Wait for the product price to be rendered—not merely for navigation to finish—and verify that its element contains meaningful text before taking the screenshot. If that check fails, inspect whether the element is missing, empty, hidden, inside an iframe, or waiting on a particular API response. Without the page URL and selector, no single cause can be confirmed.
Check what Puppeteer actually rendered
After the page loads, inspect the price in the live DOM before adding delays. A selector that matches nothing points to a selector or frame-context problem; a matching element with empty text points toward rendering or data readiness. If text exists but the screenshot looks blank, check whether the element is visible and has a usable bounding box.

A null result means the selector did not match in the main page; an empty text means it matched but has not produced text. Visibility checks are diagnostic: site-specific CSS, overlays, or styling can affect what appears in the screenshot.

Wait for the price state, then capture
A successful page.goto() does not prove that a client-rendered price is ready. Prefer a condition tied to the price element and its text over an arbitrary sleep. Puppeteer supports locators and function-based waits for this kind of readiness check. [Puppeteer page interactions] [Puppeteer Page.waitForFunction API]
This example waits for a non-empty price and checks the text again before capture. It is a pattern to adapt, not a reproduction for a particular store:

To keep a stalled page from holding the script indefinitely, set a suitable timeout in your own run and handle a timeout as a diagnostic result rather than treating it as proof that the price does not exist.

Puppeteer’s screenshot guide demonstrates navigation with waitUntil: 'networkidle2' before Page.screenshot(). Chrome for Developers describes a networkidle0 example as waiting for no requests for 500 ms, while also noting that lazy-loaded content can need additional waiting and demonstrating a selector check. If a known request controls the price
Wait for that request’s response, check its status, and then wait for the price text in the DOM. A response can arrive before the application has updated the page, so do not take the screenshot on the response alone. If the price is in an iframe
A page-level selector searches the main frame, not every frame. Identify the frame containing the price, wait for it to load as needed, and run the selector and text condition against that frame. If the selector is absent from the main DOM, an iframe is one possibility; inspect the page’s frames rather than repeatedly extending the main-page wait. [Puppeteer waiting guide, September 16, 2026]

Capture only after validation
Once the price is present and meaningful, use page.screenshot() for the page. For a focused image, Puppeteer also documents ElementHandle.screenshot(); it attempts to scroll the element into view if it is hidden. [Puppeteer screenshot guide]

Troubleshoot a price that remains blank
- The selector finds nothing: Confirm the selector against the rendered page and check whether the price is in an iframe. A selector mismatch and a frame mismatch both make a page-level query miss the element.
- The element exists but text is empty: Wait for the price-specific text condition. If you know the API request that supplies it, wait for that response first, then check the DOM again.
- The text exists but the screenshot appears blank: Inspect visibility and the element’s bounding box; confirm that the screenshot is taken after the validation check and that you are capturing the intended page or element.
- A network-idle wait completes but the price is still empty: Treat network idle as a supporting signal only. Use a selector or text condition tied to the price.
- A fixed sleep works inconsistently: Replace it with a state-based wait. A delay can expire before a slow price request or waste time when the page is already ready.
- The wait times out: Recheck the selector, frame, whether the page’s price request succeeded, and whether the site renders a price for the current session or product. A timeout means the awaited condition was not met within the configured period; it does not identify which cause applies.
There is no documented prevalence figure for blank-price Puppeteer screenshots, and no specific store or failure has been established here. Treat these checks as a diagnostic path, not a claim that one cause explains every case.
