Most achievement problems in The Witch’s Bakery have one of three causes: an incompatible demo save on Steam, the known Estelle relationship lock, or a requirement that has not been completed in the same save. The reliable fixes are to switch Steam back to Default Public Version and start a new game after the demo, edit one Estelle save value after making a backup, or finish the specific chapter, quest, relationship, earnings, recipe, activity, and decoration requirements.
Identify which achievement problem you have
The symptom usually indicates the right recovery method. A Continue button does not prove that a demo save can be used safely: the release build can display the old save even though the developer says the formats are incompatible.

Fix a Steam save carried over from the demo
Sunny Lab’s Steam notice dated October 14, 2026 says that demo saves are incompatible with the release build. The release version may still show a Continue button, but continuing from that file can leave the game stuck. The developer’s exact warning is: “You should start a new game, since saves are incompatible and the game will get stuck at some point if you continue with your old save.”

Switch to the supported Steam branch
- Open your Steam Library and select The Witch’s Bakery.
- Right-click the game and choose Properties.
- Open Game Versions & Betas.
- Set the branch to Default Public Version.
- Close the Properties window and let Steam finish any update or file synchronization.
Start a genuinely new game
Launch the game after the branch change and choose New Game, not Continue. The new run is necessary even if the old slot appears in the menu. A release installation can retain the demo save in the local save folder, so merely changing branches or uninstalling a demo branch does not convert that data into a compatible release save.

If Steam Cloud asks which files to keep, retain the files created by the current release installation only if you are intentionally beginning over. If you are unsure, cancel the prompt, make a copy of the local save folder, and then relaunch after selecting Default Public Version. Do not repeatedly open the old Continue slot hoping that the next chapter will repair it; the incompatibility is at the save-format level.
Why deleting the demo branch is not enough
Sunny Lab specifically notes that removing the demo branch does not remove the old save. The file can remain on disk and continue to appear in the release menu. That is why the fix has two parts: use the default public branch and create a new save. Starting over also prevents Steam Cloud from reintroducing the incompatible slot as the only visible continuation.
What happens to achievements after restarting
Achievements earned on Steam are associated with the Steam account, but the game’s unlock conditions are evaluated from the compatible active save. A clean run is therefore the dependable way to trigger story and progression achievements that stopped working after the demo. Keep the old files as a backup if you want to preserve them for reference, but do not use that slot as the basis for the release playthrough.

Unlock Estelle’s second heart when it is locked
The current version contains a separate Estelle relationship bug. In the affected scene, choosing the bottom dialogue branch sets a lock that prevents the second heart from opening. Sunny Lab says the next version fixes the bug, but the official workaround can be applied now by changing one value in the save file.

Back up the correct save before editing
- Exit the game completely so it is not writing to the slot while you edit it.
- Open
C:Users<username>AppDataLocalLowSunny LabThe Witch’s BakeryGameFilesSlot_0. - Copy
Save.lunneto another folder, such as your desktop or an external backup location. Keep the original filename and folder untouched until the fix works. - If you use Steam Cloud, temporarily avoid launching the game during the edit so Cloud cannot overwrite the corrected file with the older copy.
Change the relationship lock
- Open the backed-up working copy of
Save.lunnein a plain-text editor. - Use the editor’s Find command to search for the exact identifier

relationshipLevelsLocked. - Change its value from
truetofalse. Do not alter the identifier, punctuation, quotation marks, or any neighboring values. - Save the file as
Save.lunnein the originalSlot_0folder, replacing the unedited file only after confirming that your backup exists. - Launch the game and load the edited slot. Continue the relationship normally and check whether the second heart is available.
Sunny Lab describes the result this way: “This will unlock the second heart, and let the relationship progress as normal.” The edit changes the lock state; it does not recreate content that was skipped. In particular, the developer says the theater scene will not return after the workaround. If preserving that scene matters more than keeping the current slot, wait for the game update or replay from an earlier save before the affected dialogue choice.
If the edited save will not load
- Restore the untouched backup and verify that the file is still named
Save.lunne, notSave.lunne.txt. - Confirm that only the value after
relationshipLevelsLockedwas changed and that it now readsfalse. - Check that you edited the slot you actually play. The documented path is
Slot_0; editing a different slot will not affect the active run. - If Steam Cloud restores the old state, close the game, replace the local file with the corrected backup, and resolve the Cloud prompt in favor of the corrected local copy.
- When the next game version is available, update before attempting more manual edits; the developer has said the bug is scheduled for a fix.
Complete every achievement condition on a compatible save
The achievement guide groups the remaining unlocks into story, side-quest, relationship, bakery-earnings, recipe, Paris-activity, and decoration categories. The fastest way to diagnose a missing unlock is to identify its category rather than replaying the entire game immediately.
Finish all five chapters
Story achievements unlock at the ends of Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Reach each chapter’s ending on the active compatible save. If a chapter appears complete but its achievement is absent, first verify that you saw the chapter-end transition rather than stopping immediately after the final objective. On a demo-derived slot, do not spend time replaying chapter endings: restart on the Default Public Version instead.

Completing all side quests unlocks The Heart Of Paris. A single unfinished side quest is enough to block this achievement even when the main story is complete. Review the quest list before moving to the next chapter and finish outstanding tasks in the same save. If a quest is tied to a relationship or a Paris activity, complete that related objective as well; the guide treats side-quest completion as a separate condition from simply reaching Chapter 5.

Max each character relationship
Relationship achievements require the relevant character’s relationship to reach its maximum level. Estelle’s locked second heart is the known exception that can prevent normal progression. Use the save-file workaround only after making a backup, and remember that it unlocks future progress but does not restore the skipped theater scene.
Reach the bakery-earnings thresholds in one save
The listed bakery totals are 100 euros, 1,000 euros, and 7,500 euros. AllThingsHow Staff’s 2026 guide states that these totals are tracked within a single save. Money earned across separate runs therefore should not be expected to combine. Keep selling and recording earnings on one compatible playthrough until each threshold is reached.

Complete the recipe and cooking set
The guide lists achievements for recipe and cooking completion. Treat these as collection objectives: learn or prepare every recipe required by the achievement rather than assuming that finishing the story automatically covers the set. If one cooking achievement is missing, check for an unprepared recipe before replaying a chapter.
Complete the Paris activities
Paris-activity achievements require the activity set described in the guide. Visit and finish each activity that the game tracks, including any that are introduced through side content. Because these achievements are separate from the chapter endings, reaching the final chapter alone is not sufficient.

Buy every decoration collection
Decoration achievements require buying every collection listed by the game. Check the bakery’s decoration options after earning more money and after story progress unlocks additional choices. A missing purchase can block the collection achievement even when the bakery looks substantially decorated.
Handle the one missable dialogue choice
The achievement guide identifies one missable dialogue choice per playthrough. If you selected the wrong branch, a second run may be required for the affected achievement or relationship outcome. This is different from the Estelle bug: the Estelle workaround changes a lock flag, while a missed choice can require replaying the relevant sequence on another run.
When to start a second run
- Start over immediately if the run used a demo save on the release build; that slot is unsupported.
- Consider a second run when the missable dialogue branch has already been chosen and no earlier save is available.
- Do not restart solely because a collection achievement is absent; first check side quests, earnings, recipes, activities, and decorations on the current compatible save.
Record the dialogue choice that produced the missing outcome before beginning the replay. On the second run, use the alternate branch and continue far enough for the affected relationship or achievement condition to register.
Steam, console, and release-version considerations
The Witch’s Bakery is a 2D narrative Adventure RPG by Sunny Lab, published by Silver Lining Interactive. The Steam release date is October 14, 2026, and the store listing includes Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. The demo-save warning applies to the Steam branch and its local save compatibility; it is not evidence that every platform has the same save problem.

Sunny Lab’s launch update states that physical editions for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 became available Friday, October 16, 2026. On a console, use the current installed version and the platform’s own save-management tools rather than applying the Windows file-edit procedure. If a console achievement or trophy does not appear after a documented condition, restart the game, verify that the system has synchronized the latest save, and contact the developer through the support route below.
What to do when an achievement still does not unlock
- Confirm that the game is running the release build, not a beta or demo branch. On Steam, the documented setting is Default Public Version under Properties → Game Versions & Betas.
- Check whether the active slot began from the demo. If it did, stop troubleshooting that slot and create a new game.
- Match the missing achievement to its condition: chapter ending, all side quests, maximum relationship, 100/1,000/7,500 euros, recipes, Paris activities, or decorations.
- For Estelle, determine whether the bottom dialogue branch caused the lock. Back up the file before changing
relationshipLevelsLockedtofalse. - For the missable dialogue outcome, use an earlier save if available; otherwise plan for a second run.
- Restart the game after the condition is met and allow Steam Cloud or the console service to finish synchronization before checking the achievement list again.
If the condition is complete and the achievement remains missing, Sunny Lab asks players to report unresolved bugs in Steam Discussions and to search for an existing thread before opening a duplicate. Include the platform, game version, save situation (demo-derived or new), the exact achievement, and the steps that triggered the expected unlock. Do not upload an unredacted save if it contains personal information in its path or metadata.
Practical order for a clean completion run
- Install or update the release version and, on Steam, select Default Public Version.
- Begin a new game if the demo was ever played on that installation.
- Advance through Chapters 1–5 while clearing side quests before leaving their availability windows.
- Track the one missable dialogue choice and keep a backup or earlier save before it.
- Build each character relationship to its maximum; if Estelle’s second heart locks, use the documented backup-and-edit procedure.
- Work toward 100, 1,000, and 7,500 euros without changing saves.
- Finish every recipe, Paris activity, and decoration collection.
- After the final chapter and all collections are complete, restart the game once so pending platform synchronization can finish.
This order minimizes unnecessary restarts: it separates the Steam compatibility problem from the Estelle flag bug, preserves a recovery point for the missable dialogue, and keeps cumulative bakery earnings on one supported save.
