If the entitlement still cannot be found, submit a ticket to Epic Games Support.
The key is to separate an ownership problem from a visibility or display problem. A missing item in one list may still be archived, filtered out, or represented by a style selector. A missing name or rarity label is a different symptom from an item that cannot be equipped at all.

First, identify what “missing” means
A cosmetic can appear to be missing for several different reasons. The account may not be the one that bought or earned it; a filter or archive setting may hide it; a pack style may be stored inside another cosmetic; or only the name, description, or rarity label may be absent while the item itself remains available. Use the branch that matches what you see rather than treating every symptom as a deleted entitlement.

Record which symptom applies before changing anything. For example, an Outfit that can be equipped but has no description is not in the same state as a Pickaxe that is absent after every filter is removed. This distinction keeps you from trying an irrelevant fix or purchasing the same content again.

1. Confirm the Epic account that owns the cosmetic
Start outside the Locker. Make sure Fortnite is signed in to the Epic Games account associated with the purchase, code redemption, Battle Pass entitlement, or other source of the cosmetic. This is the most important check when more than one Epic account, console profile, or household account is involved.
- Find the purchase or entitlement email for the missing cosmetic. Search for the receipt or confirmation message rather than relying on memory of which profile was active.
- Note the recipient email address on that message.
- Compare it with the email address of the Epic account currently connected to Fortnite.
- If the addresses differ, sign in to the account that received the entitlement and check its Locker.
Use the exact account currently shown by Epic, not merely the name of a console profile. Two people can use the same device while their entitlements remain attached to different Epic accounts. Likewise, an item bought while another account was signed in will not be established as owned just because the same platform is now being used.
Epic’s official missing-item procedure begins with this account check: I’m missing an item from my Fortnite Locker. Do not assume that linking a different platform profile transfers an entitlement between separate Epic accounts; first establish which account received it.

A missing receipt does not prove that the item was never granted, but matching the account email remains the cleanest first test.
2. Check whether Fortnite reported a removal
Did the game show a message saying that the item or V-Bucks were removed? If so, this is not an ordinary search problem. Follow the removal-specific support route described by Epic instead of repeatedly changing Locker filters. Keep the relevant receipt, account email, and the wording or screenshot of the in-game message available for the support request.
A removal notice changes the question from “where is the item?” to “why was the entitlement removed?” Filters, Archive, and the Edit menu cannot reverse an account action. Use the support instructions that correspond to the notice so Epic can review the account-specific event.
If Fortnite did not display a removal message, continue with the Locker visibility checks below. The absence of a message does not prove ownership, but it means the normal search path is the appropriate next step. Do not infer a removal solely from an empty category before checking the account, filters, and Archive.

Fortnite separates cosmetics by type. Open Locker, then choose the category matching the missing item: for example, Outfit, Back Bling, or Pickaxe. A cosmetic will not appear in a different type’s list, even when the items were sold together in one pack.
Search each relevant category deliberately rather than scanning the entire Locker. If you are unsure which type you received, use the purchase description or pack contents to identify whether you are looking for an Outfit, Back Bling, Pickaxe, glider, emote, wrap, or another cosmetic class.

Pack marketing can make several contents look like one item, but each content type has its own Locker location. Check the base cosmetic first, then check the other categories listed in the offer. Looking only under Outfits, for example, will not locate a Back Bling from the same bundle.
Once you are in the correct category, note whether the list is completely empty, merely shorter than expected, or contains the base item without the appearance you expected. Those observations determine whether the next step is filters, Archive, or styles.

4. Clear every Sort and Filter option
A selected filter can hide an owned cosmetic without changing the account. In the relevant Locker category, open Sort and Filter, turn off active filters, and apply the change. Check for restrictions such as favorites, rarity, season, search text, or other narrowed views that may have been left enabled during an earlier session.
- Open Locker.
- Select the category where the cosmetic should appear.
- Choose Sort and Filter.
- Disable each active filter and remove any search term.
- Apply the settings, then scan the full category again.
Clear the controls even if you do not remember setting them. A view configured during an earlier search can remain active and make the results look like an entitlement list. Apply the unfiltered view before concluding that the item is absent.
Epic includes clearing filters in its missing Locker item guidance because visibility settings can make an owned item look absent. If the item appears after filters are cleared, no account transfer or repurchase is needed; the change was only to the way the list was displayed.
5. Look in Archived items
Archiving hides a cosmetic from the normal Locker and Emote Wheel; it does not delete the cosmetic from the account. Epic explains the feature in What is the Archive feature in Fortnite and how does it work?.

- Open Sort and Filter.
- Enable the option to show Archived items.
- Locate the cosmetic in the archived results.
- Open its item menu and choose Unarchive Item.
Archived results are particularly important when an item was visible previously and then disappeared after cleaning up the Locker. The archive state changes visibility, not ownership. It also explains why searching the ordinary category alone can produce no result even though the account still has the cosmetic.
After unarchiving, return to the normal Locker view. The cosmetic should be available in the category again, and an unarchived item remains tied to the same Epic account. If it does not appear after you unarchive it, repeat the category and filter checks before moving to support.
Do not treat Archive as a deletion or as evidence that a purchase failed. It is a built-in way to hide cosmetics from the standard Locker and Emote Wheel while retaining them on the account.

6. Check whether the “missing” content is an included style
Some packs provide one cosmetic with several selectable styles rather than listing every appearance as a separate Locker item. If the base Outfit, Back Bling, or other cosmetic is present but the expected variant is not, select that item and choose Edit to view its available styles.

Epic documents this case in I can’t see the styles in my Locker after purchasing or receiving a pack in Fortnite. The style list is reached from the owned cosmetic itself, so searching for a second item with a different name can give the wrong impression that the pack is incomplete.
Check the Edit view on every included cosmetic, not only the Outfit. A pack can place its alternative appearance under the relevant base item, while the pack name itself does not appear as a separate selectable entry. Compare the expected contents with the item’s own style list before contacting support about a supposedly missing variant.
This check answers a different question from account verification. Finding the base cosmetic proves where to look for its styles, but it does not establish ownership of unrelated items from another account or resolve an explicit removal notice.
7. Re-add a style that will not save to a preset
If you can select the desired style in the Locker but a saved preset keeps reverting or displays the wrong appearance, refresh the cosmetic inside that preset. Epic’s procedure is to remove the cosmetic from the affected preset and add it again with the desired style; see The style of my cosmetics isn’t saving in the Fortnite Locker.

- Open the preset that shows the wrong style.
- Remove the affected cosmetic from that preset.
- Add the same cosmetic again.
- Choose the intended style when adding it.
- Save or leave the preset, then reopen it to confirm the selection.
Test the cosmetic directly in the Locker as well as inside the preset. If the desired style is available directly but not retained by one preset, the symptom is tied to that preset’s saved selection. Re-adding it refreshes the selection without changing the underlying entitlement.
This procedure addresses a style-selection or preset state problem. It does not recover an entitlement that belongs to another account or was explicitly removed. Do not report a style as absent merely because a preset is still showing an earlier choice.
8. Tell a missing cosmetic apart from missing details
Epic has reported an issue in which some cosmetic details, including names and descriptions, may not display as expected. The notice concerns item information on screen; it is not proof that the cosmetic entitlement was revoked. If the item can still be selected or equipped while its text is absent, treat the symptom as a metadata display problem and check Epic’s current notice for status: Why are item descriptions missing in my Fortnite locker?.
Status notices can change as a fix is deployed, so use the linked support page for the latest wording. Do not buy the cosmetic again merely because its name or description is temporarily missing.

Use an equipment test as a practical distinction: an item that remains selectable is present even if its descriptive text is not rendered. An item that cannot be found after the account, category, filter, Archive, and style checks is a separate entitlement or visibility case and should follow the support path.

Fortnite retired its old cosmetic quality color and tag system with version v29.20. Consequently, an owned cosmetic may no longer show the rarity color or label you remember from an earlier interface. Epic explains this display change in Why can’t I see the rarity of my cosmetic items in Fortnite?.
Use the item’s presence in the correct category, its ability to equip, and its available styles to determine whether you own it. The absence of the retired rarity indicator is a presentation change, not by itself evidence of a missing purchase.
Rarity and entitlement are separate properties. A cosmetic can remain usable while its former color or tag is no longer shown, so do not use the old rarity presentation as the sole test of whether an item is in the account.
10. Contact Epic Support when the item is still absent
After verifying the account, checking for a removal message, clearing filters, viewing archived items, and inspecting styles, use Epic’s support-ticket path if the cosmetic still cannot be found. The official starting point is I’m missing an item from my Fortnite Locker.
Include information that lets support match the entitlement to the correct account:
- The Epic account email currently used in Fortnite.
- The email address on the purchase or entitlement receipt, if available.
- The cosmetic’s exact name and the pack, offer, code, or event that supplied it.
- The platform on which the entitlement was purchased or claimed.
- Whether Fortnite displayed a removal message.
- What you found in the category, filter, archive, and Edit-style checks.
- Screenshots of the receipt, relevant account information, or in-game message, with unnecessary payment details hidden.
Describe the symptom precisely: say whether the base item is absent, a style is absent from Edit, a preset will not retain a style, or only descriptive text is missing. This prevents a visibility question from being confused with a removal case or a metadata notice.
Do not create duplicate tickets for the same entitlement while waiting for a response; keep the case focused on the account and item that remain unresolved. Epic’s support route is the appropriate escalation after the documented Locker checks, not a reason to buy the cosmetic again.
Quick decision checklist
- Wrong account suspected: compare the receipt recipient with the current Epic account email.
- Removal message shown: use the removal-specific support instructions.
- Item absent from one list: open the correct cosmetic category.
- Search returns too few results: clear Sort and Filter settings.
- Previously hidden item: show Archived items and choose Unarchive Item.
- Pack variant missing: select the base cosmetic and open Edit for styles.
- Preset changes back: remove the cosmetic from that preset and add it again with the desired style.
- Only text is missing: consult Epic’s item-description status notice.
- Only rarity color is missing: remember that the old rarity system ended with v29.20.
- Still unavailable after all checks: submit the Epic Support ticket with entitlement details.
What not to do while troubleshooting
- Do not repurchase immediately. Archive, filters, styles, and display issues can all mimic a missing purchase.
- Do not switch accounts at random. Use the receipt recipient to identify the account tied to the entitlement.
- Do not treat a missing label as a missing item. Names, descriptions, and retired rarity indicators are display information.
- Do not stop after checking only one category. Pack contents can belong to different cosmetic types.
- Do not omit the removal notice from a support request. Its presence sends the case down a different support route.

Can I recover an archived Fortnite cosmetic?
Yes. Open the relevant Locker category, use Sort and Filter to show Archived items, select the cosmetic, and choose Unarchive Item. Archive hides the cosmetic from the normal Locker and Emote Wheel without deleting it.
