If a PlayStation Store download is slow, queued, or stuck, first check PlayStation Network status, then restart the download item and check available storage. If those quick checks do not help, test the console’s connection, update system software, and use only the Safe Mode option listed for your console model. The steps below follow PlayStation Support’s guidance for PS5 and PS4; menu labels may change.
Start with PlayStation Network status
Check the PlayStation Network service status before changing settings. If the relevant service shows an alert, wait for service to be restored and try the download again. Status is live and can change, so an alert should not be assumed without checking the page.

If the download will not start, pause and resume it
PlayStation Support recommends restarting the individual queue item first. The path differs by console:

If it still will not start, cancel and delete the stalled download entry, then find the game in your Library and retry the download. This removes the download item, not your saved games; do not initialize the console as an early troubleshooting step. See PlayStation’s download troubleshooting guide for the current instructions.

Check that the console has enough free storage
A download can fail or stop when the console does not have enough space. Check the game’s stated requirement and compare it with free console storage before retrying.

On PS4, error CE-37704-1 specifically means a download was canceled because there was not enough HDD space, according to Sony’s error-code guidance. Free enough space before restarting a large download.

Test the connection and investigate Wi-Fi only if needed
Run the console’s internet connection test to distinguish a local connection problem from a queue or storage issue:
- PS5: Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection.
- PS4: Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection.
If Wi-Fi seems unstable, an Ethernet connection can be a useful optional test if you already have access to one. PlayStation suggests trying a wired connection where possible in its game launch troubleshooting guidance. It is not required, does not resolve a PlayStation service outage, and does not guarantee a faster Store download.

For PS5 error CE-107928-7, Sony specifically advises checking network settings and resetting them if necessary, then turning off the modem and/or router, waiting five minutes, and turning it back on. That advice is attached to this error’s troubleshooting steps, not a guaranteed fix for every slow download. See Sony’s CE-107928-7 page.
Update system software, then retry
Check that the console’s system software is current. PlayStation’s game and system update troubleshooting guidance also recommends testing the internet connection, restarting the console, and checking for system software updates. If the issue continues, deleting and reinstalling the game or using database recovery may be appropriate, but try the status, queue, storage, and connection checks first because they are less disruptive.

Use the correct Safe Mode recovery option
If simpler checks do not resolve a stuck download, PlayStation’s download guide directs users to Safe Mode. The available database option differs by console:

Follow PlayStation’s current Safe Mode instructions for your model and select the option named for that console; do not substitute one model’s menu item for the other.

Use the error code to choose the next step
If the console displays a code, use its model-specific PlayStation Support page rather than applying one generic fix to every download failure.
PS5 error CE-107928-7
This code means an error stopped the game download. Sony’s steps include deleting and retrying the download, testing the connection, checking or resetting network settings, and power-cycling the modem and/or router with a five-minute wait. The exact steps are on the CE-107928-7 support page.
PS4 error CE-36244-9
This code indicates the download was suspended and the downloaded content is likely corrupted. Sony advises restarting the PS4 and the download; if the problem returns, review local network settings, try another network if available, or wait if the connection is temporarily busy. The support page also describes storage and system-initialization steps for persistent cases. Treat initialization as a late-stage, code-specific measure, not a routine fix. When to contact PlayStation Support
If the download remains stuck after the steps for your console and error code, contact PlayStation Support with the exact code, console model, and the point in the process where the download stops. The cited PlayStation guidance does not identify an individual internet provider, local wireless interference, or a current service condition as the cause of a specific reader’s problem.
