If Crunchyroll is missing from your PS5, first determine whether the app is not installed, its tile is hidden, or the app opens but stays on a loading screen. Those symptoms have different fixes. Start by testing another online app and the PS5 connection, then close and restart Crunchyroll, restart and update the console, perform Crunchyroll’s full power-off procedure, and reinstall the app. Use Safe Mode cache or database options only after those lower-risk steps.
Do not jump to Reset PS5 or reinstall system software for a single streaming-app problem. Sony says reinstalling PS5 system software deletes all console data. The sequence below separates network, app, account, regional, and console causes so you can stop as soon as the relevant fix works.

First, identify what “not appearing” means
“Crunchyroll not appearing on PS5” can describe three different conditions:
- No app tile on the home screen: the app may still be installed but absent from the current row, or it may not be installed.
- Crunchyroll is absent from your installed apps or library: search the official PlayStation Store on the console and check the region of the PlayStation account. The support pages below explain troubleshooting, but they do not provide a current, region-by-region availability list, so do not assume the app is offered in every country.
- The app opens but never finishes loading: this usually requires connection, app, service, sign-in, or console troubleshooting rather than a store search.
Knowing which case you have prevents you from repeatedly reinstalling an app that is already installed or changing network settings when the real issue is regional availability.

1. Check whether the PS5 itself is online
Before changing Crunchyroll, open another internet-connected app on the same console. If that app also cannot connect, focus on the network first. If other apps work normally, skip repeated router troubleshooting and continue with the Crunchyroll-specific steps.
Run the built-in connection test
- On the PS5 home screen, open Settings.
- Choose Network.
- Open Connection Status.
- Select Test Internet Connection.
A failed test points toward the console’s connection, Wi-Fi, router, DNS, or internet service. A successful test does not prove that Crunchyroll’s service is available, but it makes a general PS5 outage less likely.
Use a wired connection only as a diagnostic
If Wi-Fi appears unstable and you have a suitable Ethernet cable, connect the PS5 to the router temporarily and run the test again. A wired result can show whether wireless interference or signal quality is involved. It is optional, not a guaranteed Crunchyroll fix: a cable cannot repair a Crunchyroll service incident, an account problem, a regional restriction, or a damaged app installation.
When several apps fail, restart the router according to its manufacturer’s instructions, verify that other devices can reach the internet, and contact your internet provider if the connection remains unavailable. Do not keep deleting and reinstalling Crunchyroll while the console cannot reliably reach online services.
2. Close Crunchyroll and restart the PS5
Close and reopen the app
Exit Crunchyroll completely rather than leaving it suspended. Return to the home screen, highlight the Crunchyroll tile, press the controller’s Options button, and choose the close option shown by your current PS5 software. Open the app again. This clears a one-session hang without changing your account or console data.
Restart from the power menu
Use the PS5 power menu and choose Restart PS5. Do not confuse a restart with leaving the console in Rest Mode; a restart reloads the operating system and app processes. After the home screen returns, launch Crunchyroll before opening several other apps so you can see whether the restart changed the symptom.
3. Install pending app and system updates
Check Crunchyroll for an update
Highlight Crunchyroll on the PS5 home screen or in the installed-app area, press Options, and use the available Check for Update command. If the console reports that the latest version is already installed, continue rather than repeatedly checking.

Check PS5 system software
- Open Settings.
- Go to System.
- Choose System Software.
- Open System Software Update and Settings.
- Select the available update command and allow the console to finish before launching Crunchyroll.

4. Perform Crunchyroll’s full power-off procedure
Crunchyroll’s PlayStation troubleshooting section specifically covers PS4 and PS5 and recommends a complete power-off and unplug sequence when loading problems persist. This is more thorough than merely selecting Rest Mode.
- Hold the PlayStation button to open the quick menu.
- Choose Turn Off PS5 (the wording can vary slightly with system version).
- Wait until the front power indicator has stopped blinking and the console is fully off.
- Unplug the PS5 power cable.
- Wait briefly, reconnect the cable, and start the console.
- Open Crunchyroll and check whether it now reaches the home screen or video catalogue.
The sequence is documented in Crunchyroll’s PlayStation troubleshooting section at Crunchyroll Help Center’s PlayStation guidance. If the app still fails, proceed to a clean reinstall instead of repeating the power cycle indefinitely.
5. Uninstall and reinstall Crunchyroll
Reinstalling replaces the local application files. It does not repair a wider internet outage, make an unsupported region available, or guarantee that a Crunchyroll account will sign in, so use it after the connection, restart, update, and full power-off checks.

- Press the controller’s Options button.
- Choose Delete and confirm. If the tile is not on the home screen, locate Crunchyroll in the installed-app or library view and use its Options menu there.
- Open the official PlayStation Store on the PS5.
- Search for Crunchyroll and select the official app listing available to your account’s region.
- Choose Download or the equivalent install command and wait for the installation to complete.
- Launch the app, sign in, and test both browsing and playback.
If the app cannot be found in the store after deletion, check the PlayStation account’s country or region and whether the service is offered there. Do not infer universal availability from the existence of a Crunchyroll help article.
Crunchyroll’s general loading article also recommends restarting or updating the app, trying another device to isolate a device-specific fault, reinstalling from the official app store, checking the internet connection, and considering regional restrictions. 6. Separate an app problem from an account or service problem
Test the same account on another device
If Crunchyroll works on another supported device using the same account and network, the PS5 installation or console environment becomes more likely as the cause. If it fails everywhere, check for a service-side incident, account issue, or regional limitation rather than repeatedly modifying the PS5.

Check sign-in separately from loading
An app that displays a sign-in screen but does not authenticate has a different symptom from an app that cannot open. Follow Crunchyroll’s current QR sign-in instructions at Crunchyroll’s QR code sign-in help page if you choose that sign-in method. Keep the phone or browser session and the PS5 session associated with the same account, and record any exact error shown.

Temporary service problems can affect only Crunchyroll while every other PS5 app works. In that case, waiting and trying again later may be more appropriate than a factory reset. Regional catalog and app availability can also differ; the relevant account region and location should be included when contacting support.
7. Use Safe Mode only after ordinary reinstall troubleshooting
PlayStation’s broader app and game-launch guidance lists Safe Mode options such as Clear Cache and Rebuild Database for persistent app-update or launch problems. These options are not the first response to one streaming app that has not yet been restarted or reinstalled.
- Read Sony’s current Safe Mode instructions before entering the menu: PlayStation’s game-launch troubleshooting page.
- Back up anything important and close your apps normally first.
- Enter Safe Mode exactly as Sony describes for the PS5 model and choose the intended cache or database option.
- Do not select a reset or system-reinstallation option merely because it appears in the same menu.
- After the operation completes, start the PS5 and test Crunchyroll again.
Clear Cache and Rebuild Database address console data management and indexing; they do not fix a Crunchyroll outage, account suspension, unsupported region, or failed internet connection. If the symptom concerns missing purchased PlayStation content rather than Crunchyroll streaming, Sony’s separate license-restoration instructions may be relevant. Restoring licenses is not established as a routine fix for the Crunchyroll app itself.
Do not reinstall PS5 system software as an early fix
Reset PS5 and Reinstall System Software are high-impact operations. Sony states that reinstalling PS5 system software deletes all console data. They can remove games, saves that are not backed up, captures, settings, and user data. A single app that fails to load does not justify that risk while connection testing, updates, a full power cycle, reinstalling the app, and Safe Mode cache/database options remain untried.

- The exact symptom: missing store listing, missing home-screen tile, crash, blank screen, spinner, sign-in failure, or playback error.
- The full error text or code, copied exactly or photographed.
- Whether another online app works and the result of Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection.
- Your country or PlayStation account region, without assuming that another region has the same catalog or store listing.
- The PS5 system-software version and Crunchyroll app version, if displayed.

Contact Crunchyroll when the PS5 can connect, other apps work, and the failure is limited to Crunchyroll, especially if the same account or service fails elsewhere. Contact PlayStation when the store listing, installation, system software, multiple apps, or console networking is involved. Include the steps already completed so support does not send you through the same sequence again.

How to know when you are finished
The troubleshooting is complete when Crunchyroll appears in the correct store or installed-app location, opens without an indefinite loading screen, authenticates the intended account, and can browse and play a title while another PS5 app remains usable. If only Crunchyroll continues to fail after a clean reinstall and the network test passes, preserve the error and version details and escalate rather than erasing the PS5.
