Turn HairWorks off in the game’s graphics settings, then replay the same scene and compare. Test resolution and scaling
Reducing output resolution lowers the number of pixels the hardware must render. CD PROJEKT RED illustrates the difference with 5120 × 2880 (14,745,600 pixels) versus 2560 × 1440 (3,686,400 pixels): the higher resolution has four times as many pixels, but the publisher cautions that performance will not necessarily be exactly four times lower. Treat this as an explanation of rendering workload, not a predicted FPS change.
If your build offers resolution scaling or upscaling, test it as well. The publisher explains that scaling renders at a lower resolution and enlarges the image to help balance performance and image quality. Compare your PC with the current requirements
Check your hardware against the publisher’s current PC requirements for the version you are playing. CD PROJEKT RED says its FPS targets are based on QA tests and can vary with scene, gameplay, hardware, settings, and output resolution.

Check ray tracing and other version-specific options
The 2022 next-gen Complete Edition announcement listed real-time ray tracing and DLSS on PC. These features can involve performance tradeoffs, but that announcement does not establish a universal settings recipe or a guaranteed FPS gain. Confirm which options your installed build actually offers and consult the current requirements and support guidance rather than assuming that older DirectX 11-versus-DirectX 12 reports apply to Remastered.
Consider a rollback only if your storefront allows it
If the current version remains unusable for your setup, CD PROJEKT RED documents a Classic-branch option for Steam and GOG players. The Epic Games Store provides only the latest version. The Remastered FAQ links to version-specific rollback instructions; consult it before changing branches.
