If Ray-Ban Meta glasses will not pair, disappear from the Meta AI app, or stop playing phone audio, work from least destructive to most destructive: charge and power on the glasses, keep the phone close, verify Bluetooth, remove stale pairings, pair again in the app, restart or force-restart the glasses, and use a factory reset only after protecting any captures. The app connection and the phone’s Bluetooth-audio connection are separate, so identify which one is failing before you reset anything.
First identify which connection is failing
Ray-Ban Meta glasses use two related connections that are easy to confuse:

The glasses can still capture photos and videos and can play audio from a phone over Bluetooth even when they are not connected to the Meta AI app. Therefore, an app setup failure does not automatically mean Bluetooth audio is impossible. Check the phone’s Bluetooth device list and audio output selector before assuming the hardware has failed.
Use this low-risk troubleshooting order
- Check power and charging. Put the glasses in their charging case, allow them to charge, and confirm they switch on. A nearly empty battery can make discovery and audio unreliable.
- Reduce distance and interference. Keep the phone close to the glasses, preferably in front of you or in a front pocket. Temporarily turn off Wi-Fi and disconnect other Bluetooth accessories while testing. These are official troubleshooting suggestions, not proof that distance or interference is the cause.
- Refresh the phone’s Bluetooth radio. Turn Bluetooth off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on. Leave the phone unlocked during discovery.
- Remove stale records. If the glasses are listed in the phone’s Bluetooth settings, use the phone’s Forget, Remove or Unpair command. If the Meta AI app considers them already set up, use its unpair or remove-device flow as well. Labels vary by phone operating system, app version and region.
- Pair from the Meta AI app. Do not start by repeatedly tapping an old entry in the phone’s Bluetooth list. Open the current Meta AI app, sign in when prompted, and follow its add-device process.
- Restart the glasses. Switch them off and on normally before trying more invasive actions.
- Force-restart if necessary. This is still reversible and, according to Ray-Ban, does not delete captures or require pairing again.
- Factory-reset only after backing up or deciding that captures can be deleted. A factory reset removes captures stored on the glasses and the Meta account association, then requires setup again.
- Escalate to Ray-Ban support or a warranty claim if the sequence does not restore the connection. Do not infer a specific internal hardware fault from pairing symptoms alone.
Prepare the phone and glasses before pairing
Charge and switch on the glasses
Place the glasses in the charging case and verify that they are receiving power. Remove them, switch them on, and keep the arms folded when using the frame-button pairing procedure. The phone should be nearby, unlocked and running the current Meta AI app. Enable Bluetooth before opening setup.

Use a clean radio environment
For a controlled retry, move the phone close to the glasses and keep it in front of the wearer or in a front pocket. Disconnect headphones, watches, vehicle systems and other nearby Bluetooth devices temporarily. Ray-Ban also suggests trying with phone Wi-Fi switched off. Re-enable Wi-Fi and reconnect other accessories after the test; the temporary change is a diagnostic step, not a permanent requirement.
Do not assume the app and Bluetooth list are interchangeable
Initial setup is performed in Meta AI with Bluetooth enabled. The phone’s system Bluetooth page can retain an obsolete record even after the app appears to have removed the device. Conversely, the glasses may be usable for Bluetooth audio while the app is signed out or disconnected. Clear the specific link that is failing rather than repeatedly resetting both.
Clear a stale pairing safely
Remove the phone record
Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings, locate the glasses, and choose the operating system’s Forget, Remove or Unpair action. The exact wording and location differ between Android and iPhone versions, so use the control your phone provides rather than looking for one universal menu path. If no glasses entry exists, continue without creating a manual entry.
Remove the device in Meta AI when it is still registered
Open Meta AI and use its device-management or unpair flow if the glasses are shown as already set up. App labels can change between releases and regions. Finish the removal, close the app, and reopen it before starting setup again.

Retry only after both records are cleared
With phone Bluetooth enabled, keep the glasses close and start the add-device process in Meta AI. Clearing only one side can leave the other side attempting to resume an obsolete pairing key, which is why a fresh app setup is preferable to tapping an old system entry.
Pair the glasses in Meta AI
Frame-button method documented by Ray-Ban’s US FAQ
- Install Meta AI and sign in with a Meta account if the app requests it.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone.
- Power on the glasses.
- Fold both arms of the glasses.
- Press and hold the capture button for 12 seconds. The LED inside the frames should flash blue, indicating pairing mode.
- In Meta AI, choose the glasses when they appear and follow every setup prompt.
Ray-Ban says the glasses can take up to about 10 seconds to appear in the app. Keep the phone close during that interval instead of repeatedly starting new searches.
Case-button method for manual pairing mode
Ray-Ban also documents a regional procedure that uses the charging case: put the glasses in the case, then press and hold the button on the back of the case for at least five seconds until the case LED flashes blue. Regional support pages describe this method, but button behavior can differ by generation. If your LED does not respond as described, stop and follow the current instructions shown by Meta AI or the official page for your model. Do not combine the case-button sequence with the frame-button sequence or assume they are interchangeable.

What to do when the glasses never appear
- Confirm the glasses are switched on and charged.
- Move the phone within easy reach of the frames and keep it in front of you.
- Turn phone Bluetooth off and on again.
- Temporarily turn off Wi-Fi and disconnect other Bluetooth devices.
- Repeat the stale-record removal on both the phone and Meta AI.
- Enter pairing mode again and wait the full 10 seconds for discovery.
If the LED color or timing differs from these instructions, treat the model-specific instructions in the current app as authoritative rather than forcing a sequence intended for another generation.

Restore Bluetooth audio after setup
When the app is connected but audio is silent
Check the phone’s audio output control and select the glasses as the playback device. Start with a short song or system sound, then make a test call. If the glasses appear in the phone’s Bluetooth list but are not selected for media or calls, disconnect and reconnect that Bluetooth link without removing the app device first.
When audio works but the app is offline
This is possible and does not necessarily indicate a fault. The glasses can listen to phone audio over Bluetooth while not connected to Meta AI. You may lose app-based management and setup functions, but the audio link can remain active. Reconnect the app later by opening Meta AI and completing its device-connection prompts.
When audio cuts in and out
- Keep the phone close and preferably in front of the wearer or in a front pocket.
- Move away from other Bluetooth accessories and test with Wi-Fi temporarily off.
- Confirm the phone has not switched output to a car system, earbuds or its own speaker.
- Toggle Bluetooth off and on, then retry playback.
- If the problem began after a failed setup, forget the old phone record and pair again from Meta AI.
These steps address a connection symptom. They do not establish that a particular radio source is the cause, and they should not be used to diagnose an internal component.

Normal restart
Switch the glasses off, wait briefly, and switch them back on. Ray-Ban says a normal restart should not delete media stored on the glasses or unpair them. Allow a few minutes for the phone and app to reconnect before repeating setup.

Force restart
- Switch the glasses off.
- Press and hold the capture button.
- While continuing to hold the capture button, switch the glasses on.
- Release the capture button when the status LED turns red.
- Wait a few minutes, then check Meta AI and the phone’s Bluetooth audio output.
Ray-Ban states that this force restart does not delete captures and does not require app re-pairing. If the glasses still do not reconnect, remove the old pairing from both Meta AI and the phone, then run setup again.

What a factory reset erases
A factory reset deletes captures stored on the glasses and removes their Meta account association. You must pair and set them up again afterward. If any locally stored photos or videos are still needed, transfer or save them before resetting.
Why the instructions can look different
Ray-Ban’s official pages describe more than one reset flow. The US FAQ presents a method involving holding the power switch and capture button until the LED turns orange. Other regional FAQ sections describe closing the right arm, pressing the capture button five times, and then holding it. These procedures should not be combined, and one should not be presented as universal for every generation.

Open the current Meta AI instructions or the official Ray-Ban support page for the glasses’ generation and region, verify the LED behavior, and follow that single sequence exactly. If the controls or LED colors do not match, stop rather than experimenting with additional button combinations. After the reset completes, remove any remaining phone Bluetooth record, reopen Meta AI, and perform initial setup as a new device.

Troubleshoot by symptom
“My glasses aren’t pairing with the app”
- Charge and switch on the glasses.
- Enable phone Bluetooth and keep the phone close.
- Remove the glasses from phone Bluetooth and unpair them in Meta AI if they are already listed.
- Enter pairing mode using the model-appropriate frame or case procedure.
- Wait up to about 10 seconds for discovery and finish setup in Meta AI.
- Restart, then force-restart, before considering a factory reset.
The phone says there is a Bluetooth connection error
Forget the glasses in the phone’s Bluetooth settings, toggle Bluetooth, disconnect competing accessories, and retry setup from Meta AI. Keep Wi-Fi off for the controlled retry if necessary. If the app still shows an old device, use its unpair flow first.
The glasses are paired but no music or call audio comes through
Verify that the phone’s Bluetooth audio output is set to the glasses, not merely that the glasses appear as a saved device. Test a short media clip, then a call. If output remains unavailable, remove the phone record and pair again; an app-only reconnect may not repair a broken audio link.
The app is disconnected but audio still works
This is an expected distinction between the two links. Continue using the Bluetooth audio connection if it is stable, and reconnect Meta AI separately when you need management or setup functions.

Repeat the test with the phone close and in front of you, Wi-Fi temporarily off, and other Bluetooth devices disconnected. A change in result identifies an environmental difference but does not prove which radio source caused it.
When to stop troubleshooting and contact support
If charging, proximity, Bluetooth refresh, stale-record removal, app pairing, restart and force restart do not resolve the failure, use Ray-Ban’s support and warranty channels. Eligibility for a warranty claim depends on the owner’s circumstances and applicable terms, so support may request model, purchase and troubleshooting details. Do not promise a repair or replacement, and do not attempt an unsupported hardware diagnosis. A persistent failure after a correctly performed factory reset is a reason to escalate, not a reason to keep repeating reset combinations.
