If FFmpeg reads a local concat file, inspect the exact file named in its command for a duplicate file entry. If the duplicate appears only in a YouTube playlist, remove the extra entry there. A stream key connects FFmpeg to YouTube; it does not determine which podcast episodes FFmpeg plays.
Find where the repetition starts
There are separate places where a duplicate can originate: the local FFmpeg concat script, a YouTube-hosted playlist, or a loop or restart setting in the full command or a separate process. Check the layer that matches what you see before changing settings elsewhere.

- The same episode appears twice during one pass: inspect the local concat file FFmpeg actually opens.
- The duplicate appears while browsing the YouTube playlist: edit the playlist in YouTube.
- The whole sequence starts over after it finishes: inspect the complete FFmpeg command and any process that restarts it. A repeated full pass is different from an episode listed twice.
For a local list, identify the path after the command’s input option and check that file, not another playlist with a similar name. Without the command and list contents, the precise cause cannot be determined from the symptom alone.

The concat demuxer reads its listed media paths in order. An accidental repeated directive can therefore play the same episode twice. For example:

- Compare every
fileline against the intended episode order. Remove an extra entry for any episode that should appear only once. - Check spelling and paths, particularly when episodes have similar filenames or are in different directories.
- Save the file and run the same command again. Confirm that the sequence contains each intended episode once.
For automatic ffconcat format recognition, the first line must be exactly ffconcat version 1.0; no blank line, extra space, or byte-order mark should come before it. The header can be omitted if the format is selected explicitly. Paths containing spaces or special characters must be quoted or escaped correctly. See the FFmpeg concat demuxer documentation.
Distinguish a duplicate entry from a timing artifact
A repeated line in the script is evidence of a repeated entry. A glitch at a boundary, a sudden timestamp change, or an episode that seems to start at the wrong time may instead involve media compatibility or duration information; those symptoms alone do not prove an episode was added twice.

FFmpeg’s concat demuxer requires input files to have matching streams, codecs, and time bases. It uses each file’s duration to set timestamps for the next file, so inaccurate duration information can cause artifacts. A duration directive can override a stored duration. FFmpeg states: “All files must have the same streams (same codecs, same time base, etc.).” Read the concat demuxer documentation before changing duration values or assuming a timing problem is a duplicate.
If the files do not meet the demuxer’s compatibility requirements, prepare compatible inputs or use the concat filter and re-encode. FFmpeg’s concatenating video files FAQ distinguishes the concat filter for cases where re-encoding is needed from the concat demuxer, which can avoid re-encoding when its requirements are met. The concat protocol is another, separate method; its applicability depends on container support.

Remove an extra entry from a YouTube playlist
If the duplicate is in the playlist hosted on YouTube rather than the local FFmpeg input, edit that playlist in YouTube: remove the unwanted video entry and check the resulting order. YouTube’s playlist editing instructions cover removing items and reordering entries. This changes the YouTube playlist, not the local concat script.

When FFmpeg sends the feed to YouTube, the encoder connection uses the stream URL and key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain that workflow. The key identifies the stream destination; it does not select the local podcast files. If the connection is failing, check the URL and key separately from the episode order.
