Do not download a random copy of js0group.dll. Identify the application that reports the error, restart Windows, use that application’s Repair or Reset option when available, and then reinstall it from the publisher’s official installer if necessary. A third-party metadata record associates some copies with Dassault Systemes software, but no authoritative source establishes one parent application for every js0group.dll file. The correct repair therefore depends on the program, Windows version, and 32- or 64-bit build involved.
What js0group.dll is—and what the error means
A file ending in .dll is a dynamic-link library: shared code that an application loads when it needs a particular function. The message may say that js0group.dll is missing, was not found, could not be loaded, or caused an application to stop. Those messages usually indicate that the program cannot use the library it expects; they do not, by themselves, prove that Windows itself is damaged or that the file is malware.

A third-party metadata page labels js0group.dll as a Windows “System” DLL and records a Dassault Systemes copyright and product context. It lists product version 5.20.0.9302, several observed versions, and three SHA-256 hashes. Those are observations from a FixDLLs page record in 2026, not proof that every copy belongs to the same product, is authentic, or is safe. No authoritative vendor documentation identifies one universal parent application for every copy of this file.

Before changing anything, capture the exact failure
Record the complete message
Write down the full text, including the name of the program that opened the message. “The code execution cannot proceed because js0group.dll was not found” points to a missing dependency; “js0group.dll is either not designed to run on Windows” can indicate an incompatible or damaged build. A crash that names the DLL but gives no missing-file wording may require the same application repair, but it should not be treated as proof that replacing the file alone will help.
Note when it started
Record whether the problem appeared after installing, updating, uninstalling, or moving an application; after a Windows update; or after downloading an unofficial installer. This timing determines whether you should first repair the named application, restore its official installation, or investigate a potentially unsafe download.
Do not delete or rename the file yet
If a copy exists, leave it in place until you know which application owns it. Deleting a shared component can create additional errors, while copying a file from another computer can introduce a mismatched version or architecture.

1. Restart Windows
Save your work, close the affected program, and choose Start > Power > Restart. A restart can clear a locked file or complete an installation operation that has not finished. Try the application again after Windows returns. If the same message appears, continue; a restart does not replace a missing or damaged library.
2. Repair the application in Windows 11
Windows 11 may provide a built-in repair path that restores an application’s files without a full uninstall.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps.
- Find the program named in the js0group.dll error. Use the search box if the list is long.
- Open the application’s three-dot menu and choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair, wait for Windows to finish, and launch the application again.
Microsoft notes that not all desktop applications expose these controls. If Advanced options or Repair is absent, do not create a substitute DLL manually; move to the publisher’s installer or the uninstall-and-reinstall procedure.
3. Use Reset only when Repair does not work
From the same Settings > Apps > Installed apps > [application] > Advanced options page, choose Reset if it is available and Repair did not resolve the error. Reset is a more disruptive action: it returns the application to its default state and can remove its local data, preferences, or sign-in state. Before selecting it, confirm that you know how to recover the program’s settings and that important files are stored separately from the application’s local data.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAfter Reset completes, open the program. If it starts, reapply only the settings you need and check that the js0group.dll message has not returned. If Reset fails or the program still cannot load, reinstall it from an official source.
4. Uninstall and reinstall from the publisher
A reinstall is the reliable way to restore a library that is missing from an application’s own folder or was replaced by an incomplete update.
- Back up documents and any project files created with the affected application. Do not assume uninstalling will preserve custom profiles or locally stored data.
- Use Settings > Apps > Installed apps, select the application, and choose Uninstall. If the publisher supplies its own uninstaller, follow that program’s instructions.
- Restart Windows if the uninstaller requests it or leaves the application in a pending state.
- Download or obtain the installer from the application’s publisher or another official distribution channel. Match the release to your Windows version and the application’s required 32- or 64-bit architecture.
- Run the installer, allow it to complete without interruption, and launch the application from its normal shortcut.
Do not copy js0group.dll from a different computer or from an unrelated software package. Even two files with the same name can have different builds, exports, dependencies, or signing information. The owning application’s installer is the source that knows which companion files belong together.
5. Use Microsoft’s Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter when setup data is damaged
If Windows will not uninstall, reinstall, or update the affected application, Microsoft documents a Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter. It is intended for problems such as corrupted registry keys and incomplete installation, update, or uninstall data. Use Microsoft’s current instructions to obtain and run that troubleshooter, select the affected program when prompted, and then retry the official installation. The troubleshooter addresses setup records; it is not a replacement for the application’s own files.
6. Check compatibility and architecture
Older software may expect a library built for a particular Windows release or processor architecture. Check the publisher’s compatibility guidance for the exact application version. Install the build intended for your system rather than forcing a DLL from another machine. A 32-bit application and a 64-bit application can require different companion components, and a library from a newer or older release may not export the functions the program expects.

If the publisher has stopped distributing the old release, use its documented support channel to ask which supported installer replaces it. Do not treat the third-party metadata record’s product version 5.20.0.9302 as a universal target: it is one recorded version, not a rule for every installation.
Why downloading js0group.dll by itself is risky
DLL search behavior creates a security problem that a standalone download does not solve. Microsoft explains that when an application loads a DLL without a fully qualified path, Windows searches a defined order of directories. If an attacker controls one of those directories, the attacker can place a malicious file there; if Windows finds it first, the application can run that code with the application’s privileges. Microsoft’s Dynamic-Link Library Security guidance states: “If an attacker gains control of one of the directories on the DLL search path, it can place a malicious copy of the DLL in that directory.”
For an end user, the practical rule is simple:
- Do not use a generic DLL mirror as the source of a replacement.
- Do not overwrite
C:WindowsSystem32, another Windows system folder, or an application’s folder with an unverified file. - Restore the component through the owning application’s signed installer, its Repair feature, or the publisher’s official support channel.
- Keep the original error details and installer information so support staff can match the correct build.
A file’s name, copyright string, product version, or a matching hash shown on a third-party page cannot establish that an arbitrary download is the right file for your installation. The three SHA-256 hashes recorded by FixDLLs are metadata examples, not an authorization to download or replace a file.

When the error could involve malware
Signs that warrant a security check
Run a malware check if the message followed a cracked installer, an unknown download, an unexpected browser prompt, or a suspicious process. The timing does not prove infection, but it raises the cost of trusting an unverified DLL. Microsoft advises using Windows Security when removing malware or a suspicious app, and removing the app only after threats have been cleaned.
- Disconnect from untrusted networks if the computer is showing active suspicious behavior, while keeping enough connectivity to obtain security updates from a trusted connection.
- Open Windows Security and bring Windows and its security definitions up to date.
- Run the available malware scan and follow Windows Security’s quarantine or removal instructions.
- After threats are handled, remove the suspicious application and reinstall the legitimate program from its publisher.
Keep Windows patched and leave Windows Security enabled. A js0group.dll message alone is not evidence of malware, so do not delete a legitimate application merely because its error names a DLL.
If files are being encrypted or ransom demands appear
Ransomware-like behavior changes the priority. Microsoft advises cleaning the PC before attempting file recovery and says not to pay a ransom because payment does not guarantee recovery. Stop using the affected computer for ordinary work, use a trusted device to consult Microsoft’s recovery guidance, and preserve evidence for your organization’s administrator or an incident-response professional.

Use these five checks before you choose a repair path: the trustworthiness of the source, the exact symptom, the identity and version of the application, Windows and 32/64-bit compatibility, and whether the action preserves user data and settings.

No one option is a universal fix. A DLL mirror scores poorly on source trust even when its filename matches; an official reinstall scores better because it supplies the complete, version-matched application. Reset may solve corrupted local state but can remove preferences. Malware scanning is essential when the circumstances are suspicious, but it does not repair an ordinary missing dependency by itself.
After reinstalling: verify the result without creating a new problem
Test the application in a controlled order
- Restart Windows if the installer requested it.
- Open the application from its normal Start-menu or desktop shortcut.
- Open a representative file or project only after the program reaches its main window.
- Check that the original js0group.dll message is gone and note any new, differently named dependency.
- Restore custom settings gradually. If the error returns after a plug-in or add-on is enabled, disable that add-on and contact the application publisher.
What to tell support
If the problem persists, provide the publisher with the exact error text, application name and version, Windows edition and version, whether the system is 32-bit or 64-bit, when the failure began, and which repair steps you completed. Include the installation source and any installer error code. Do not attach a random DLL or claim that the FixDLLs metadata proves ownership; the publisher needs to identify the correct build for your installation.
When to stop experimenting
Stop manual replacement attempts when the application still fails after an official reinstall, when Windows reports repeated integrity or security warnings, or when multiple unrelated programs begin showing DLL errors. At that point, further copying can obscure the original cause. Use the publisher’s support channel for application-specific diagnosis and Microsoft’s security guidance if suspicious activity is present.
What is established—and what is not
- There is no authoritative vendor document in the available record that identifies one universal parent application for every js0group.dll copy.
- There is no authoritative Microsoft catalog entry or published study proving that js0group.dll is malware.
- There is no universal replacement download shown to be correct for all systems.
- No reliable statistic establishes how often this specific error occurs or how often any repair succeeds.
Those limits are why the safe method starts with the application named in your error and restores its own files. The filename is a clue, not a diagnosis.
