Do not assume that a replacement controller will cure a camera issue that is specific to the game.
The procedure below applies to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions. Nintendo Switch 2 received a separate release announcement on October 6, 2026, including Joy-Con 2 mouse-style controls; do not assume that feature or its behavior applies to other platforms.

First, identify what is actually failing
“The controller is not working” can describe several different faults. A button may produce no input, a stick may drift, the game may be listening to a different device, or the camera may move correctly but feel poorly aimed or positioned. Those cases need different checks.

Write down the platform, controller model, wired or wireless connection, game version, affected input and the date the problem began. That information prevents a general camera complaint from being treated as a hardware fault.

Which versions and controllers are covered?
THQ Nordic lists the original release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game was developed by Purple Lamp in collaboration with Disney Games and published by THQ Nordic.

That list identifies release platforms, not every controller model that will work. Compatibility depends on the platform, the connection method and the game’s current input support. A controller that works with the console is not automatically guaranteed to behave identically in Rebrushed.
How do I fix controller problems in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed?
1. Confirm the game is listening to the right device
- Open Rebrushed’s control, input or settings area from the game’s own menus.
- Check which input device is active and review the displayed button or stick assignments.
- If more than one controller, keyboard or pointing device is connected, temporarily disconnect the devices you are not using.
- Apply any clearly labelled control change, return to gameplay and test the same input again.
Current official information does not document a universal menu name, a complete button map, sensitivity values or a guaranteed reset shortcut. Menu labels and available options can also differ by platform. Use the labels shown by your edition rather than following an unverified button sequence from another platform.

For a wireless controller, check its charge or batteries, turn the controller off and on, and reconnect it through the platform’s normal pairing process. For a wired controller, unplug both ends, inspect the cable and reconnect it directly rather than through an unpowered hub. If the game was launched before the controller was connected, close and relaunch the game after the controller is recognized.

These are diagnostic steps, not a publisher-confirmed Rebrushed fix. They are useful because a partially paired controller can appear connected to the console or computer while sending incomplete input to the game.
3. Test the same controls outside Rebrushed
- Open another game that uses the same controller, or use the input-test facility provided by your platform.
- Move both sticks through their full range and press each affected button.
- Watch for a stick that reports movement while untouched, a button that fails intermittently, or input that changes when the cable or wireless connection is disturbed.
- If possible, repeat the test with a known-good, compatible controller.
If the same stick or button fails in multiple games, the evidence favors the controller, cable, battery or platform connection. Repair or replace that component only after this cross-check. If the controller behaves normally elsewhere, replacing it is unlikely to resolve a Rebrushed-only camera or mapping problem.
4. Check for a recent change
Ask when the behavior started. A problem that appeared immediately after changing control settings, pairing a second device, switching from wired to wireless, or updating the game should be documented separately from a fault that has always existed. Restore only settings that you understand, and change one item at a time so you can identify which change affects the result.

Camera complaints generally fall into three groups: no camera input, unwanted movement, and a camera position or aim that feels wrong despite working input. The game’s central mechanics involve using paint and thinner to alter or restore the environment, and its movement set includes dash, ground pound and sprint. Accurate directional input therefore matters during both exploration and action, but those mechanics do not by themselves diagnose a camera fault.

The camera does not move at all
- Test the right stick or other camera control in an input test or another game.
- Return to Rebrushed’s control settings and confirm that the expected device and camera assignment are active.
- Disconnect any second controller or pointing device that could have become the active input.
- Reconnect the controller and restart the game with only that device attached.
- If the stick works elsewhere but not in Rebrushed, record the platform, game version and exact area or mode where it fails and contact current game or platform support.
Do not infer that the camera has a hidden reset or that a particular button must be held. No current official documentation supplied for this title establishes a universal camera-reset command.
The camera moves without touching the stick
Release the stick and observe whether the movement continues. Reproduce the test outside Rebrushed. A controller that reports movement while untouched in several games has a likely drift or calibration fault. A known-good compatible controller can help isolate that fault, but it is a diagnostic comparison, not proof that the game supports every controller model.
If unwanted movement appears only in Rebrushed, check the game’s available camera and control options, remove other input devices, and note whether the movement happens in menus, gameplay, or only in a particular scene. Those distinctions give support a reproducible symptom instead of an assumption about hardware.

First determine whether the camera responds consistently or whether it accelerates, slows, recenters, or stops in a repeatable situation. Check every camera-related option that your edition actually displays. The official developer-diary material says that the remake’s graphics, camera and interface were improved, but it does not publish a list of camera settings, default sensitivity values or known camera fixes.

Because those values are not established, avoid copying a sensitivity number or reset sequence from a different game. Record the original setting, make one change, test in the same location and restore the prior value if it makes control worse.
How do I reset or recenter the camera?
There is no documented, universal reset-camera procedure in the current official information available for Rebrushed. Treat a claimed shortcut as platform- or version-specific unless it appears in your game’s own controls or current support documentation.
For a camera that is merely pointed in an inconvenient direction, use the normal camera input to reposition it and record whether it stays there. For a camera that snaps, spins or refuses to respond, follow the input isolation steps above. If a reset option is visible in your edition, note its exact label and platform when reporting a problem; do not assume that the same command exists on Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, PC or Switch 2.

Platform-specific checks
Nintendo Switch
- Confirm the intended Joy-Con or compatible controller is assigned to the active player before launching the game.
- If using detached Joy-Con, test each stick and button separately and then test the same controls in another game.
- For a wireless controller, verify charge and pairing; for a wired controller, reconnect it directly.
- Check Rebrushed’s displayed control options rather than importing a button layout from another platform.
Switch control labels can differ from PlayStation, Xbox and PC labels. Describe the physical button and the on-screen prompt when seeking help.

Nintendo Switch 2
THQ Nordic announced Switch 2 availability on October 6, 2026, highlighting higher-resolution visuals, an improved framerate and mouse-style controls with Joy-Con 2. If the problem involves that mouse-style mode, state whether it occurs with Joy-Con 2 motion or pointer-style control, with ordinary stick control, or with both. Do not apply Switch 2 behavior to the original Switch version or to another platform without confirmation.
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
- Check that the console recognizes the intended controller before starting or restarting Rebrushed.
- Test the affected stick or button in another game using the same controller.
- Try the controller over its normal wired connection if the fault occurs wirelessly, then record whether the symptom changes.
- Use the labels and options shown by your edition; a PlayStation prompt does not establish the equivalent Xbox, Switch or PC command.
Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
- Verify that the controller is assigned to the active profile and reconnect it if inputs are missing.
- Compare behavior in another game and, if available, the console’s controller input test.
- Test wired and wireless operation separately when the symptom is intermittent.
- When reporting the issue, identify the console family because Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S can have different system and accessory contexts.
PC
- Confirm that the controller is recognized by the operating system or game launcher before opening Rebrushed.
- Disconnect duplicate input devices temporarily, especially when the game appears to select the wrong device.
- Test the controller in another game or an available input-test tool, then repeat with a direct USB connection if wireless input is unreliable.
- Record whether the fault affects only Rebrushed, only one controller, or every game.
PC setups vary more than console setups because multiple controllers, keyboards, mice and remapping layers may be present. Describe the exact connection type and any input software involved when contacting support.
Does Rebrushed support my controller?
Answer this by naming all three parts of the setup: platform, controller model and connection type. The official platform list confirms where the game is released, but it does not establish a complete compatibility catalogue for every third-party controller or adapter.
- For an original-platform controller, verify that the console or PC recognizes it and that the game displays usable assignments.
- For a third-party controller, test it in another game on the same platform and then in Rebrushed with other input devices disconnected.
- For Switch 2, distinguish Joy-Con 2 mouse-style operation from ordinary stick control.
- Do not treat success in another game as a guarantee that every Rebrushed feature, prompt or camera option will work identically.
If you need a spare for diagnosis, choose a controller explicitly compatible with your platform. That can help identify a faulty existing controller, but it cannot establish that a Rebrushed-specific camera behavior is caused by hardware.
When should you contact support?
Escalate after you have completed the connection and cross-game tests, or sooner if the fault prevents play and is reproducible. The support page for the Steam demo lists [email protected], with THQ Nordic as publisher and Purple Lamp as developer. Because that page concerns the demo, verify the current support route for the full game and for your platform before sending a request.
Include a concise reproduction report:
- Platform and, where relevant, console generation.
- Full game or demo, game version and region if the platform displays one.
- Controller model and whether it is wired, wireless or using an adapter.
- The exact button, stick or camera behavior, including whether the controller is untouched.
- Where it happens: menus, a particular level, a particular action, or all gameplay.
- Whether another game or the platform input test reproduces the fault.
- What changed immediately before the issue began.
- Every in-game setting you changed and whether restoring it altered the symptom.
A short video showing the controller at rest, the on-screen result and the same test in another game can make an intermittent problem easier to diagnose, provided the support channel accepts attachments.
What not to assume
- A controller replacement is not a guaranteed fix for a camera behavior that appears only in Rebrushed.
- A camera-reset shortcut found in a forum or in another game is not an established command for every edition.
- Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 mouse-style feature does not establish equivalent support on Switch, PlayStation, Xbox or PC.
- A controller that works on the console is not automatically confirmed for every Rebrushed input mode.
- The statement that the remake’s camera and interface were improved is a product description, not a published list of fixes, sensitivity values or known issues.
THQ Nordic’s September 17, 2024 developer diary describes the remake’s goal this way: “And while graphics, camera, and interface have been improved, the heart of the game is still there.” That statement confirms an improvement claim, not a troubleshooting procedure. The practical path remains symptom isolation: prove whether the controller fails everywhere, whether Rebrushed alone is affected, and which exact input or camera behavior needs attention.
