Confirm the exact QE50QN80H model before changing anything
Samsung’s UK listing identifies the 50-inch QN80H as QE50QN80HAUXXU, in model family QE50QN80HAU. It is a 2026 Neo QLED 4K television. Regional suffixes can change specifications, firmware packages, and menu labels, so do not assume that a procedure written for the UK model is identical elsewhere.

- Read the label on the television or its packaging.
- Open the television’s device-information area in Settings and record the complete model code, including the regional suffix.
- Open Samsung’s support page for that region and select the exact code before downloading documentation or firmware.
Keep a note of the software version as well. If you later contact Samsung, the complete model code and software version let support staff check the right manual and update package instead of repeating generic instructions for another QN80H variant.

What the UK specification confirms
| Item | UK QE50QN80HAU specification |
|---|---|
| Screen and year | 50-inch Neo QLED 4K television, 2026 model |
| HDMI inputs | Four HDMI ports |
| Wireless networking | Wi‑Fi 6E |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth 5.3 |
| Audio return | HDMI eARC |
| High-frame-rate HDMI | Up to 4K at 60 Hz on HDMI 1–4 |
The model-support listing currently shows a USB firmware package numbered 0100-1204.6, modified 30 June 2026, and an English user manual numbered 2608280, dated 3 September 2026. Those listings can change. They do not say that this firmware fixes Wi‑Fi, HDMI, or audio faults, so treat the version as a compatibility reference, not as proof of a particular repair.
Use a low-risk triage order
Start with observations that separate one cause from another. Write down whether the symptom affects every source or only one, whether another device works on the same network or port, and whether the failure began after a cable, router, source-device, or software change.
- Verify the selected input and the source device’s power or wake state.
- Check the television’s Network Status for internet complaints.
- Reseat cables and perform the prescribed power cycle before replacing hardware.
- Compare another HDMI source, another HDMI port, or a wired network connection when available.
- Use a network reset or other non-destructive reset only when the evidence points to saved settings.
- Reserve a factory reset and service escalation for persistent, repeatable faults.
Samsung’s troubleshooting pages are general Smart TV guidance. They do not establish that every symptom is a known QE50QN80H defect, and no failure-rate study is supplied for this model.

What each comparison tells you
| Comparison | If the symptom changes | What that suggests |
|---|---|---|
| Another device on the same Wi‑Fi | Other devices also fail | Router, internet box, provider, or wider network issue. |
| Another HDMI source on the same port | Only one source fails | Source device, its output setting, or its cable path. |
| The same source on another HDMI port | Picture returns on another port | Original port, connector seating, or input selection. |
| Another channel or program | Delay occurs on one program only | Broadcast processing rather than a television-wide audio fault. |
| Ethernet instead of Wi‑Fi | Wired works while Wi‑Fi does not | Wireless range, interference, or radio-link issue is more likely. |
How to fix a Samsung QE50QN80H that will not connect to Wi‑Fi or the internet
1. Check whether the problem is the internet service or the TV-to-router link
On the television, open Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Connection > Network > Network Status. The labels can differ by firmware; if the path is different, use the QE50QN80H manual for your region.
Network Status is useful because it separates the television-to-router connection from the router-to-internet connection. If the TV reaches the router but the router cannot reach the internet, changing television settings is unlikely to help. Take a photograph or note of the result before resetting anything.
| Observation | Most useful next check |
|---|---|
| Phones, computers, and other devices also have no internet | Investigate the router, internet box, or provider first. |
| Other devices work normally but the TV does not connect | Concentrate on the TV-to-router link and its saved network settings. |
| The TV connects to Wi‑Fi but streaming still buffers | Check network load, distance, interference, and the streaming service’s requirements. |
| The TV sees the network but will not complete sign-in | Check the router’s availability, the TV’s date and time, and whether another band works. |
2. Work through the reversible checks
- Install a television software update if one is offered for your exact regional model.
- Cold-boot the television rather than leaving it in standby, then try the connection again.
- Check that the clock and date are correct. If possible, set them to update automatically; incorrect time information can interfere with network authentication.
- If the router broadcasts separate names, test both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. Samsung notes that 5 GHz is usually faster but has shorter range, while 2.4 GHz generally travels farther through walls.
- Move the router closer or reduce walls and other obstacles. Temporarily reduce competing network traffic so you can tell weak or congested Wi‑Fi from a television fault.
- Restart the router or internet box only when other devices indicate a network-side problem, and allow it to finish reconnecting before retesting the TV.
- If the router is accessible, compare Wi‑Fi with an Ethernet connection. A wired result is a diagnostic comparison: it can show that radio range or interference is the issue, but it is not required for every owner.
An Ethernet cable is therefore an optional diagnostic accessory, not a mandatory purchase. If wired networking works, keep the result as evidence and work on router placement, band selection, or interference rather than immediately replacing the television.

3. Reset only the saved network information when appropriate
If other devices have internet access and the television still cannot join the network after the checks above, use the TV’s Reset Network function and reconnect to Wi‑Fi. This removes the television’s saved network information, so have the network name and password available. If your router uses separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz names, record which one previously worked.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A factory reset is different and more destructive. Samsung places it later in the process because it returns settings to their initial state and removes downloaded content. Do not use it as the first response to a temporary router outage, a service-provider interruption, or a single streaming app problem.
How much internet speed does 4K streaming need?
Samsung UK’s 2026 connectivity guidance says, “For 4K Content: For streaming 4K video, it’s generally recommended to have an internet speed of at least 25 Mbps.” This is a general recommendation, not a minimum specification for the QE50QN80H and not evidence that the television is faulty below that number. Actual needs vary with the streaming platform, the number of connected devices, and simultaneous use. A speed test on a phone can also mislead if the phone is closer to the router or connected on a different band, so compare conditions as closely as possible.
How to fix a QE50QN80H HDMI no-signal or device-detection problem
1. Confirm the source and input before touching the cable
Turn on the console, computer, player, or set-top box and make sure it is awake. Some computers and consoles stop sending a picture in sleep mode. On the television, select the HDMI input that matches the physical socket in use. Selecting HDMI 1 while the cable is in HDMI 3 can look exactly like a failed cable or television.
Check the source’s own display output as well. If another display is available, determine whether the source is producing a signal there. A source that fails on every display needs source-device troubleshooting; a source that works elsewhere but not on the QE50QN80H calls for the cable, port, input, and handshake checks below.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →2. Reseat the cable and follow Samsung’s power-cycle sequence
- Disconnect the HDMI leads from the television and the external device.
- Unplug both the television and the external device for at least 10 seconds.
- Reconnect their power.
- Connect the HDMI cable to the source device first, then connect it to the television.
- If there is still no picture, move the cable to another QE50QN80H HDMI port. The UK model has four inputs.
- Select that new port on the television and confirm that the source is still powered and outputting a signal.
This sequence clears a loose connection and can re-establish an HDMI handshake without changing picture settings. Push connectors fully home but do not force them or bend the cable sharply at the socket.

3. Run HDMI Troubleshooting when the menu is available
Samsung’s guide gives this path: Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > HDMI Troubleshooting. The function and exact labels can vary by model and firmware. Follow the on-screen cable check rather than treating the result as a guarantee that every component is healthy. If the option is absent, continue with the source, port, cable, and power-cycle comparisons and consult the exact manual.
4. Isolate the failed part
| Test result | What it points toward | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| One source fails, while another device works on the same port and cable | The source device, its output setting, or its connection | Check that source’s power, wake state, output settings, and documentation. |
| The same source works on another television or port | The original port, cable seating, or input selection | Repeat the port test and inspect both connectors. |
| Several known-good sources fail on one port | That port or its connection | Use another port temporarily and contact Samsung if the failure persists. |
| Several known-good sources fail on multiple ports after reseating and power cycling | A television-side HDMI fault is more plausible | Document the sources and ports tested and arrange Samsung service. |
| Picture appears but drops out when a particular source mode is selected | Source output mode or cable capability | Check the source documentation and use a certified cable compatible with that device. |
Because the UK specification lists high-frame-rate HDMI up to 4K at 60 Hz on HDMI 1–4, all four ports are listed for that capability on that regional model. Do not generalize this statement to a different regional suffix without checking its specification.
When should you replace the HDMI cable?
Do not buy a replacement before reseating the existing cable, checking source power, trying another input, and running HDMI Troubleshooting where available. If those checks implicate the cable, Samsung advises trying a new cable that is certified and compatible with the connected device. Compatibility matters because the source determines the signal requirements; there is no evidence that one particular cable model is required for every QE50QN80H owner.

A practical search description is certified HDMI cable compatible with your device. Replace the cable only after the tests above make it a likely cause, rather than as a blanket cure for every no-signal message. If a new cable changes nothing and several sources fail, return attention to the port or television rather than repeatedly buying cables.
How to troubleshoot audio delay and external-audio problems
First determine where the delay occurs
An audio complaint is not one single fault. Ask three questions: Does the delay affect one channel or program, one input, or every source? Is sound coming from the television speakers or an external device? Did the symptom begin with a particular set-top box, player, or sound system?
| Pattern | Possible path to investigate |
|---|---|
| Only one channel or program is delayed | Broadcaster signal processing can create a sound-picture difference. |
| Only one HDMI input is delayed | Investigate that source device, its connection, or its set-top box. |
| Every source is delayed through external audio | Check the soundbar or receiver path and the television manual for the exact model. |
| Delay changes when external equipment is removed | The external connection or device is involved rather than the television alone. |
| Television speakers are synchronized but a soundbar is not | Focus on the external-audio path and its connection before changing television hardware. |
Samsung’s audio-delay guidance specifically notes that broadcaster processing, a poor external-device connection, or a set-top box can produce the symptom. Comparing sources prevents you from treating a program-specific issue as a failed TV. Note whether the delay is constant or changes when changing channel, input, or audio equipment.

What the QE50QN80H specification does—and does not—tell you
The UK model specification confirms HDMI eARC and four HDMI ports. The available model-specific material does not establish a complete set of sound-output menu steps for every regional firmware, nor does it document every symptom such as no sound, intermittent sound, or an eARC handshake failure.
For those symptoms, open the exact regional QE50QN80H manual and Samsung’s current soundbar or audio-support guidance instead of applying a menu path from another model. Keep the source comparison notes: they will help support staff distinguish a broadcast, source, cable, external-audio, or television problem. Do not infer that eARC support alone proves a particular soundbar, cable, or receiver combination will work without checking those devices’ requirements.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Resetting the TV safely
Use the least destructive reset that matches the evidence
- Source and input correction: changes only what the television is displaying and is the first HDMI check.
- Cable reseat and power cycle: clears many connection and handshake conditions without erasing settings.
- Software update: installs the package offered for the exact regional model; the support listing alone does not promise a fix for these symptoms.
- Reset Network: removes saved network information and requires reconnection.
- Factory reset: returns settings to their initial state and removes downloads. Use it only after simpler attempts fail.
Before any reset, note Wi‑Fi credentials, preferred inputs, picture and audio settings, and app sign-ins you will need to restore. A factory reset can make a temporary problem harder to diagnose by erasing the settings that demonstrate what changed.
Record evidence before a factory reset or service call
- Write down the complete model code and software version.
- For Wi‑Fi, record the Network Status result and whether other devices have internet.
- For HDMI, list each source, port, cable, and result after the 10-second power cycle.
- For audio, note the affected channel, input, source device, and whether external audio is connected.
- Record whether the symptom is constant, intermittent, or tied to one program or source.
These details prevent repeated generic steps and show whether the symptom follows the source, cable, port, network, or television.
When to contact Samsung service
Contact the Samsung support channel for your region when multiple known-good HDMI sources fail on multiple ports after the prescribed checks, or when a repeatable network or audio fault remains after source and connection comparisons. Use the exact model-support page so the technician receives the correct regional documentation.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Replacing a cable first: a wrong input or sleeping source can produce the same no-signal message.
- Blaming the TV when every device is offline: check the router and provider before resetting the television.
- Using a different-region firmware file: regional suffixes matter; select the exact support page.
- Assuming a firmware number is a cure: the listing identifies a package but does not promise a fix for these symptoms.
- Calling a broadcast delay a hardware failure: compare another channel and input.
- Factory-resetting too early: the reset removes settings and downloads and can erase useful diagnostic context.
Quick decision checklist
- Wi‑Fi: open Network Status, test another device, compare 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, check date and updates, then reset network settings if needed.
- HDMI: wake the source, select the matching input, reseat both ends, unplug both devices for at least 10 seconds, reconnect source-first, test another port, and run HDMI Troubleshooting.
- Audio delay: compare channels, inputs, and external-audio paths before blaming the television.
- Cables: replace an HDMI cable only when the tests implicate it, and choose a certified cable compatible with the attached device.
- Resets: keep factory reset until reversible checks are exhausted because it removes settings and downloads.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my QE50QN80H say it is connected to Wi‑Fi but streaming still buffers?
Check whether other devices are using the connection, test the other 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network name, reduce distance and obstacles, and compare with Ethernet if available. Samsung UK gives 25 Mbps as a general 4K-streaming recommendation, but actual needs vary by service and simultaneous use.
What should I do when the TV does not detect an HDMI device?
Wake and power the source, select the input matching the physical port, disconnect both HDMI ends, unplug both devices for at least 10 seconds, reconnect power, connect the source first, and try another TV port. Run HDMI Troubleshooting if that menu is available.
Should I buy a new HDMI cable for every no-signal error?
No. Replace it only after reseating, power-cycling, testing another port or source, and using HDMI Troubleshooting where available point toward the cable. Choose a certified HDMI cable compatible with the connected device.
Why is sound delayed on only one television program?
Samsung says broadcaster signal processing can create a sound-picture difference. Compare another channel, input, or source before assuming the TV has a hardware fault.
Does HDMI eARC guarantee that every soundbar will work?
No. The UK specification confirms eARC capability, but compatibility and menu steps depend on the regional TV firmware and the connected audio equipment. Use the exact manual and Samsung’s current audio guidance.
Will a factory reset fix Wi‑Fi, HDMI, or audio problems?
It may remove problematic saved settings, but it is not a first-line fix. Samsung places it after source, cable, router, update, cold-boot, and network-reset checks because it returns settings to their initial state and removes downloads.
When is a television-side HDMI fault more likely?
When several known-good sources fail on multiple HDMI ports after correct input selection, reseating, and the 10-second power cycle. Record the tested sources and ports before contacting Samsung.
The Bottom Line
Diagnose the path before buying parts or resetting the QE50QN80H. Network Status and another device separate TV-to-router trouble from an internet outage; HDMI source, input, cable, and port comparisons separate an accessory or source fault from the TV; channel and input comparisons help identify broadcast or external-audio delay. Use the exact regional model support page, keep factory reset as a last resort, and escalate persistent multi-device or multi-port failures with your test record.
