Start with your TV’s Motion Enhancement controls. Compare Film, Clear, Smooth and Off, then use Custom mode—if your model provides it—to adjust Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction separately. Change one control at a time while replaying the same moving scene. Hisense menus and features differ by model, picture mode, country or region, and content, so use the exact manual for your television.
Blur and judder are different problems
Motion blur is a soft trail or loss of edge detail behind a moving object. It is easiest to see on a fast sports play, a camera pan across text, or a bright object crossing a dark background. Judder is uneven-looking motion: a pan appears to hesitate, repeat a frame, or move in small jumps even though the image is otherwise sharp.

A scene can show both symptoms, but the controls are not interchangeable. Hisense manuals for several models expose separate Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction settings because they address different parts of motion processing. Raising both sliders is not a guaranteed improvement; processing that reduces one symptom can make the other more noticeable or create an artificial-looking picture.

| What you see | Likely control to test first | How to judge the result |
|---|---|---|
| Trails or softness behind a moving ball, person or vehicle | Blur Reduction, or the Clear preset | Edges should stay more defined without obvious halos or double images. |
| Uneven movement during a slow camera pan | Judder Reduction, or the Film preset | The pan should look more even without excessive “video” smoothness. |
| Very smooth but unnatural movement | Lower processing, try Film or Off | Faces, film motion and backgrounds should look natural to you. |
| Problem appears only on one input or app | Compare sources before changing many settings | Determine whether the symptom follows the content source. |
Before changing settings, identify when the symptom occurs
Write down the source and type of content that looks wrong. Check a built-in streaming app, a live-TV channel, and an external device such as a set-top box or game console if those are available. Use the same scene, or pause and replay a short section, so each setting change has a fair comparison.

- If every source shows the same blur or judder, concentrate on the TV’s picture-processing settings.
- If only one app, channel or external device shows it, compare another title and verify that device’s output settings before assuming the panel is faulty.
- If the issue changes with picture mode, remember that motion options can be stored separately for different modes or inputs.
- If a setting is missing, do not assume the TV is defective. Hisense states in its manuals that functions can be unavailable on some models or in some countries or regions.
This check is diagnostic rather than a promise that a particular source has a particular frame rate. The cited Hisense manuals do not establish one universal cause or a hardware diagnosis for all motion complaints.
Open Motion Enhancement on your Hisense TV
On the 50U6G1 manual, the documented route is Settings > Display & Sound > Picture > Advanced Settings. Look for Motion Enhancement or a similarly named motion option. Your model may place it under a different heading, use different wording, or omit it in a particular picture mode.
- Press the Home or Settings button on the Hisense remote.
- Open Picture. If your interface shows Display & Sound first, select that category and then Picture.
- Open Advanced Settings, if present.
- Select Motion Enhancement and note the choices shown for your model.
- Leave the same moving scene playing while you compare settings. Avoid changing brightness, sharpness and motion controls at the same time.
Hisense’s general guidance identifies Film, Clear and Smooth as motion choices on TVs that offer them. Some sets also show Off and Custom. The exact list is model-, region-, picture-mode- and content-dependent.
Compare the built-in motion presets
Film
Film is a useful first comparison when judder is most obvious during movie-style pans. It generally applies less aggressive smoothing than the most fluid preset, but the manual does not define one fixed processing level for every Hisense model. Judge whether the pan becomes more even while faces and backgrounds retain a natural appearance.
Clear
Clear is a sensible test for trails or softness on fast movement. If it reduces blur but introduces flicker, halos or a dimmer-looking image, it may not be the best choice for your content. Keep the setting only if the improvement is visible in scenes you actually watch.

Smooth
Smooth applies a stronger motion-smoothing effect on models that provide it. It can make broadcasts or sports look more fluid, but some viewers dislike the resulting “video” appearance in films and scripted shows. It can also produce artifacts around moving people or objects.
Off
Off disables the TV’s motion-enhancement processing where that option is available. It is an important baseline: if Off looks more natural and the remaining movement is acceptable, extra processing is not helping your particular source.

Custom is the precise option when your model exposes separate controls. Hisense’s 65U8G manual states: “If you select Custom, you can configure Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction manually.” Other manuals, including those for the 50U6G1 and 55U75H, document similar motion controls, but availability is not universal.
Set Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction separately
Use small changes and allow the same scene to repeat after each change. There is no universal numeric value supported by the cited Hisense documentation, and a setting that suits a 24-frame-per-second film may look different on live television or a game.
- Select Custom if it is available.
- Set or note the current Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction positions so you can return to them.
- Change Blur Reduction alone. Replay a fast object crossing the screen and look for cleaner edges, trailing, halos or double contours.
- Restore the original Blur Reduction position if the change does not help, then change Judder Reduction alone.
- Replay a slow pan or scrolling credit sequence. Look for steadier movement, repeated frames, warping or an overly smooth video appearance.
- Test the combination on a second type of content before keeping it. A setting can improve one scene and make another look worse.
Hisense’s older manual wording, preserved in search material without a reliable model or year attribution, warns that reducing judder may cause picture blur. Treat that as a useful explanation of the trade-off, not as a model-specific instruction. The current manuals establish that blur and judder are separate controls; they do not establish one ideal slider position.

Why a 120 Hz label does not automatically remove blur or judder
Refresh rate describes how often the display can update, while the source determines how many distinct frames are supplied. Hisense’s refresh-rate guidance uses 60 Hz and 120 Hz examples and explains that a 120 Hz TV showing 60 frames per second may generate additional frames. Generated frames can change the appearance of motion, but they do not create new detail that was captured in the original footage.
Do not treat a marketing term such as “Motion Rate” as proof of a panel’s native refresh rate. For a specific television, use the model specification and manual. The refresh-rate example also does not mean every broadcast, app or external device uses the same frame rate. Motion Enhancement remains a processing choice that you should evaluate with your own sources.
Use the same test scene for a reliable comparison
For blur
- Choose a bright object moving quickly across a contrasting background.
- Watch the leading and trailing edges, not just the overall impression of sharpness.
- Check for halos, duplicated outlines and detail that appears to melt into the background.
For judder
- Use a slow horizontal pan, a ticker or rolling credits.
- Watch for a repeating hesitation or uneven step pattern.
- Compare Film, Custom and Off without changing other picture controls.
For processing artifacts
- Look around hair, hands, netting, fences and high-contrast edges.
- Check whether the background bends or breaks as a person moves.
- Watch a face crossing a detailed background; excessive interpolation can make the outline unstable.
Judge the setting from a normal viewing distance and with the content you care about. Pausing a single frame can reveal edge detail, but it cannot tell you how comfortable the motion looks over an entire programme.
Reset picture settings if the image gets worse
If you lose track of your changes or the picture becomes distracting, use the reset command rather than guessing at several sliders. The 50U6G1 manual documents Settings > Display & Sound > Picture > Reset for the current picture settings. Other Hisense televisions may label the command differently or place it elsewhere.
- Open Settings and return to Display & Sound, Picture and the picture-settings area.
- Select Reset or the equivalent current-picture reset command.
- Confirm the reset only after reading the on-screen message; it can restore more than the motion control you changed.
- Reapply only the adjustments you can evaluate with a known scene.
Because reset scope varies, consult the exact model manual before using it if you have carefully calibrated other picture settings.

When motion controls are unavailable
Hisense’s E-Manual 9603GTV notes that picture options can depend on the model, country or region and the content being watched. The 65U8G, 50U6G1 and 55U75H manuals likewise indicate that functions may not exist on every model. A missing Motion Enhancement menu can therefore be normal.
- Exit a special picture mode and check a standard mode, because some modes restrict processing choices.
- Try the same input with a different type of content; certain options can be unavailable for particular signals.
- Confirm the exact model number printed in the TV’s settings or on its label, then use that model’s manual.
- Do not substitute a menu path from another Hisense series as if it were universal.
If the manual for your exact model does not list motion controls, there is no documented slider to adjust. Use the available picture modes and source settings instead of forcing an unsupported procedure.
Troubleshoot by source before suspecting a TV fault
Built-in apps look bad but other inputs do not
Compare another title in the same app and then a different built-in app. If only one programme shows the issue, the content may simply have different motion characteristics. If every built-in app looks the same but an external device does not, review the app-side or TV picture mode used for those apps.
An external box or console looks bad
Compare the external input with a built-in app using the same type of moving scene. Check that the device is not switching between unusual output modes, but do not assume an HDMI cable or a new accessory is a cure; the cited Hisense instructions identify picture settings, not cable replacement, as the relevant adjustment for this symptom.

Live television looks uneven
Check another channel and a recorded or on-demand programme. Different material can have different motion cadence. Use Film, Clear, Smooth, Custom or Off as available, then keep the least distracting result rather than applying one setting to every source.
Best Value
The problem remains after a reset
Record which inputs, apps and scenes show the symptom, confirm the model number, and consult the exact Hisense manual or official support. The manuals cited here do not establish a universal hardware fault or a repair procedure for persistent blur or judder.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Changing every picture control at once: you will not know which adjustment helped.
- Copying a slider number from another TV: Hisense does not provide one value that applies to every model and source.
- Assuming smoother always means better: interpolation can reduce visible judder while producing an appearance you dislike.
- Confusing blur with judder: use the separate controls when Custom mode provides them.
- Assuming a 120 Hz specification guarantees detail: generated frames alter motion presentation but cannot recreate details absent from the source.
- Using a different model’s menu instructions: paths and feature availability vary by model, region, picture mode and content.
- Buying hardware before checking settings: the official guidance addresses this general symptom through Motion Enhancement and picture controls, not a replacement TV or repair part.
A practical decision sequence
For most owners, the following order minimizes guesswork:
- Identify whether the complaint is trails, uneven pans, or both.
- Compare the same scene on at least two sources when possible.
- Open Picture settings and locate Motion Enhancement.
- Compare Off, Film, Clear and Smooth if those presets are listed.
- Choose Custom when available and adjust Blur Reduction and Judder Reduction independently.
- Check the chosen setting on a second programme before keeping it.
- Reset current picture settings if the result is worse or confusing.
- Use the exact model manual or official support when a menu is missing or the symptom persists.
This process gives you a repeatable baseline without pretending that one preset or slider value can correct every source.

What result should you expect?
A successful adjustment is a personal and source-dependent compromise: moving objects have fewer distracting trails, pans look more even, and the picture does not acquire artifacts or an unwanted video-like appearance. You may prefer different settings for films, sports, live television and games if your TV stores them by input or picture mode.
If no available mode produces acceptable motion, document the exact model, software interface, input and examples that fail, then ask Hisense support for model-specific guidance. Do not infer a failed panel solely from a general description of blur or judder; the official manuals provide settings guidance but do not diagnose every persistent symptom.
