If the Good Lock volume slider is missing, frozen, or moves without changing sound, the quickest fix is usually to restore Sound Assistant’s expanded-panel settings, update Good Lock and Sound Assistant, clear Sound Assistant’s cache, and restart your Galaxy phone. Then verify that the slider is controlling the intended audio stream and output.
Sound Assistant is a Good Lock Labs module for Galaxy phones. It adds an expanded volume panel, per-app controls, 150-step fine volume, media-versus-ringtone volume-button control, and audio-output switching. A slider failure therefore often reflects a module setting, stale app state, or a change after a One UI update rather than a defective volume key.

Start with this five-minute repair
- Open Good Lock and select Sound Assistant.
- Turn on Customize Volume Panel.
- Choose Custom, open Expanded Panel, and enable App Volume.
- Install any available updates for both Good Lock and Sound Assistant.
- Go to Settings > Apps > Sound Assistant > Storage, tap Clear cache, and restart the phone.
Press a physical volume key after the restart. Tap the arrow or three-dot control on the standard panel to open the expanded panel. Test one app while audio is playing. If the standard volume bar works but the app sliders do not appear or do not update, continue with the checks below.
What the slider is actually controlling
Sound Assistant can expose several controls that look similar but affect different destinations. The main volume key may be set to change media or ringtone volume. A call stream is separate from both, and an app can be sending sound to the phone speaker, Bluetooth headphones, a car system, or another selected output. Moving a slider for the wrong stream or endpoint can look exactly like a nonresponsive control.

Restore the expanded panel and app sliders
This is the direct remedy when individual application controls disappear or the expanded panel no longer opens as expected.
- Open Good Lock.
- Open the Sound Assistant module.
- Enable Customize Volume Panel.
- Select Custom.
- Open Expanded Panel.
- Turn on App Volume.
- Press a physical volume key, then tap the panel’s arrow or three-dot control.
Start media playback before testing. The app-volume rows are meaningful only when an application is producing audio. If the rows are present but remain stale, do not repeatedly drag them; proceed to the update and cache steps.
Update Good Lock and Sound Assistant
Sound Assistant is a versioned Galaxy Store module, so the phone can have a current One UI build while the audio module remains older. The Galaxy Store listing records One UI 8 and One UI 9 support notes and lists Sound Assistant version 8.5.00.2, dated 2026-05-22. Your available version can differ by device, region, or the date you check.

- Open the official store used on your Galaxy phone for Good Lock and its modules.
- Check updates for Good Lock.
- Open the Sound Assistant module page and install its update if one is offered.
- Reopen Sound Assistant and repeat the expanded-panel configuration check.
- Restart the phone if the panel still shows old controls.
This step matters most when the failure began immediately after a phone or One UI update. In a Samsung Community solved report, updating Sound Assistant through Good Lock restored the controls immediately. If Good Lock itself will not update, finish the system update, restart, and check the module again rather than assuming the volume hardware has failed.
Clear Sound Assistant’s cache and restart
A cached or temporary app state can leave the panel visible while its values stop refreshing. Clearing the cache removes temporary files without using the more destructive reset options that are not needed for this symptom.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Select Sound Assistant.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap Clear cache.
- Restart the Galaxy phone.
After startup, play audio from a single app, open the expanded panel, and move that app’s slider. Test the speaker first. Then test the Bluetooth or other output you normally use. A restart is also appropriate when Samsung’s sound guidance identifies a temporary system error as a possible cause.

Check the selected stream and output
Make sure media is playing
App-volume controls affect application audio. Start a song, video, game, or other continuous media before judging whether an app row responds. A silent or paused app provides no audible change even when the control is operating.
Distinguish media, ringtone, and call audio
Sound Assistant can assign the physical volume buttons to media instead of ringtone. If the panel is changing ringtone volume while you are listening to media, the media level will appear unchanged. Read the stream label shown in the panel and adjust the stream that is active. Call audio is a separate case and should be tested during a call, not from a media session.
Check the destination device
Sound Assistant supports application output switching. Confirm whether sound is going to the phone’s speaker, a Bluetooth device, a car system, or another endpoint. Change the output temporarily to the local speaker and test again. If the speaker responds but the external device does not, the slider is likely working and the issue is tied to routing or the selected device.

Rule out system sound blockers
Samsung identifies several settings that can make a working volume control appear ineffective:
- Mute all sounds: confirm it is off.
- Do Not Disturb: review its sound restrictions and schedule.
- Volume settings: verify that the relevant stream is not already at zero or limited by another setting.
- Temporary system errors: restart after clearing the Sound Assistant cache.
Test with a simple local media file or a known working app. This separates a module problem from an app that is paused, muted internally, or sending audio elsewhere.

A post-update failure has a different priority than a slider that has never worked. First update Good Lock and Sound Assistant, then recheck Customize Volume Panel, Expanded Panel, and App Volume. One UI changes can leave a module installed but operating with an older configuration or codebase.
Record the phone model and One UI build before contacting support. Also note the Good Lock and Sound Assistant versions, whether the standard volume panel still works, and whether the failure affects the speaker, Bluetooth, or both. These details show whether the problem is limited to Sound Assistant or affects the wider audio system.

If the standard panel changes sound normally but the Sound Assistant panel fails, concentrate on module settings, updates, cache, and routing. If neither panel changes audio, investigate the stream, output, mute settings, and system state before treating Sound Assistant as the cause.
Use a controlled test to identify the failure
- Disconnect Bluetooth and select the phone speaker.
- Turn off Mute all sounds and review Do Not Disturb.
- Start media in one app.
- Press a volume key and confirm the panel identifies media.
- Open the expanded panel and move that app’s slider.
- Reconnect the external audio device and repeat the same test.
- Test a second app to determine whether the fault is per-app or system-wide.
Write down what changes: the on-screen number, the audible level, the selected output, and whether the app row remains visible. This avoids guessing and gives support a reproducible sequence.

When to contact Samsung through Members
If the controls remain missing or stale after the configuration, update, cache, restart, stream, output, and blocker checks, submit an error report in Samsung Members. This is the appropriate escalation for a reproducible module failure.
Include:
- Exact Galaxy model.
- One UI version and build.
- Good Lock version.
- Sound Assistant version.
- When the problem began and whether it followed an update.
- Whether the standard volume panel still works.
- Whether the failure affects media, ringtone, calls, per-app sliders, the speaker, Bluetooth, or another output.
- The exact steps that reproduce the issue.
Describe the result after each attempted fix, especially whether updating Sound Assistant or clearing its cache changed anything. A precise report is more useful than saying only that “the volume is broken.”
