First identify whether your Galaxy A51 has no cellular service, cannot detect its SIM, or has working calls but no mobile data. Restart the phone, check SIM and carrier status, and verify coverage and data settings. If those checks fail, use the carrier’s current APN details or reset mobile network settings; arrange Samsung service only if an active, verified SIM still fails.
Identify what is failing
“No service,” “Emergency calls only,” “No SIM Card Detected,” and mobile data that will not connect are different symptoms. Before changing settings, check whether calls and texts work as well as data. That distinction helps narrow the next checks.

Restart and check SIM status
Restart the A51 first; a restart can clear a temporary SIM-recognition or software issue. Samsung recommends restarting as an early SIM troubleshooting step. Menu names can vary with the phone’s software version.

- Open Settings > About phone > Status information > SIM card status.
- Check whether the carrier name appears under Network.
- If the SIM is not shown or the network field is blank, continue with the physical SIM and carrier checks below.

Check the carrier, SIM, and coverage
A phone can lose service because of an inactive line, a carrier restriction, a local coverage problem, or a faulty or poorly seated SIM. Contact the carrier to confirm that the line is active, the SIM is permitted to activate in this device, and there is no outage or coverage issue where you are. Ask whether a SIM-protection service or account setting is blocking activation; Samsung notes that some SIM problems need carrier resolution.
Reseat and inspect the SIM
- Remove the SIM tray carefully and check that the physical SIM is correctly positioned. Galaxy devices using a physical SIM take a Nano-SIM.
- If the contacts look dirty, wipe them gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not touch them with metal objects or force the card or tray.
- Reinsert the SIM and make sure the tray is fully seated.
An optional SIM ejector tool can help remove the tray, but it cannot fix an account restriction, coverage problem, incorrect APN, or phone fault.

Try another active SIM if available
If a known-working SIM is recognized, contact your carrier about the original SIM, its activation, or the line; ask whether a replacement SIM is appropriate. If a known-working, active SIM also is not recognized, device service becomes more relevant, but that test alone does not prove a particular hardware defect.

If only mobile data is failing
When calls work but internet access does not, confirm mobile data is enabled and check whether coverage or network conditions are limiting data access. The carrier can also verify that data service is active on the account.

Ask your carrier for the APN settings currently required for your plan and network. APN values are carrier-specific, so do not copy settings from another carrier or use a supposed universal APN. Samsung’s guidance on internet disconnections while using mobile data covers data-network and APN checks, but it does not establish one APN for every country or operator.
Reset mobile network settings
If restarting and checking the SIM, carrier, coverage, and data settings have not helped, a network reset is a next step. On the Galaxy A51, Verizon’s model-specific instructions and Samsung’s general guidance give this path:

The exact label and reset effects can vary with software. Verizon warns that its network reset clears or restores cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth settings, including saved networks and passwords. - Open Samsung Members > Support > Get started.
- Select SIM under Phone diagnostics and follow the prompts.
If the carrier confirms that the SIM and line are active and a verified working SIM still cannot be recognized, contact Samsung to arrange service. The checks above can point toward a device issue, but they do not establish a specific A51 hardware failure.
