If sound disappears when a new song starts, first find out whether the silence is in your headphones, in the streaming encoder, or in the public YouTube player. Then check the song source’s mixer meter and YouTube Studio for stream-health or copyright notices. The symptom alone does not identify one cause, and it is not specific to Indian music.
1. Find out where the sound disappears
Check the transition in three places: what you hear in your monitoring headphones, what the encoder outputs, and what a viewer hears in the YouTube player. If available, compare these with a local recording or archive. YouTube recommends checking sound directly in the encoder and using a local archive to help identify audio problems (YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance).

- You cannot hear the new song in your headphones, but viewers can: investigate the monitoring path, such as the selected monitoring device or headphone routing.
- The encoder and local recording are silent too: look upstream at the song source, input, scene or playlist transition, and encoder audio routing.
- The encoder and local recording sound right, but the YouTube player is silent: inspect YouTube Studio’s stream health and notices, then check the connection carrying the stream to YouTube.
- Both you and viewers hear silence: compare the source meter and encoder output before changing devices or settings.
This comparison narrows the fault to before or after the encoder; it does not, by itself, establish a specific cause.
2. Check the song source’s meter at the transition
In OBS, watch the audio meter for the source expected to carry the new song, especially as the playlist item, media source, or scene changes. OBS explains that when an input indicator is absent, audio is not reaching that OBS input; possible explanations include that no audio is available yet or that an audio interface is disconnected. A quiet or absent meter does not prove which explanation applies (OBS Audio Mixer Technical Details).

- No meter activity: confirm the next song actually started and that the intended source is active and connected. Check the source’s input selection and whether the audio device is available. If the source is a media item, verify that it is playing and that its audio is enabled.
- The meter moves: audio is reaching that OBS source. Check whether it is muted, whether its fader is lowered, whether a filter is affecting it, and whether it is routed to the output track you stream. OBS’s mixer guide describes how to inspect meter activity and channel behavior (OBS Audio Mixer Guide).
- The meter drops only between songs: observe the actual handoff. Determine whether the previous item ends before the next one begins, whether the next source activates, and whether a scene change alters which audio source is included.
Make one change at a time and watch the meter again. This avoids masking the original fault with an unrelated mixer adjustment.
3. Check the encoder output and the YouTube stream
Listen to the encoder’s output, not just the input meter. A moving source meter confirms audio is reaching that source, but does not establish that the audio is included in the outgoing stream. Check the encoder’s audio output and, where available, a local recording or archive of the same transition. YouTube recommends checking the encoder’s sound and appearance, the archived output, stream health, and the outbound internet connection when diagnosing live-stream problems (YouTube live-stream troubleshooting).

- Everything in the box: Includes Pro Tools Intro+, Ableton Live Lite, Cubase LE, and Hitmaker Expansion: a suite of essential effects, powerful software instruments, and easy-to-use mastering tools
- If the encoder output is silent: return to the source, mute and fader state, filters, output track, and routing. Check encoder errors as well.
- If the encoder sounds normal but the public player is silent or drops out: check YouTube Studio’s stream-health indicators and any warning or interruption notice. Also check the connection sending the stream to YouTube.
- If a local recording differs from the live player: use the encoder recording and Studio status together to identify whether the fault appears before or during platform delivery. A recording is evidence about the captured output, not proof of what caused a platform-side problem.
4. Check YouTube Studio for rights or stream notices
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. An identified match can trigger a warning and placeholder; if the issue is not resolved, YouTube says the live stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. Check Studio for the specific warning, interruption, or strike rather than assuming that every song transition dropout is a copyright match (YouTube: Copyright issues with live streams).
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights involving artists, record labels, publishers, and other participants (YouTube Livestream terms and conditions). Verify permission for the specific track and relevant territory. If you have permission to use third-party music, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel; a licence alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
5. Test a representative song change before going live
Run a private or otherwise suitable test that includes a song and transition representative of the planned stream. YouTube advises testing audio and movement similar to the intended broadcast and monitoring stream health during the event (YouTube live-stream troubleshooting; encoder setup and testing guidance).
- Play the actual source or playlist and make the scene or item change that has caused trouble.
- Watch the relevant source meter through the handoff.
- Listen to the encoder output and check a local recording if your encoder supports one.
- Check the YouTube player and Studio stream-health status during the test.
- If Studio displays a rights notice, resolve the rights or allowlisting issue before relying on that music in a live event.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the issue is keeping a prerecorded music stream running, rather than fixing a particular OBS routing fault, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Cloud hosting does not grant music rights or prevent YouTube from enforcing them. Start your free first day on StreamNeo.
