support branches instead of repeatedly deleting the same data.

3. Treat GPU Debug Mode as a diagnostic aid
MY.GAMES notes that GPU Debug Mode can provide useful crash data while affecting performance. Enable it only when collecting diagnostic information or following a support request. Because it may reduce performance, do not use a lower frame rate while Debug Mode is enabled as evidence that the original game configuration was too demanding. Disable it for normal play after the diagnostic test.
When the game will not launch or the hangar will not load
A failure before a match begins is different from in-match rubber-banding. Record exactly where the process stops: before the game window appears, during loading, at the hangar, or immediately after selecting a mode. That timing gives support a reproducible starting point.
Separate launch failure from connection failure
- Game never opens or closes during startup: prioritize the client, graphics driver, local files, and a support report.
- Game opens but cannot load the hangar or reports an internet problem: perform the restart, alternate-network, band, and interference tests first.
- Only one account or platform fails while another setup works: include the account and platform distinction in the report rather than assuming the PC is at fault.
Do not describe every startup problem as “lag.” Support can act more quickly when the report states whether there was a crash, a frozen loading screen, a disconnect, or an explicit connection message.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use a decision matrix instead of guessing
| Test result | What it supports | Next move |
|---|---|---|
| Another network removes the symptom | Original local network path, Wi-Fi conditions, or interference | Continue comparing bands and channels; report the network-dependent pattern if it persists |
| 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz produce different results | Wireless-band conditions rather than the game client alone | Use the more stable band while investigating interference and channel conditions |
| Driver update changes or removes a crash | Graphics-driver interaction | Document the driver version and the exact crash step |
| Shader-cache clearing changes a repeated crash | Cached shader data was involved | Allow the cache to rebuild and report the before-and-after behavior |
| No network test changes a crash to desktop | Client, driver, hardware, or local-file problem | Prepare a launch or bug report with complete system and timing details |
| The PC is below the published minimum | Insufficient baseline hardware or operating-system support | Set realistic performance expectations and include the specification comparison in any support request |
This matrix is about evidence, not certainty. For example, a temporary improvement on another network demonstrates that the network path matters, but it does not identify whether the cause is interference, router state, or another local condition.

Common troubleshooting mistakes
Changing everything at once
Restarting the router, switching bands, updating a driver, clearing a cache, and changing graphics settings in one session removes the evidence needed to identify the cause. Make one change, reproduce the same scenario, and record the result.
Calling every pause “internet lag”
A frame-rate drop, shader compilation issue, or driver crash can look like a brief freeze. Check whether the match disconnects, whether other players move again, and whether the game remains open. The symptom determines the correct branch.
Assuming requirements guarantee smooth play
The published minimum and recommended specifications describe a baseline, not a promised frame rate in every scene. A PC at the minimum may launch while still struggling with stutter; a PC above the recommendation can still experience a driver or client crash.
Leaving GPU Debug Mode enabled for normal play
Debug Mode is for collecting useful crash information. MY.GAMES warns that it can affect performance, so compare ordinary gameplay only after disabling it.
Sending support an incomplete timeline
“It crashes sometimes” does not tell support whether the event occurs at startup, while loading the hangar, or during a match. Include the first date noticed, frequency, time zone, reproduction steps, and what changed after each test.
What the available evidence does—and does not—show
There is no published prevalence statistic establishing what percentage of War Robots PC players experience lag, crashes, or disconnects. The troubleshooting guidance also does not establish that a particular third-party optimizer, router, cable, or graphics card will fix an individual player’s problem. Use the tests above to collect evidence about your own setup rather than treating any single remedy as universal.
