There is no single fix for every Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection crash or stutter. Start with the exact error and when it occurs, then test the matching steps below: graphics-driver and stability checks for a device-hung error, overlay conflicts for intermittent stuttering, and page-file settings for the game’s specific video-memory warning. Change one thing at a time so you can tell whether it helped.
Before changing settings, identify the failure
Write down the exact warning or error code and whether the problem happens at launch, during a particular scene, or unpredictably. Also note the game version and store, GPU and CPU, graphics-driver version, resolution, graphics settings, and whether overclocking, overlays, capture tools, antivirus features, or enhancement software are active.

The distinction matters: a graphics device hang is not the same problem as a video-memory warning, and a crash that repeats at the same point can have different causes from a random freeze. Nixxes says random device hangs can have several contributing factors; repeatable hangs may indicate corrupted game files, hardware incompatibility, or a bug. Nixxes’ device-hung guidance recommends treating the error and circumstances as clues, not as proof of one cause.

This message means the graphics card stopped responding. Nixxes lists outdated or corrupted drivers, software conflicts, overclocking, overheating, and hardware instability as possible contributors. Work through reversible checks before considering hardware changes.

- Clean-install the graphics driver. Use the clean-install option in the driver installer for your GPU, then restart the PC and retest the game. Nixxes provides instructions for a clean graphics-driver installation.
- Reduce graphics load. Lower the preset or resolution and temporarily disable optional features such as frame generation. If the crash stops, restore settings one at a time to identify which change matters; this is a diagnostic test, not a guaranteed fix.
- Close background apps and overlays. Shut down capture, monitoring, and other software that hooks into the game, then test again.
- Return overclocked hardware to its default settings. If the game becomes stable at defaults, investigate the overclock’s stability rather than assuming the game itself is the only cause.
- Verify the game files through the launcher or store where you installed it. This is particularly relevant if the crash repeats at the same point.
- If you use an NVIDIA GPU, try Debug Mode. Nixxes includes this as an additional troubleshooting check for the device-hung error.
These steps are tests of possible causes. Avoid blanket driver rollbacks, deleting arbitrary files, unofficial executables, or registry edits: the official troubleshooting guidance cited here does not establish those as general fixes.
Test overlays and enhancement software for stuttering
Overlays and programs that hook into a game can sometimes contribute to stuttering, freezing, performance problems, or crashes. Nixxes names OBS, ReShade, Overwolf, SteelSeries GG Sonar, Logitech G-Hub, RTSS, MSI Afterburner, and NVIDIA Filters as examples. Temporarily disable or detach one at a time, then replay the same scene or activity and compare the result. If the symptom does not change, restore that tool and test the next one. Check antivirus features if the game stutters or freezes
Nixxes reports player feedback that Malwarebytes Real-Time Protection and/or Ransomware Protection can affect game performance. If you use Malwarebytes and the symptom fits, temporarily test whether disabling the relevant feature changes the behavior, or try an exception as Nixxes suggests. Restore your protection after testing; do not leave security features disabled as a permanent workaround. This is a possible association, not a diagnosis. Address the specific video-memory warning
If the game displays its video-memory warning, follow the warning’s direct advice first: lower the graphics settings and resolution, and close unnecessary background applications. Nixxes also says the message can appear when Windows page-file allocation is insufficient, including on high-end hardware.

As an initial test, let Windows manage page-file size automatically. This is not a universal fix: documented cases show automatic growth can itself result in allocation errors. If changing the setting does not help or causes another allocation problem, consult Microsoft’s page-file troubleshooting guidance rather than applying an arbitrary fixed size. Check your PC against the game’s published targets
PlayStation publishes average performance targets for different hardware tiers. They set expectations for resolution, frame rate, and quality; they are not guarantees that a particular PC will achieve them or remain crash-free. The configurations below are from PlayStation’s current, undated PC specifications page, accessed in 2026. Naughty Dog’s September 28, 2022 support article records the same broad tiers: recommended PC specifications.

Compare your actual GPU and its VRAM, CPU, RAM, storage, and intended settings with the tier closest to your target. Falling short can explain performance limits, but meeting or exceeding a target does not rule out a software conflict or instability. The PC version also offers graphics settings, GPU/VRAM management options, ultrawide support, and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2; these give you ways to adjust image quality and performance, not a guaranteed crash fix.

Report a crash that you can reproduce
If the crash repeats, submit it through the in-game Crash Report window. Nixxes asks you to include the log from the same session—the log resets when the game launches again—a ZIP of the save-folder contents, and DxDiag.txt with your support request.
