There is no single fix for a headless Chrome screenshot that fails on a Flipkart product page: the failure may happen while Chrome starts, while the page navigates, before the product content is ready, during the screenshot call, or when the image is saved. First inspect what Chrome actually loaded, then isolate the stage that failed. Also check whether automated access is permitted for your target Flipkart domain and workflow.
First identify which part failed
Record the exact Chrome command or automation call and its complete error or exit code. Note the requested URL, final URL, page title, whether Chrome started, whether a screenshot file appeared, and whether it contains the expected page. Also record the Chrome or Chromium build, automation-library version, operating system or container, viewport, and device scale.

These observations distinguish a browser launch problem from navigation, page readiness, capture, or file-output problems. Without the error and rendered response, it is not possible to name a Flipkart-specific cause reliably.

Use Chrome’s DOM and screenshot flags
Chrome Headless supports --dump-dom, which prints the DOM after parsing and script execution, and --screenshot, which saves a screenshot. Run a diagnostic capture with an explicit viewport and bounded wait:

The exact Chrome executable name and whether --no-sandbox is appropriate depend on your platform and security setup; do not disable the sandbox reflexively. Chrome documents these flags and their behavior at Chrome Headless.
Inspect page.html and the image. Check the final URL, title, and visible page state. If the DOM shows a challenge, error, login, or other response instead of the product, the browser reached a different page state; changing how PNG bytes are written will not fix that. Do not assume bot detection unless the rendered response supports that conclusion.
Make the viewport and timing deliberate
--window-size makes the capture dimensions explicit. Chrome’s --timeout sets a maximum wait before capture; it does not prove that product content or images have finished loading. For time-dependent behavior, --virtual-time-budget can fast-forward timers such as setTimeout and setInterval, but it cannot supply missing network responses or repair blocked navigation.

Fix the failure at the stage where it occurs
Chrome will not start
Keep launch troubleshooting separate from screenshot timing. Save the full launch error, Chrome version, operating system or container image, and the exact launch arguments. Check that the browser and its required platform dependencies are installed and compatible with the automation library. Puppeteer’s troubleshooting guide covers common launch and navigation failures: Puppeteer troubleshooting.
Navigation fails or lands on an unexpected URL
Capture the navigation exception and inspect the final URL, title, DOM, and any browser warning or site response. Puppeteer’s guide describes an HTTPS-first warning case for remote HTTP URLs; that is relevant only if your failing URL is HTTP and the browser behavior in question applies. Do not apply that explanation to an unspecified Flipkart URL.
Navigation succeeds, but product content is missing
Wait for a meaningful visible condition rather than relying only on a fixed sleep or network-idle event. With Puppeteer, for example, wait for a selector that identifies the product content you need, if you have verified that selector for the page and layout:

The screenshot call times out or throws
Test a known, simple page using the same runtime, then isolate the screenshot call from navigation. Verify the capture promise resolves and the returned image data is written to the intended path. Puppeteer’s Page.screenshot() returns image data; its API also documents interactions with page and context operations while a screenshot is in progress: Puppeteer Page.screenshot(). Avoid overlapping page creation or closure with capture, and do not treat bringing a page to the front as a synchronization mechanism.
If the issue occurs only in CI, compare the browser build, container, dependencies, viewport, device scale, and relevant settings with a local run. Remove extensions only if your setup actually uses them. A reported container timeout involving an extension is an environment-specific example, not evidence of a general extension or Flipkart defect: Playwright issue 23717.

The file is missing, empty, or visually different
Confirm the screenshot call completed, the output path is the one you are checking, and the returned bytes were written successfully. If the image exists but differs from the expected pixels, first normalize the operating system, browser version, viewport, device scale, fonts, page state, and headless mode. Playwright notes that rendering can vary with the host OS, version, settings, hardware, power source, and headless mode: Playwright visual comparisons. Mask or hide volatile content only when it is irrelevant to the test; do not suppress a meaningful error or access response to make a comparison pass.
Choose a capture approach that matches the task

For a viewport capture, record the viewport and device scale. For a full-page or element capture, verify that the page content is present and that the chosen capture API and page state match what you intend to test. Neither a larger timeout nor a different capture mode establishes that access is allowed.

- The exact command or minimal script and full error or stack trace.
- Whether Chrome starts; the requested and final URLs; the page title; and whether
--dump-domshows the product page or another response. - Chrome/Chromium and framework versions, operating system or container, viewport, and device scale.
- Whether the screenshot file was created and whether the same runtime can capture an unrelated known page.
- The readiness condition or selector used, its timeout, and whether extensions or concurrent page operations are involved.
