As of October 3, 2026, there is no confirmed official fix for campaign collectibles that seem to be missing from the Gears of War: E-Day War Journal. First verify the item and count, then fully close and relaunch the game and check the same save. Treat that as a low-risk diagnostic step—not a proven fix—and protect your save if the mismatch remains.
First confirm it is a campaign collectible issue
This guidance is for an item picked up during the campaign that does not appear to be counted in the War Journal. It is not about multiplayer medals, Coins, cosmetics, or unlocks, which are a separate progression system described in the official multiplayer overview. It also does not apply to a physical Collector’s Edition item; the Collector’s Edition support notice concerns statue components.

Record what you found before changing anything
Write down the act and chapter, the collectible’s name or description, how many items you believe you picked up, and the War Journal count. If the game provides a chapter location list, compare it with your notes: an item that was missed is different from a confirmed pickup that the journal failed to count. Screenshots of the journal and relevant location can help if you need to report the problem.

The available report is one player’s account of an Act 2 discrepancy: they said they picked up 38 collectibles while the War Journal showed 37. The post does not identify which item was involved, establish the cause, or report a successful remedy; it is not evidence that the issue is widespread. Read the player report.

Restart the game and compare the same save
- Fully close Gears of War: E-Day rather than simply returning to the title screen.
- Launch the game again and load the same campaign save you used when picking up the collectible.
- Open the War Journal and compare its count with the one you recorded before restarting.
This is a low-risk check, not a confirmed collectible-tracking fix: no reviewed official source documents it as a remedy for this symptom. Record whether the count changed so you can give support a clear before-and-after account.
Keep your original save intact
Do not delete local or cloud saves as an initial troubleshooting step. No reviewed official guidance recommends erasing them for this problem, and doing so could remove the state you need to inspect. The official E-Day support guide says the campaign allows up to five different playthroughs or states. That gives you a way to preserve the original while using another slot for a separate playthrough, but the guide does not say that another slot fixes collectible tracking.

Contact support if the count is still wrong
If the same save still shows a mismatch after restarting, submit a report through Gears of War support. Xbox Wire also directs players with issues to GearsofWar.com/support in its E-Day early-access launch article. Include your platform, act and chapter, collectible details, the counts before and after restarting, and screenshots if available.

The official Gears of War status page is another place to check, but it showed no current update time or service states when reviewed on October 3, 2026. That means it cannot confirm either an outage or healthy progression services at that time. E-Day entered early access on October 1, 2026, with worldwide launch scheduled for October 6, so support information and game behavior may change quickly.

No official collectible-specific troubleshooting procedure, confirmed known issue, or verified fix was available as of October 3, 2026.
