Error 0x0093E047 is not identified in Microsoft’s published Windows 10/11 Device Manager codes, Win32 system errors, MS-ERREF specifications, or Device Manager error-message table reviewed for this guide. That means Windows alone does not tell you which component generated it. The reliable fix is to identify the screen or program that displayed the value, then follow the repair path for that source.
The code is not, by itself, proof of malware, a failed driver, or a Windows Update problem. Device Manager, Windows Update, setup logs, and individual applications use different error systems, so applying a generic “fix” before finding the source can make diagnosis harder.

What error 0x0093E047 means
Microsoft documents several separate error families. Win32 applications receive system-error values through GetLastError and can turn them into readable text with FormatMessage. Device Manager presents its own status-code list. Installation programs and third-party applications may use private values that never appear in Microsoft’s public tables.
0x0093E047 was not found in the Microsoft references checked for Windows 10 and Windows 11. This is a documented absence from those lists, not proof that no private Windows component or third-party program can emit the value. Until the originating component is known, there is no responsible code-specific repair or claim that it is safe to delete a file, change the registry, or replace a driver.

First, capture exactly where the code appears
Do not rely on memory or a cropped screenshot. Record the complete message and its context before closing the window.
- Copy the complete text. Preserve the leading zeroes, capitalization, punctuation, and any text before or after the code. A value such as
0x0093E047may be different from a nearby-looking value. - Record the source. Note whether it appeared in Device Manager, Windows Update, Event Viewer, a Windows setup or recovery screen, or a named application.
- Write down the time. Include your time zone if you will send logs to support.
- Identify the affected device or program. Record the device name and hardware vendor, or the application name and version.
- Record Windows details. Open Settings > System > About and note whether the system is Windows 10 or Windows 11, the edition, and the OS build.
- Capture related evidence. Save an event entry, setup-log excerpt, or screenshot showing the message and the action that triggered it.
This information determines which documentation and support team can interpret the value. Without it, the same hexadecimal string could be misattributed to a driver, update service, installer, or application.
If Device Manager shows 0x0093E047
Device Manager is the most likely source when the message is attached to a particular adapter, controller, printer, graphics device, audio device, Bluetooth device, Wi-Fi device, USB device, or other hardware entry.

Read the device status
- Press
Windows+R, typedevmgmt.msc, and pressEnter. You can also right-click Start and select Device Manager. - Expand the category containing the affected device. A yellow warning icon can help locate it, but do not assume every warning icon represents this code.
- Double-click the device and open the General tab.
- Read the Device status box. Copy its complete wording, not just the hexadecimal value, and note the device’s exact name and manufacturer.
Microsoft’s Device Manager guidance says that if an error code is not in its list, you should contact the hardware device vendor’s technical support or Microsoft Support. Because this value is not in the reviewed list, preserve the status text for that escalation rather than assigning it a familiar code number.
Restart before changing anything
Choose Start > Power > Restart, wait for Windows to load fully, and check the same Device status box again. A restart can clear a temporary enumeration or service state; it does not establish the underlying cause. If the code returns, continue with the driver steps below.
Update or reinstall the device driver
- In the device’s Properties window, open the Driver tab.
- Select Update Driver, then choose Search automatically for drivers. Follow the prompts and restart if Windows requests it.
- If Windows reports that the best driver is already installed but the status remains, obtain the current driver from the hardware manufacturer’s official support site. Match the download to the exact model, Windows edition, architecture, and build.
- Return to the Driver tab and select Uninstall Device only when you have the correct replacement package or a clear recovery plan. If offered, select the option to remove the driver package, then restart Windows so it can detect the hardware again.
- Install the manufacturer’s package, restart, and check Device status once more.
Do not install a driver merely because its version number is newer. A mismatched package can create a second problem, particularly for graphics, storage, chipset, and network hardware. Keep the original driver package or a restore option available before uninstalling.

When the status still shows the unknown value
Stop repeating driver changes when the complete status text and code are unchanged. Contact the device vendor with the device name, hardware ID if shown on the Details tab, Windows edition/build, driver version, and the time the error recurred. Also provide Microsoft Support with the same information if the vendor cannot identify the value. Microsoft explicitly directs users to the vendor or Microsoft Support for unlisted Device Manager codes.

A program may show 0x0093E047 in a dialog, crash report, log, or installer window without it being a Windows system error. The application name and version are therefore essential.
Identify the emitting program
- Read the window title and the text surrounding the code.
- Check Task Manager (
Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for the program that was running when the message appeared. - Reproduce the action once, if it is safe to do so, and note the exact sequence. Record whether the error appears at launch, during sign-in, while opening a file, or during an update.
- Open the application’s own log or diagnostic page and save entries timestamped at the failure.
Use the application’s support path
Search the application’s official documentation for the complete value and message. If no entry exists, send the vendor the log, application version, Windows build, reproduction steps, and whether a restart changes the behavior. Avoid deleting application folders or downloading replacement DLL files from random websites; those actions can remove useful logs or introduce an unrelated binary.

For administrators or developers, Microsoft documents that Win32 errors are returned by GetLastError and that FormatMessage with FORMAT_MESSAGE_FROM_SYSTEM can retrieve the corresponding system text. If the value is not translated by that system table, the application should consult its own error definitions and logging code rather than labeling it a standard Windows error.
If Windows Update or setup logs show it
Windows Update
- Open Settings > Windows Update in Windows 11, or Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update in Windows 10.
- Select Update history and locate the entry at the same date and time as the message.
- Record the update identifier, its success or failure state, and the full accompanying text.
- Use that record when contacting Microsoft Support. Do not assume the hexadecimal value is a standard Windows Update code simply because it appeared during an update.
If the code appeared in a manufacturer’s updater or a security product rather than the Windows Update page, use that product’s support channel instead. The originating program, not the timing alone, determines the correct remedy.
Windows installation or recovery
Write down whether the code appeared during an upgrade, clean installation, recovery, or a driver-loading phase. Preserve the setup or recovery log named by the screen and note the disk, partition, or device selected when the failure occurred. Give those details to Microsoft Support or the hardware or software vendor responsible for the installer. A generic registry cleaner, driver package, or reinstall recommendation cannot be tied to this exact value from the available documentation.
Checks that prevent a wrong diagnosis
- Verify the code character by character. Compare the screenshot and copied text; hexadecimal values are easy to transpose.
- Separate the source from the symptom. A code in an application window is not automatically a Device Manager code, even if a device was involved in the task.
- Test after one controlled change. Restart, then make one driver or application change and record the result. Changing several components at once removes the evidence needed to identify the cause.
- Keep recovery information. Before uninstalling a driver or changing an installation, ensure you can return to the previous driver or restore the application.
- Do not treat an unlisted value as a diagnosis. The absence of
0x0093E047from Microsoft’s tables means the subsystem remains unknown.
When to escalate and what to send
Escalate when the code returns after a restart, when the Device Manager driver has been updated or reinstalled without changing the status, or when an application’s official documentation does not recognize the value. Send a concise evidence package:
- the exact message and code, including leading zeroes;
- the screen, application, or log that displayed it;
- Windows 10 or 11 edition and build;
- device name, hardware vendor, driver version, or application version;
- the date and time, including time zone;
- what changed immediately before the failure;
- what happened after a restart and after any driver reinstall;
- the relevant event, setup, or application log excerpt.
For an unlisted Device Manager value, Microsoft’s published direction is explicit: “If you are getting an error code that isn’t listed here, you can contact the hardware device vendor’s technical support or Microsoft Support for help.”
