Find where the podcast audio disappears before changing your Airtel connection: check whether the OBS audio meter stops, whether OBS reports network-dropped frames, and whether YouTube’s live preview or stream-health indicators show a problem. A stopped source meter points first to the audio device or routing; an active meter with missing audio on YouTube calls for checking OBS output and YouTube ingest. OBS network drops indicate a connection or bitrate problem, not proof that Airtel is at fault or that audio capture has failed.
Locate where the audio drops
Use the same short, representative podcast segment to compare the signal at each point in the chain. Play it locally, watch the OBS Audio Mixer meter, make a local recording, and compare that recording with YouTube’s live preview and health information. Note the time of any dropout so you can compare it with OBS’s network status and logs.

- The OBS meter goes quiet: investigate the playback device, selected input, gain, application or operating-system volume, and source routing before troubleshooting broadband.
- The OBS meter stays active but the local recording is silent or interrupted: inspect OBS’s mix and output configuration, then confirm the recording has the same problem.
- The meter and local recording are fine, but YouTube is silent or interrupted: check OBS’s connection status and YouTube’s live preview and stream-health indications.
- OBS reports dropped frames: investigate connection stability and whether your configured bitrate can be sustained. That status alone does not establish why podcast audio is missing.
OBS explains that dropped frames mean “your connection to remote server isn’t stable or you can’t keep up with your set bitrate.” That describes the streaming connection; it does not, by itself, diagnose an audio capture fault. OBS Stream Connection Troubleshooting
Check the podcast signal and OBS audio routing
Check the source and levels
- Play the podcast source and watch its meter in the OBS Audio Mixer. Confirm the meter moves during the part that is missing from the stream.
- Listen at the playback device or other audio equipment as early in the signal path as possible. Check physical gain on a microphone, interface, mixer, or playback device, as applicable, along with operating-system and application volume controls.
- Use OBS Audio Monitoring to listen to the signal after it reaches OBS. Compare what you hear there with the source and the local recording. This helps separate a source/device issue from a later streaming issue. See the OBS Audio Mixer Guide.
- Record a representative segment in OBS and listen to it before going live. If the recording also drops out, the fault is present before or in OBS’s recorded mix; broadband is not yet the leading explanation.
Confirm the selected source and avoid duplicate capture
Make sure the intended audio input is selected and active in the scene or in OBS’s global audio setup. The exact device path varies by operating system. If you add an Audio Input Capture or Audio Output Capture source to a scene while the same device is also selected under Settings → Audio, OBS warns that the duplicated route can cause echo. Disable one route if you are using a scene-level capture source. Consult OBS Audio Sources for source types and routing guidance.

Investigate OBS network drops and Airtel broadband
Use OBS status and logs at the dropout time
Check OBS’s network status during a representative stream and inspect the log for the same time window as the interruption. If OBS reports dropped frames, treat that as evidence of an unstable connection to the remote server or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain—not as proof of an Airtel outage or an audio-device failure.
Test with a more stable connection and a sustainable bitrate
- If you are on Wi-Fi, test the stream with a wired Ethernet connection. OBS recommends wired networking because Wi-Fi can be unstable; a wired test can help identify Wi-Fi-related instability, but it is not a guaranteed fix for missing audio.
- Lower the video bitrate and test again. OBS’s guide gives 75% of total upload as a starting point, not a guaranteed setting. Shared household use, connection variation, and the route to the streaming server can affect what a connection sustains.
- Check the router, modem, and other network hardware. A speed test or advertised plan speed alone does not show that the connection will stay stable to a live ingest server.
- Repeat the test with representative podcast audio and video, then compare OBS’s meter and network status with the local recording and YouTube preview.
These are troubleshooting steps, not a promise that a lower bitrate or new cable will restore audio. OBS’s guidance is at Stream Connection Troubleshooting.

Check YouTube’s ingest and live health
YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate, testing with representative audio and movement before an event, and monitoring stream health while live. It also recommends RTMPS for YouTube Live. Compare YouTube’s live preview and health indications with the OBS meter and local recording to establish whether the signal is lost before OBS sends it or later in the stream path. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance when reviewing encoder configuration; do not infer a particular Airtel-specific audio setting from a general encoder recommendation.
When to contact Airtel
Escalate to Airtel only when you have evidence of a persistent network problem—for example, OBS network drops continue during a wired test at a conservative bitrate. Share the relevant time, OBS log, upload test results, and YouTube stream-health state. OBS notes that ISP-side changes or route congestion can be outside a streamer’s control. No Airtel-specific defect, plan limitation, outage, or special setting is established here, so avoid treating the provider name alone as the diagnosis.
