Fix Haunted by Daylight problems by identifying the failure layer first. A crash or freeze usually requires updates, file verification, a clean boot, or a reinstall. Rubber-banding, queue failures, and repeated disconnects point to your network, a platform service, or Behaviour Interactive’s servers. Error 107 follows a network disconnection and reconnection; Error 130 means the game is under unusually heavy launch demand.
The latest official event guide covered October 14 to November 4, 2025. Those dates are not a 2026 schedule. No authoritative 2026 event timetable or 2026-specific fix list is established here, so confirm the current event details and server status from official Dead by Daylight channels before troubleshooting an event-only issue.

Start by separating a crash from a connection problem
The fastest fix depends on what actually fails. Reinstalling the game will not repair a platform outage, and changing graphics settings will not cure packet loss. Use the symptom and its timing to choose the correct branch.

Record the platform, the exact error text, and where the failure occurs: launch, lobby, loading screen, inside a Trial, or after the match. That information distinguishes a reproducible client fault from a service-wide incident.

PC crashes and launch failures
Behaviour Interactive’s official PC sequence is deliberately conservative: confirm requirements, update the software stack, verify files, perform a clean boot, and reinstall only if the earlier checks fail. Work in that order because each step is reversible and can reveal the cause.
1. Confirm the computer meets the game’s requirements
Check the current Dead by Daylight system requirements for your edition and operating system. Compare the processor, graphics hardware, memory, storage space, and supported Windows version with your computer. If the game only fails on one machine while the same account works elsewhere, hardware or local software becomes more likely than an account-wide matchmaking problem.
2. Update Windows and the graphics and audio drivers
- Open Windows Update and install available updates, including any restart requested by Windows.
- Install the latest driver offered by your graphics-hardware manufacturer for your model and Windows version.
- Update the audio driver as well. Behaviour’s crash guidance specifically includes both audio and video drivers.
- Restart the computer before launching the game again.
Do not assume that a recent game patch makes older drivers safe. A patch can introduce a crash path that an updated driver or later hotfix corrects.

3. Update DirectX
Install the current DirectX components supported by your Windows installation, then restart. DirectX problems can appear as a launch failure or a crash before a Trial starts, so this check belongs before network diagnosis.
4. Verify the installation through your launcher
Use the platform library rather than a desktop shortcut and run its built-in file-verification or repair command for Dead by Daylight. Steam and Epic both provide a verification function in the game’s management options. The process compares local files with the platform copy and replaces damaged or missing files without deleting your account progress.
After verification, launch once with overlays and nonessential background tools closed. If verification reports a repair, test the game before changing several other settings; otherwise you will not know which action helped.

5. Perform a clean boot
A clean boot starts Windows with non-Microsoft services and startup programs disabled, helping identify conflicts from overlays, capture tools, security software, hardware utilities, or other game launchers.
- Press the Windows key, type
System Configuration, and open the matching control. - On the Services tab, select Hide all Microsoft services, then choose Disable all.
- Open the Startup tab and select Open Task Manager. Disable nonessential startup items.
- Restart Windows and test Dead by Daylight from the platform library.
- If the crash disappears, re-enable services and startup items in groups until the conflicting program is identified.
- Return Windows to normal startup after testing so security and other required services are restored.
Do not leave security software or essential device services disabled permanently. The clean boot is a diagnostic state, not a performance tweak.
6. Consider patch history before changing hardware settings
A September 2024 Dead by Daylight hotfix listed several specific crash fixes while stating that PC performance and optimization issues were still under investigation. If your crash began immediately after an update, note the patch date and exact trigger in a support report. A patch-related regression may require a later game update rather than a local graphics adjustment.
7. Reinstall only after the checks above
Uninstall and reinstall Dead by Daylight if updated drivers, DirectX, Windows, file verification, and a clean boot do not resolve the launch failure. Reinstalling is time-consuming and does not fix a platform outage or an overloaded server, which is why it is the final PC step. Reboot after installation and test with the default configuration before restoring optional overlays or third-party utilities.
Lag, rubber-banding, and repeated disconnects
When the game freezes briefly, snaps your character backward, delays an interaction, or disconnects from a Trial, treat the connection path as the primary suspect. Behaviour Interactive says a wired connection is typically more stable than wireless. The goal is to remove one variable at a time, not to buy a particular networking product.

1. Test the connection you are using now
- If possible, connect the computer or console directly to the router with an Ethernet cable. Confirm that the cable connector fits your device and router and that its length reaches without tension.
- If you must use Wi-Fi, move the router closer to the playing device and reduce walls, appliances, and other sources of interference between them.
- Run a speed test while no large download or upload is active. Record the result and the time of day. A single speed result does not prove that every packet reached the game server, but it can expose an overloaded or disconnected local link.
Do not treat a high headline download speed as a guarantee against lag. Stability, routing, wireless interference, and packet loss can affect a match even when a speed test looks fast.

2. Close competing applications
Pause downloads, cloud synchronization, video streams, browser tabs using real-time media, and other launchers. Close overlays and capture tools while testing. On a shared connection, ask other users to pause large transfers temporarily. This establishes whether congestion is local rather than changing the game itself.
3. Launch from the platform library
Open Dead by Daylight from Steam, Epic, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, or GeForce NOW’s own library interface. This refreshes the platform handoff and avoids a stale shortcut or an incomplete launcher session. Sign out and back in only when the platform itself reports an account or authentication problem.
4. Update every layer
Install pending Windows or console updates, the current game patch, the platform client or firmware update, and current network and graphics drivers where the platform supports them. Mismatched versions can produce lobby failures that look like server lag.
5. Hard-reset the router
- Close the game and any active downloads.
- Power off the router using its normal switch, or unplug it if no switch is provided.
- Wait briefly for the device to shut down completely, then reconnect power.
- Wait until the connection indicators return to their normal state.
- Reconnect the playing device and test one match before resuming other traffic.
A router restart clears a temporary session or routing fault. It does not repair a regional platform outage, so check service status when multiple games or devices are affected.
6. Flush DNS
On Windows, open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
ipconfig /flushdnsWait for the success message, restart the game, and test again. Flushing DNS removes locally cached name-resolution entries; it does not increase bandwidth or solve packet loss caused by Wi-Fi or a failing router.

7. Check NAT and firewall rules
Review the network settings on your platform and note whether NAT is open, moderate, strict, or otherwise restricted. A restrictive NAT can interfere with party, lobby, or matchmaking communication. Make only the changes supported by your router and platform documentation; avoid exposing the device directly to the internet.
On Windows, ensure Dead by Daylight is allowed through Windows Firewall on the networks you actually use. If you add an exception, choose the installed game executable supplied by your platform and keep the firewall enabled. Error 107 guidance specifically calls out adding Dead by Daylight as a Windows Firewall exception when applicable.
Error 107: network disconnect or service interruption
Behaviour Interactive defines Error 107 as occurring after a network disconnection and reconnection. It is not evidence that your graphics card is failing. First determine whether the interruption is local or platform-wide.
Check service status before repeated reinstalls
- Check the online-service status for the platform you are using: Steam, Epic, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, or GeForce NOW.
- Check for a current Dead by Daylight service notice or maintenance message.
- If a platform incident is listed, wait for recovery instead of repeatedly changing files or firewall settings.
- If no incident is listed, follow the Ethernet, router, DNS, NAT, and firewall checks in the network section.
If other games on the same device also disconnect, suspect the local router, ISP path, or platform service. If only Dead by Daylight fails and the status pages are normal, capture the time, platform, region, and exact sequence leading to Error 107 for support.

Behaviour Interactive says Error 130 signifies a large load on its servers caused by many people trying to launch Dead by Daylight at once. This is a server-capacity condition, not a local graphics setting.

- Retry from the platform library rather than launching repeatedly during the same surge.
- If Error 130 is still occurring after 24 hours, contact Behaviour Interactive support and include the platform, region, account identifier requested by support, timestamp, and screenshot of the error.
Changing resolution, reinstalling the game, or replacing a network cable cannot reduce demand on Behaviour’s launch servers. You can still complete the basic connection checks if other services are failing, but do not mistake those checks for a cure for a confirmed Error 130 surge.

When matchmaking is stuck or the lobby disappears
Matchmaking failures sit between local networking and service availability, so use scope and timing to narrow them down.
Only your device or account is affected
- Restart the game and the platform client.
- Verify the game files on PC.
- Check NAT and Windows Firewall permissions.
- Test Ethernet or another network, if available.
- Record whether the failure happens before the queue, while finding a lobby, during loading, or after a match ends.
Several players or an entire platform are affected
Check the platform status page and official Dead by Daylight notices before making local changes. A queue that fails for friends in different locations is more consistent with a service-side incident or scheduled maintenance than with one household’s router.
The lobby forms but loading fails
Run both branches: verify files and update drivers on PC, then check the network path and firewall. A lobby can be created successfully even when a later connection to the Trial server is unstable.

Event content can increase launch traffic and change the places where a problem appears, but it does not create a separate troubleshooting method. The 2024 official guide described the Void Realm, Void Crystals, Captured Haunts, Event Tome rewards, cosmetics, and daily rewards for an October 17–November 7, 2024 event. The 2025 guide covered October 14–November 4, 2025 and again described the Void Realm and daily rewards. A 2022 guide documented the official shop, seasonal Halloween collections, event cosmetics, and Void Energy deposited into Unstable Rifts.
Those mechanics and dates are year-specific. Do not assume that a 2025 reward path, Void interaction, or event window still applies in 2026. Wait for a current official guide before treating a changed menu, reward, or event objective as a bug.
Use this escalation order
- Identify the symptom: crash, lag, disconnect, queue failure, Error 107, or Error 130.
- Check scope: one device, one account, your household, or multiple players and platforms.
- Check service status: especially for Error 107, missing lobbies, and widespread launch failures.
- Apply reversible fixes: restart the game and platform, update software, verify files, and test the connection.
- Change the network path: Ethernet, router reset, DNS flush, NAT review, and firewall permission.
- Use a clean boot: only for persistent PC crashes after the basic software checks.
- Reinstall or contact support: reinstall for a local client failure; escalate Error 130 after 24 hours or any reproducible unresolved fault with complete diagnostic details.
Information to include in a support report
- Platform and launcher, including whether the device is PC, console, or cloud streaming.
- Operating-system version and graphics-driver version for PC.
- Exact error number and wording.
- Event year and the date and time in UTC or your local time zone.
- Where the failure occurs: launch, lobby, loading screen, Trial, or post-match.
- Whether Ethernet, another network, a router reset, file verification, or a clean boot changed the result.
- Screenshot or video showing the error without exposing account passwords or payment information.
That record lets support distinguish a damaged client, a network path, a platform outage, and a server-load event without asking you to repeat the same tests.
