Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsUse a strict diagnostic order: confirm that your edition and mode are supported, verify AuraV’s files beside GTA5_Enhanced.exe, check AuraV.log, and only then apply Rockstar’s general PC troubleshooting steps. AuraV’s current guide covers GTA V Enhanced on Windows 10 or 11 in Story Mode with an NVIDIA RTX graphics card; it does not cover GTA Online, and Legacy/FiveM support is still listed as forthcoming.
That order separates a mod that never loaded from a game, driver, runtime, or system problem. It also prevents a common mistake: changing several graphics settings at once and losing the evidence needed to identify the cause.

Confirm the supported setup before changing anything
AuraV’s current installation instructions are specifically for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on PC, running on Windows 10 or 11, in Story Mode. The creator states that path tracing requires an NVIDIA RTX graphics card. If any of those conditions is different, treat the Enhanced instructions as inapplicable rather than assuming a missing menu or crash is a graphics-setting problem.

Before troubleshooting, write down the game build, AuraV edition and version, graphics-driver version, GPU model, and whether ScriptHookV or ReShade is installed. Note whether the problem began after a game, mod, driver, or Windows update. These details do not prove that a particular component caused the failure, but they make later comparisons meaningful.
Know what AuraV is changing
AuraV is presented by its creator as a graphics overhaul for GTA V Enhanced. Its feature description includes path-traced lighting and shadows, ray-traced reflections refined with NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction, a new sky, lighting and weather work, and two distribution tiers. The official pages do not publish a universal frame-rate expectation, crash rate, or artifact-removal guarantee, so use those features as configuration context rather than as a performance promise.
| Edition | Availability described by the creator | Scope described on the official page |
|---|---|---|
| AuraV Lite | Free | New sky, lighting, weather, and path tracing. |
| AuraV Full | Patreon early-access edition | Includes the path-tracing features plus additional water and vehicle effects. |
Both editions are described as having path tracing. Choosing Full does not establish that a crash, stutter, or artifact will be fixed; the consulted installation and product pages do not map individual symptoms to edition-specific remedies.

Incorrect placement is the first thing to check when the game launches but the mod is invisible, when F10 does nothing, or when a loader error appears. AuraV is supplied with its own loader and ordinarily does not require a separate ASI loader or mod manager.

- Close GTA V and its launcher. Do not replace files while the game is running.
- Open the GTA V Enhanced installation folder. Identify the folder containing
GTA5_Enhanced.exe; that is the destination for the extracted AuraV files. - Extract the package directly into that folder. Avoid an extra nested directory such as
GTA V EnhancedAuraVAuraV.asiwhen the guide expects the files beside the executable. - Check the resulting layout. The key files should be arranged as follows.
| Item | Expected location |
|---|---|
AuraV.asi |
Beside GTA5_Enhanced.exe |
msdmo.dll |
Beside GTA5_Enhanced.exe |
AuraV folder |
Beside GTA5_Enhanced.exe |
AuraV.bank |
Inside the AuraV folder, as specified by the installation guide |
- Account for ScriptHookV if you use it. AuraV includes its own loader, but the creator says ScriptHookV users must have ScriptHookV’s ASI loader present in the game folder.
- Launch Story Mode. The current guide is not for GTA Online.
- Press F10. AuraV’s menu is opened with F10 when the files have loaded correctly.
Do not add an unrelated loader simply because the menu is absent. First prove that the edition, mode, file placement, and required loader conditions match the documented setup.
If F10 does nothing or AuraV never appears
Work through these checks in order, retaining the original files and any log output before making another change.
- Confirm the mode. Exit GTA Online and enter Story Mode.
- Recheck the executable folder.
AuraV.asiandmsdmo.dllmust be besideGTA5_Enhanced.exe, not in Downloads, a newly created subfolder, or a Legacy installation. - Recheck the bank file.
AuraV.bankbelongs in the AuraV folder. A misplaced or missing bank file can prevent the interface from appearing. - Check the ASI loader condition. If ScriptHookV is installed, verify that its ASI loader is present as required by the guide. If you are not using ScriptHookV, do not assume its loader is needed because AuraV already supplies its own loader.
- Open
AuraV.log. The log is in the AuraV folder. Read the newest entries after one launch attempt and record any missing-file or load-failure message. - Inspect antivirus quarantine. The creator notes that antivirus software can remove or block
AuraV.asi. If the file is quarantined, verify that the package came from the official AuraV distribution and restore only that official file when you trust the source and your security software permits it. Do not disable protection indiscriminately. - Try one fresh launch. After correcting one documented issue, launch Story Mode again and press F10 once the session is loaded. If the result is unchanged, preserve the log and move to the next check rather than changing several files together.
If the log does not identify a cause, that is not evidence that a different keybind or graphics setting will solve the problem. The official materials reviewed here provide placement and loading checks, not a universal F10 repair.

Apply Rockstar’s general PC troubleshooting sequence
Rockstar’s customer-support checklist is for general GTA V PC installation issues, crashes, freezes, and poor performance. It is not presented as an AuraV-specific cure. The article was last updated October 7, 2025, so its procedure should be treated as a current baseline while recognizing that later game builds may change launcher labels or behavior.
- Connect the computer to the internet and allow the latest game patch. A partially updated installation can produce failures that look like mod problems.
- Update the graphics driver. Install the current driver appropriate for the NVIDIA GPU, then restart Windows if the installer requests it. Record the old and new driver versions so you can correlate any change with the symptom.
- Verify the game files. In the launcher that owns your GTA V installation, use its file-verification option and allow the process to finish. Verification can replace damaged base-game files; it does not prove that AuraV’s files are correctly placed afterward, so recheck the mod layout.
- Follow the named runtime error. If the crash identifies DirectX or a Visual C++ component, repair or reinstall the relevant runtime using Rockstar’s troubleshooting guidance instead of downloading random replacement DLLs from third-party sites.
- Check antivirus interference. Look for quarantined or blocked game and mod files. Restore only files you can identify and trust, and keep your security software enabled whenever possible.
- Read the launcher log. Rockstar identifies
My DocumentsRockstar GamesGTAVlauncher.logas a useful record for installation and startup failures. Save a copy immediately after reproducing the problem. - Generate system reports. Review DxDiag and MSInfo for graphics-driver details, Windows Error Reporting entries, and hardware or runtime errors that coincide with the crash.
If GTA V crashes with AuraV removed as well, prioritize this general game and system path. If the unmodified game is stable but AuraV fails to load or crashes only after its files are restored, include the AuraV log and exact file layout when seeking creator support.
Diagnose stuttering without inventing a cure
The official AuraV pages reviewed for this guide do not publish a validated list of stutter causes or a setting that cures every uneven frame-time problem. Treat stuttering as a reproducibility problem first.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Build a reproducible description
- Record the in-game location, weather, time of day, and whether the camera is stationary, panning, driving, or flying.
- Write down resolution, graphics preset, ray-tracing and path-tracing state, upscaling mode, and frame-generation state if those controls are available in your configuration.
- Note whether the stutter appears immediately, only after several minutes, or only during a particular transition.
- Repeat the same route or camera movement with AuraV enabled and then disabled, changing nothing else.
Change one documented factor at a time
Use the comparison to isolate the symptom rather than to claim that disabling a feature is a permanent fix. If the stutter disappears only when AuraV is disabled, preserve the conditions, the log, and the driver version and report them to the creator. If it remains with the mod disabled, continue with driver, file-verification, runtime, antivirus, and system-log checks from Rockstar’s baseline.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Investigate graphical artifacts methodically
Artifacts include flashing surfaces, incorrect reflections, shimmering shadows, missing lighting, or geometry that appears only under a particular view. The available AuraV documentation describes the visual features but does not associate a named artifact with a confirmed remedy.
Record the exact visual condition
- Capture the scene and identify the weather, time, location, and camera angle.
- Note whether the defect affects lighting, shadows, reflections, sky, water, vehicles, or general geometry.
- Record whether the defect is present continuously or only while moving the camera.
- Compare the same scene with AuraV disabled, keeping the game settings and driver unchanged.
- Save
AuraV.logfrom the affected session and note the game and mod versions.
A clean comparison can show whether the symptom follows the mod, but it does not establish which internal feature is responsible. Avoid downloading a replacement shader, changing several DLLs, or adding a different loader without documentation for your exact Enhanced configuration.
Use logs and a complete support report
Logs are most useful when they are paired with a precise reproduction. For an AuraV report, include the edition, version, game build, Windows version, RTX GPU, driver version, installed ScriptHookV or ReShade components, and the exact steps that lead to the failure.
AuraV.log: found in the AuraV folder; copy it after reproducing the issue.launcher.log: found atMy DocumentsRockstar GamesGTAVlauncher.logfor general launcher or startup failures.- DxDiag and MSInfo: provide hardware, driver, Windows, and Windows Error Reporting context for system-level crashes.
- Reproduction notes: state whether the issue occurs in Story Mode, whether F10 responds, whether the game works with AuraV disabled, and which single change was made before the result changed.
Send only the files requested by the relevant support channel, and remove personal information from reports where appropriate. A log that covers one controlled failure is more useful than a collection produced after many simultaneous changes.
Quick Recap
A safe recovery order when troubleshooting gets messy
- Stop changing files and preserve evidence. Copy
AuraV.log,launcher.log, screenshots, and your configuration notes. - Return to the supported scope. Confirm GTA V Enhanced, Windows 10 or 11, Story Mode, and an NVIDIA RTX card before applying the Enhanced instructions.
- Check the four critical AuraV locations. Verify
AuraV.asiandmsdmo.dllbesideGTA5_Enhanced.exe, the AuraV folder beside it, andAuraV.bankinside that folder. - Resolve loading evidence first. Inspect the log and antivirus quarantine, and account for ScriptHookV’s ASI loader only if ScriptHookV is installed.
- Test Story Mode once. Press F10 and record the result.
- Run Rockstar’s baseline checks. Patch, update the driver, verify files, address named DirectX or Visual C++ errors, check antivirus, and inspect logs and system reports.
- Escalate unresolved symptoms with a controlled report. Include the exact scene and reproduction steps for stutters or artifacts instead of describing them only as poor performance.
What not to assume
- Do not assume a Legacy or FiveM installation can use the Enhanced guide; the creator lists those versions as forthcoming support.
- Do not launch AuraV in GTA Online; its documented scope is Story Mode.
- Do not assume F10 requires a new keybind before checking file placement, the bank file, Story Mode, and
AuraV.log. - Do not treat a driver update, file verification, or antivirus change as a guaranteed AuraV fix; those are Rockstar’s general PC troubleshooting measures.
- Do not claim that a specific RTX model, resolution, or preset will deliver a particular frame rate; no such benchmark is provided in the official material.
- Do not promise that path tracing, stutters, or artifacts have a universal remedy when the creator’s pages do not document one.
