If Morkvarg won’t talk or In Wolf’s Clothing will not progress, first check the exact current objective in your Journal. The quest has several separate stages, and the right next step depends on where your save is stuck. If the objectives are complete and only the Journal entry remains active, that may be a display issue rather than blocked progress.
Identify the stage that is actually stuck
Open the Journal and read the current objective for In Wolf’s Clothing before repeating the encounter. The quest can involve finding Morkvarg, dealing with him, investigating the garden or flooded cave, reading his journal, learning about the curse from Einar, choosing how to resolve it, and reporting back to the priestess for the reward. The walkthrough treats these as distinct objectives, and their order or remaining steps can vary with the save.

- It points you to Morkvarg: continue the investigation or encounter indicated by the objective rather than trying to force a later dialogue step.
- It asks you to investigate or read the journal: complete that step and check whether the objective updates. If the stall began immediately after reading Morkvarg’s journal, see the historical bug guidance below.
- It points to Einar or the curse: follow that lead. Einar’s account connects the cursed fang with the curse and its resolution.
- It asks you to lift the curse or report back: confirm that you completed your chosen curse route, then follow the remaining objective to the priestess and reward.
If Morkvarg will not talk
Do not assume that dialogue is the next required action just because you are standing near him. Check the Journal objective: the quest may still require an investigation, another encounter step, or information from Einar before a conversation or later objective becomes available. If the objective specifically calls for speaking with Morkvarg and the interaction still does not appear, use the recovery steps below rather than repeating a curse choice at random.

If progress stopped after reading Morkvarg’s journal
CD PROJEKT RED’s patch 1.07 notes document a quest-progression issue that could occur after reading Morkvarg’s journal. This confirms a historical bug, but it does not establish that every current stall at this point has the same cause or that the patch notes provide a universal repair.
- Check whether the game is updated to the latest version available for your platform.
- If you have a save from before the objective stopped updating, load it and retry from there.
- If the same issue persists, continue with the general troubleshooting steps below.
Check for a quest prerequisite, then recover the save
CD PROJEKT RED’s official quest guidance notes: “During some quests another quest activates which needs to be completed first in order to progress.” Check your active quests for a newly available related quest before concluding that In Wolf’s Clothing is broken.
For a quest that will not complete or progress, the developer’s PC guidance recommends verifying the game files and then reloading a save made before the problem. The file-verification instructions are for PC; console players should follow the equivalent support or file-repair process for their platform rather than applying Windows steps.

- Verify the game files using the platform’s game-repair option on PC.
- Load a save made before the stall began, then follow the Journal objective again.
- Check the objective after each required step so you can tell whether the save has resumed progression or remains blocked at the same point.
Choose a curse route only when the objective calls for it
The curse choices are story outcomes, not general fixes for a missing interaction. The walkthrough documents two routes:

Use the route that fits your intended outcome and the Journal’s current objective. Repeating a choice will not address a separate problem such as a missing quest trigger or a completed quest that still appears active.

Patch 1.10 recorded a separate issue in which In Wolf’s Clothing could remain active in the Journal even after all objectives were complete. A community quest reference also notes that the priestesses objective can remain displayed without preventing completion. So distinguish a stale entry from a genuine block: check whether the actual objectives are done and whether you received the reward before replaying a substantial part of the quest.

Special case: Morkvarg cannot be killed in New Game Plus
A later patch changelog records an issue that could make killing Morkvarg impossible in New Game Plus. This is relevant only if your specific problem is that you cannot kill him in NG+. It does not explain every dialogue failure or quest stall, so use the Journal objective and the general recovery steps to diagnose other symptoms.
