The right fix depends on whether Motorfest is failing to launch, crashing during play, delivering uneven frame pacing, or losing its online connection. Start by identifying the platform, storefront, exact symptom, error text, and when the problem began. Ubisoft sends connection failures to its dedicated Motorfest connectivity troubleshooting guide; crashes and low FPS on PC are routed through the general technical troubleshooting section.
There is no published universal fix or single confirmed cause for every crash, stutter, or disconnection. The steps below separate the symptoms, check the requirements Ubisoft publishes, and show exactly what information to collect before escalating a persistent problem.

First classify the problem
Do not troubleshoot every symptom as if it were the same fault. A launch crash, an in-game crash, low average FPS, visible hitching, and an online-service error can have different causes and are handled through different Ubisoft support paths.

The game closes immediately, never reaches the main menu, or displays an error before you can play. On PC, check whether BattlEye is present. Ubisoft says BattlEye is installed automatically, is required to play, and the game will not launch if BattlEye has been uninstalled. This requirement appears on the Ubisoft Store listing.

Crash during play
Record whether the crash happens at a repeatable point, such as loading a race, entering a particular area, changing menus, or after a specific amount of time. A repeatable trigger is more useful to support than “it crashes sometimes.” Include the platform and storefront (Ubisoft Connect, Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox) in your report.
Low FPS versus stuttering
Low FPS means the game is consistently rendering fewer frames than expected. Stuttering is uneven frame delivery: the frame-rate counter may look acceptable while the image pauses or hitches. Ubisoft’s PC support summary explicitly mentions low FPS and crashes, but it does not state that every stutter is a low-FPS problem or confirm a current, universal stuttering bug. Treat the two symptoms separately when you describe them.
Connection error
The game launches, but it cannot connect to online services, disconnects during play, or reports unusually slow connectivity. Motorfest requires internet access: Ubisoft’s Store page states, Permanent internet connection required to play.
That makes connectivity a basic requirement rather than an optional multiplayer enhancement.
Use Ubisoft’s official route for connection errors
Ubisoft’s article, “Troubleshooting connectivity issues in The Crew Motorfest”, covers difficulty connecting to online services, including slow connection speed. It directs players to complete Ubisoft’s connectivity troubleshooting guide. If the problem remains after those steps, Ubisoft says to contact support for further connectivity troubleshooting.
- Open the current connectivity article. Use the link above rather than relying on an old forum checklist. Support pages can change, and the live guide may contain platform-specific instructions that are not reproduced here.
- Follow the guide for your platform. Apply the steps Ubisoft currently lists, in the order appropriate to your console or PC. Do not substitute a random router, DNS, port-forwarding, or account procedure and present it as an official Motorfest requirement.
- Capture the exact failure. Write down the error message or code, the time it appeared, whether other online features worked, and whether the failure occurred at launch, while joining an activity, or after playing for a while.
- Escalate when the guide does not resolve it. Ubisoft’s stated next step is contacting support for additional connectivity troubleshooting. Include your platform, game edition or storefront, region, connection symptom, error text, and the steps you already completed.
A connection problem can prevent the game from starting an online session even when the installation itself is healthy. Conversely, a crash that occurs before any online-service message should be reported as a technical or stability issue, not described only as a network failure.
Handle crashes through the technical troubleshooting path
Ubisoft’s PC support listing includes a technical troubleshooting entry updated September 11, 2023. Its summary directs players with problems running Motorfest, including low FPS or crashes, to the general troubleshooting guide. Start there for a PC launch crash or an in-game crash instead of using the connectivity article.
Check the BattlEye requirement on PC
The Store listing says BattlEye is automatically installed and required to play. It also says Motorfest cannot launch if BattlEye has been uninstalled. Therefore, a launch failure accompanied by a BattlEye message should be recorded as such and handled through Ubisoft’s current PC support instructions. Do not assume that reinstalling unrelated game files addresses an anti-cheat requirement.

- Before the menu: note whether the launcher opens, whether an anti-cheat message appears, and whether the process closes without an error.
- During loading: record the exact screen or activity where the crash occurs and whether it is reproducible.
- During gameplay: note approximate play time, graphics settings, connected peripherals, and whether the crash follows a recent driver, operating-system, game, or hardware change.
- Only one profile or account: tell support whether another local profile or account shows the same behavior, but do not claim that this test proves the cause.
These distinctions are diagnostic details, not guaranteed remedies. The available Ubisoft material does not identify one confirmed cause that explains all Motorfest crashes.

Use the bug-reporting option when the issue appears to be a game defect
The PC support listing also indicates that Motorfest has a dedicated bug reporting tool. Use it for a repeatable crash, reproducible visual defect, or persistent stutter that survives the applicable technical guidance. Include a short reproduction sequence, frequency, platform, version information shown by your launcher or console, and any error code. A precise report helps Ubisoft distinguish a one-off local failure from a defect that other players may be able to reproduce.
Compare your PC with Ubisoft’s published performance tiers
Ubisoft’s Store page lists four PC tiers. They are baselines with stated resolution, frame-rate, and graphics-preset targets—not a guarantee that every system will deliver identical results. The specifications below are the values shown on the listing accessed in 2026; check the current Store page before making a hardware decision because requirements can change by version or storefront.
| Tier | Operating system and processor | Graphics card | Memory and storage | Ubisoft’s stated target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Windows 10 64-bit; AMD Ryzen 5 1400 at 3.2 GHz or Intel Core i5-4460 at 3.2 GHz | Radeon RX 480 (8 GB) or GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) or better | 8 GB dual-channel RAM; 40 GB storage, SSD recommended | 1920×1080, 30 FPS, Low preset |
| Recommended | Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB) or Radeon RX 5700 XT (8 GB) | 8 GB dual-channel RAM; 40 GB storage, SSD recommended | 1920×1080, 60 FPS, High preset |
| High | Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB) or Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB) | 16 GB dual-channel RAM; 40 GB storage, SSD recommended | 2560×1440, 60 FPS, High preset |
| Ultra | Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X | GeForce RTX 3090 (24 GB) or Radeon RX 7900 XT (20 GB) | 16 GB dual-channel RAM; 40 GB storage, SSD recommended | 3840×2160, 60 FPS, Ultra preset |
All four rows come from the Ubisoft Store listing. The minimum row is a compatibility floor aimed at 1080p and 30 FPS on Low; it is not a promise of 60 FPS. A computer below that row is outside Ubisoft’s stated baseline, while a computer above it can still stutter or crash for reasons unrelated to raw performance.
How to use the table for a stutter investigation
- Write down your processor model, graphics card and VRAM, installed RAM, Windows edition, and free storage.
- Match the machine to the closest Ubisoft tier. If one component is substantially below the tier, record that mismatch rather than describing the system simply as “good enough.”
- Record the resolution, graphics preset, and frame-rate behavior when the hitch occurs. State whether the issue is constant, limited to crowded scenes, or tied to loading.
- Use the comparison as context for support. It narrows the case but does not prove that the weakest component caused the problem.
Console and peripheral checks
Ubisoft lists Motorfest for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC, and Steam, with a September 14, 2023 release date. Console players should identify the exact console generation in a support request because “PlayStation” or “Xbox” alone does not distinguish the hardware or storefront.
Ubisoft’s PC support listing includes a supported-peripherals entry updated October 8, 2026. Consult that official entry if a controller, wheel, headset, or other input device is involved. The available support summary does not connect any particular peripheral to Motorfest crashes, stutter, or connection errors, so avoid naming a device as the cause without a repeatable comparison.
Read the PC requirements without overpromising
The four rows describe different goals, not four levels of guaranteed smoothness. Minimum is explicitly 1080p at 30 FPS on Low. Recommended raises the target to 1080p at 60 FPS on High, while High and Ultra change both resolution and memory expectations. A machine that meets the Recommended processor but has a graphics card closer to the Minimum row is not a full Recommended match. Report each component separately.
The listing calls for 40 GB of storage and recommends an SSD in every tier. That is a capacity and storage-medium specification, not proof that replacing a drive will cure a crash or hitch. If the game is installed on another type of drive, note it for support, but do not present an SSD purchase as an official remedy. Likewise, 8 GB of dual-channel RAM is listed for Minimum and Recommended, while High and Ultra list 16 GB. These numbers help explain a performance report; they do not establish a single component as the cause.
Resolution matters when comparing reports. A player testing 3840×2160 on Ultra is pursuing a different target from one using 1920×1080 on Low. Include render resolution, display resolution if different, preset, and any resolution scaling shown in the game. If the frame rate is stable until a particular activity or loading transition, describe that pattern instead of reporting only an average.

Distinguish a network symptom from a game crash
Motorfest is an online-required title. A failure to reach online services, a slow connection warning, and a disconnection after entering an activity belong in the connectivity workflow. A process that closes to the desktop, freezes, or displays a crash dialog belongs in the technical workflow even if it happened while the game was attempting to connect.
Ask three simple questions when the symptoms overlap: Did the game reach the main menu? Did an online-service message appear before the failure? Can another online feature on the same platform work at that time? The answers do not diagnose the cause, but they give support a clearer timeline. Record whether the problem affects every online activity or only one, and whether offline-looking menus remain usable before the disconnect.
Do not infer a server outage from one failed attempt, and do not infer damaged files from one connection error. Ubisoft’s connectivity article is the authority for the current troubleshooting sequence. If its steps do not resolve the issue, Ubisoft specifically directs players to contact support for more connectivity troubleshooting.

Keep a controlled test record
Changing several settings, drivers, peripherals, or network variables at once makes a report harder to interpret. For a reproducible issue, keep the activity, graphics preset, resolution, account, and connected devices the same while you repeat the scenario. Write down the result of each test and the time it was performed.
A useful record includes the first date noticed, the last date tested, number of successful and failed attempts, and the exact point of failure. Note whether the issue appeared after a Motorfest update, an operating-system update, a graphics-driver change, a new peripheral, or an account change. If nothing changed before the issue began, say that explicitly. Screenshots and short video can show a code or visible hitch, but a written error message should accompany them.
A repeatable triage workflow
Use this workflow to keep separate issues from being mixed together and to produce a support-ready record.
- Identify the environment. Record platform, console model or PC hardware, operating-system version, storefront, game edition, display resolution, and connected peripherals.
- Describe one symptom. Choose launch crash, in-game crash, low FPS, stuttering, online-service connection failure, or slow connection. If two occur, document them as separate incidents.
- Capture the evidence. Copy the exact error text or code, note the date and time, and record how often it happens. A short video or screenshot can show a visible message or hitch, but do not omit the written code.
- Mark the timing. State whether the problem began after a Motorfest update, operating-system change, graphics-driver change, peripheral change, or account change. If there was no known change, say that explicitly.
- Check the applicable Ubisoft path. Use the connectivity guide for online-service failures; use the general technical guide for PC crashes and low FPS; use the supported-peripherals entry when input hardware is central.
- Repeat the same scenario. If a crash or stutter can be reproduced, use the same activity and settings and count how many attempts fail. Do not change several variables at once, because that removes useful evidence.
- Escalate with a complete timeline. List the official steps you completed and the result of each one. This prevents support from repeating checks you have already performed.
Common assumptions that can mislead troubleshooting
- “Every stutter is a confirmed game bug.” Ubisoft’s published summary mentions low FPS and crashes, but does not establish a universal stuttering defect or a single fix.
- “Meeting minimum specs guarantees smooth play.” The minimum tier targets 1080p at 30 FPS on Low. It is not the same target as the Recommended, High, or Ultra rows.
- “A connection error means the installation is damaged.” Motorfest requires a permanent internet connection, so online-service availability and local game stability must be investigated as separate symptoms.
- “A BattlEye message is just another crash.” Ubisoft specifically says the game will not launch if BattlEye has been uninstalled. Record that message and follow the current PC support route.
- “A community workaround is an official solution.” Ubisoft’s retrieved support summaries do not rank third-party router changes, DNS settings, port rules, replacement hardware, or repair utilities as universal remedies. Treat such suggestions as unverified unless Ubisoft’s live guide explicitly recommends them.

When the evidence points beyond a simple setting
If the computer falls below Ubisoft’s minimum tier, performance problems are outside the published baseline and should be reported with that limitation stated. If the system meets or exceeds the relevant tier yet crashes at a reproducible point, report the exact sequence rather than assuming more powerful hardware will solve it. If the only failure is online-service access, follow the connectivity route even when the game’s graphics performance is normal. Keeping those cases separate gives support the information needed to investigate the correct subsystem.
