If your Samsung Galaxy S26 FE is hot or losing charge quickly, first stop charging or the activity that is heating it and let the phone cool. Then check for a workload or charging problem, reduce unnecessary background use, and run Samsung Members diagnostics. Samsung’s guidance applies to Galaxy devices generally; it does not establish that the S26 FE has a known defect or that any one step will cure the problem.
First, cool the phone safely
If the phone feels hot while charging, unplug it, close running apps, and wait until it cools before charging again. If the heat is severe, stop using the phone and let it cool. Avoid prolonged direct contact between a warm phone and your skin; Samsung cautions against placing the phone or connected charging accessories on your body while charging.

Check the charging setup
- Inspect the cable and charging port for damage or contamination. Samsung recommends replacing a frayed cable with a genuine Samsung accessory.
- If you use wireless charging, remove metal, magnets, cards, and other foreign objects from between the phone and charging pad.
- Do not keep using damaged charging equipment. If replacing an accessory, verify that it is compatible with the S26 FE; the available guidance does not specify a required charger model or wattage.
Samsung says it is normal for a Galaxy phone to generate some heat during high-power tasks such as fast charging, gaming, or streaming. Warmth during demanding use is not by itself proof of a fault.

Consider what the phone was doing when the problem started. Samsung lists high-power activity, environmental conditions, and charging hardware among possible contributors. Pause the activity and see whether the phone cools.

- Heavy or sustained use: initial setup or data restoration, large downloads, system updates, gaming, high-resolution video recording, GPS navigation, streaming at high brightness, hotspot use, or multitasking.
- Conditions that make use more demanding: direct sunlight, such as in a car, weak cellular reception, or extended roaming.
- Charging equipment: a damaged or contaminated cable or port, or foreign objects on a wireless charging pad.
These are possible contributors, not a diagnosis of the S26 FE. If the phone heats up during ordinary use without an obvious trigger, continue with the checks below.
Reduce battery use after the phone cools
- Install available updates and restart. Check the phone’s software-update screen for an update available to your device and carrier, then restart once the phone has cooled.
- Review battery activity. Open Settings > Device care and look for apps with high battery consumption or background activity. Close apps you are not using.
- Reduce display and connectivity use. Lower screen brightness. Turn off Wi-Fi, Location, or Bluetooth when you do not need them and when doing so fits your use.
- Try Samsung’s additional power-saving options. Device care optimization, Power saving, and putting unused apps to sleep are among Samsung’s suggested steps. Power saving can limit network use, data syncing, and background location activity.
Samsung also describes Light mode as an option that reduces processor speed, heat generation, and power consumption. If Light mode is available in your S26 FE settings, you can try it; its availability and menu path can vary by model and software version, and it is not a guaranteed fix.

Check battery health and know when to seek service
Open the Samsung Members app and run Phone Diagnostics to check battery status. Menu names and paths can differ by model and software version. If diagnostics indicate a battery problem, or rapid drain or unusual heat continues despite the basic checks, contact Samsung support or an authorized service center. The available guidance does not establish a safe do-it-yourself battery replacement procedure for this model.
What the S26 FE update record says
Verizon’s update history lists releases for the Galaxy S26 FE on September 4, September 17, and October 2, 2026. Its October 2 entry identifies version CP2A.260605.016.S741USQS2AZI5 and October 2026 Android security patches; Verizon describes that release as providing current security patches, not as fixing overheating or battery drain. The September 4 entry includes performance improvements and security patches, but does not establish a remedy for these symptoms.

Update availability can depend on carrier rollout. Check the handset’s own software-update screen and your carrier’s support information rather than assuming a listed release is available or addresses the problem.
