Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Fix an Attie-generated page by first reproducing the failure at the exact viewport where it occurs, then determining whether the cause is faulty layout code or the browser and deployment environment. Inspect for an element wider than its container, an unsuitable viewport declaration, fixed dimensions, missing responsive rules, JavaScript errors, or blocked assets. Replace rigid sizing with fluid constraints, make media and long text wrap safely, move breakpoints to where the content actually stops fitting, and retest at narrow widths, intermediate widths, zoom, and keyboard navigation. If the source looks correct, hard-refresh the page, clear domain data, disable extensions and content blockers, test another browser, and investigate custom CSS, integrations, server, CDN, and cache conflicts before republishing.
What a “broken” Attie page usually means
AI-generated pages fail for the same fundamental responsive-design reasons as hand-written pages. The generated HTML or CSS may assume a desktop-sized viewport, place a child wider than its parent, or contain no rule for adapting when the available width shrinks. A page can also appear unresponsive even when its layout code is sound: stale cached files, an extension, blocked content, a browser setting, a JavaScript exception, or a deployment cache can prevent the current version from running.

Separate the two classes of failure before editing. A layout defect normally reproduces in more than one browser and leaves a measurable visual symptom such as horizontal overflow, clipping, or an element that is positioned outside the viewport. An environment defect often affects one browser, one profile, the live deployment but not the preview, or only the interactive portions of the page.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsClassify the symptom before changing code
| Observed symptom | First class of cause to test | Useful confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Horizontal scrolling on a phone | An element is wider than the available container, or a fixed width is being preserved at a narrow viewport. | Use developer tools to locate the element whose right edge extends beyond the viewport. |
| Text or cards are clipped | Rigid width or height, an absolutely positioned child, or an overflow rule hiding content. | Temporarily remove the fixed dimension or overflow:hidden and observe whether the content becomes visible. |
| Images, video, tables, or code run off the screen | Replaced content has intrinsic dimensions that are not constrained by its parent. | Inspect the rendered width and apply a container-bound rule, then retest at the smallest failing width. |
| The page looks correct in a desktop preview but fails on a phone | Missing or unsuitable viewport configuration, rigid sizing, or a breakpoint that activates too late. | Reproduce at several widths rather than checking only one desktop and one phone preset. |
| Buttons, menus, or forms do nothing | JavaScript errors, blocked scripts, integration conflicts, or a browser extension. | Check the developer-console errors and test the same URL in another browser profile. |
| Preview works but the published URL does not | Stale browser, server, or CDN cache; a different deployment artifact; mixed content; or a production-only script error. | Compare the live document and loaded assets with the preview, then purge only the cache that contains the confirmed old output. |
A reliable repair sequence
1. Record the failure precisely
- Save the failing URL and note whether it is a preview or published address.
- Record the device or emulated device, browser and version, viewport width and height, zoom level, and orientation.
- Write down whether the defect affects one route, a group of routes, or the whole site. Note whether only layout is affected or interactions are also unavailable.
This record gives you a repeatable test. Without it, a regenerated page can appear fixed simply because it was viewed at a different width or with a warm cache.

2. Reproduce at the smallest failing width
Open the page in browser developer tools and enable the responsive or device emulation view. Drag the viewport narrower until the layout first fails; keep that width visible while inspecting. Also test one or two widths between the working desktop size and the failing phone size. A breakpoint that works at 390 pixels and 1,280 pixels can still leave a broken interval at 620 pixels.
Look for four concrete symptoms:
- a horizontal scrollbar or a child extending past the right edge;
- content clipped because a parent has a fixed height or hidden overflow;
- elements positioned outside their intended grid or stacking order;
- console errors that stop the script responsible for navigation, sizing, or hydration.
To locate wide elements quickly, run this temporary diagnostic in the console:
document.querySelectorAll('*').forEach(el => {
if (el.getBoundingClientRect().right > document.documentElement.clientWidth) {
console.log('Wider than viewport:', el);
}
});
The output identifies candidates; it does not prove that every listed element is the original cause. Inspect the candidate’s own width, padding, margin, transform, and parent constraints.
3. Verify the viewport declaration
A page intended for phones should include a viewport declaration that maps the layout viewport to the device width. In the generated document’s <head>, verify that the declaration is present and not overridden by another template:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
An absent or unsuitable declaration can make a phone render a wide virtual canvas and prevent the responsive rules from activating where expected. Check the published HTML as well as the Attie preview; a deployment template can omit or replace a tag that exists in the editor.

4. Replace rigid dimensions with fluid constraints
Fixed pixel widths and heights are common in generated sections, cards, navigation bars, and hero artwork. Replace a width that must fit every screen with a maximum width and a percentage or flexible track. Let height follow the content unless a fixed aspect ratio is genuinely required.
.section {
width: min(100%, 72rem);
margin-inline: auto;
padding-inline: clamp(1rem, 4vw, 3rem);
}
.card-grid {
display: grid;
grid-template-columns: repeat(auto-fit, minmax(min(100%, 16rem), 1fr));
gap: 1rem;
}
.hero {
min-height: 0;
height: auto;
}
When an existing component uses width: 100vw inside a page with a scrollbar, it can become wider than the content area. Prefer width: 100% for a child that should follow its container. Check padding and borders as well: a nominally 100-percent-wide element can overflow when its box model adds them outside the declared width.
5. Constrain media and other intrinsic content
Images and videos should not exceed their containing block. Tables, embedded documents, and preformatted code need an explicit narrow-screen strategy rather than an assumption that every row will fit.
img, video, svg, canvas {
display: block;
max-width: 100%;
height: auto;
}
.table-wrap {
max-width: 100%;
overflow-x: auto;
}
pre, code.long-value {
max-width: 100%;
overflow-x: auto;
overflow-wrap: anywhere;
}
Use a scrollable wrapper for a table when preserving every column is more useful than forcing unreadably narrow cells. For ordinary paragraphs, headings, email addresses, and long URLs, allow safe wrapping rather than hiding the overflow.
6. Make text and controls wrap safely
Unbroken strings can be the only reason a layout overflows. Apply an appropriate wrapping rule to generated content that may contain long identifiers or links:

}
.flex-row {
display: flex;
flex-wrap: wrap;
gap: .75rem;
}
.flex-row > * {
min-width: 0;
}
The min-width: 0 rule matters for flex children: without it, a child can refuse to shrink even when the parent is narrower. Check navigation labels and button groups for the same behavior; allow them to wrap or change to a stacked layout instead of shrinking text until it becomes unusable.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →7. Move breakpoints to the actual failure point
Do not choose breakpoints solely from device-name presets. Add or move a breakpoint where the content stops fitting. A navigation row that collides at 840 pixels needs a rule near that width, even if the design brief mentions only “tablet” and “mobile.” Test both sides of every breakpoint and at intermediate widths.
.site-nav {
display: flex;
flex-wrap: wrap;
gap: .75rem;
}
@media (max-width: 52rem) {
.site-nav {
display: block;
}
.site-nav a {
display: block;
padding-block: .65rem;
}
}
Prefer content-driven changes—stacking columns, wrapping controls, reducing gaps, or switching navigation—over a long list of device-specific overrides. Fewer rules are easier to maintain when Attie regenerates a component.
8. Check scripts and generated markup
A page can have perfect CSS and still feel unresponsive if a script throws an exception before attaching event handlers. In the console, start with the first error rather than the last cascade of messages. Check for a missing module, a selector that no longer exists after regeneration, a blocked third-party script, or code that assumes a desktop-only element is present.
Inspect the generated HTML for unclosed tags and malformed nesting. An unclosed element can change the browser’s DOM tree, causing styles and event handlers to apply to the wrong region. If a custom script writes markup into the page, validate the resulting structure after it runs, not only the template source.

9. Retest the source fix before clearing caches
Save or republish the layout change, then repeat the exact viewport and zoom conditions recorded in step 1. Test at least one narrower and one wider intermediate width. Only after the source behavior is correct should you purge a deployment cache; otherwise an old artifact can conceal whether the edit worked.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.When the layout is correct but the page is still unresponsive
Refresh the browser’s stored version
Use the browser’s hard-refresh command for the failing URL. If the old behavior remains, open the browser’s site-data controls for that domain and remove its cached files and stored data, then load the page again. A normal reload can reuse stale JavaScript or CSS even after the site has been republished.
Loading and performance guidance for the related browser extension workflow also recommends updating Chrome and the extension when a hard refresh does not resolve the problem. Apply updates before drawing conclusions from an outdated extension or browser build.
Remove extension and privacy-tool interference
Temporarily disable extensions, themes, privacy tools, and content blockers for the affected domain. These tools can block scripts, stylesheets, fonts, or tracking-dependent integrations and can make a working page appear inert. Re-enable them one at a time after the page works so you can identify the conflicting component without leaving the site unprotected.
Compare another browser
Open the same URL in another browser or a clean profile at the same viewport and zoom. If only one browser fails, compare its JavaScript setting, tracking protection, zoom, extension set, and blocked-content messages. If every browser fails, concentrate on the generated HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and published assets rather than continuing to adjust local browser preferences.

Source correction or environment correction?
| Diagnostic question | CSS or HTML correction is more likely when… | Environment or deployment correction is more likely when… |
|---|---|---|
| Does it reproduce across browsers? | The same overflow, clipping, or stacking defect appears in each browser. | Only one browser, profile, or extension setup shows the failure. |
| Is there measurable overflow? | An element’s rendered edge exceeds the viewport or its container. | No element is wider than the viewport and the issue is missing interaction or loading. |
| How many widths fail? | Several narrow or intermediate widths fail at the same content threshold. | The page behaves consistently at every width in one environment but not another. |
| Does preview differ from live? | Both versions contain the same problematic rule or markup. | The live site serves older CSS or JavaScript, a different document, or blocked/mixed-content assets. |
| Does the fix survive zoom and keyboard testing? | It remains usable after zooming and keyboard navigation. | The visual patch works only at one zoom or interaction path, indicating a script, focus, or environment issue still exists. |
Production-only failures to investigate
If the Attie preview works but the published page does not, compare the actual network requests and source output rather than assuming the editor lost the change.
- Server or CDN cache: the live URL may still deliver an older stylesheet, script, or HTML document. Purge the relevant cache only after confirming the new artifact exists.
- Mixed content: a secure page can block assets requested over an insecure connection. Browser developer tools usually identify the blocked request.
- Custom CSS conflicts: a global selector in the production bundle can override the generated component after the preview’s styles are loaded.
- Plugin or integration conflicts: an analytics, form, search, or consent integration can add markup, alter layout, or stop execution with a JavaScript exception.
- Version mismatch: an older runtime, dependency, or generated bundle can interpret the page differently from the preview environment.
- Unclosed HTML: a production-only template fragment can change the DOM tree even when the component looked correct in the editor.
- Server or database errors: a failed request can leave a partial page or prevent the data needed to render controls.
These are also prominent categories in Elementor’s official troubleshooting guidance: cache and plugin conflicts, version problems, unclosed HTML, mixed content, server or CDN cache, custom CSS conflicts, JavaScript or console errors, and server or database issues. The categories apply to any generated site that assembles multiple layers of markup and assets, not only to that platform.
Accessibility checks before you call it fixed
A page that fits one phone screenshot is not necessarily responsive. Perform a final pass that tests how people actually use it:
- Tab through links, menus, forms, dialogs, and custom controls. Focus must remain visible and move in a logical order.
- Zoom the page and confirm that text remains readable without forcing two-dimensional scrolling.
- Check that touch targets do not overlap and that labels do not disappear when controls wrap.
- Rotate or resize the viewport and verify that content remains available at intermediate widths.
- Confirm there is no unintended horizontal scroll and that intentionally scrollable tables or code blocks have a visible, usable scroll region.
- Repeat the checks on the published URL after caches have been refreshed; preview-only validation does not cover deployment differences.
What the available evidence does—and does not—establish
There is no published general statistic establishing what percentage of AI-generated or Attie-generated websites have mobile failures. Treat claims that attach a prevalence rate to Attie sites with caution unless they identify a defined sample and measurement method.
A separate responsive-layout repair study reported a 92% participant preference for repairs produced by the LAYOUT DR technique. Gregory Kapfhammer presented the Althomali et al. (2022) result. That figure describes the study’s repair technique and sample; it is not a failure rate, success rate, or user survey of Attie-generated websites.
Quick Recap
Final pre-publish checklist
- The smallest failing viewport and the first overflowing or mispositioned element were identified.
- The viewport declaration is present in the published document.
- Fixed widths and heights were replaced where content must adapt; media is constrained to its container.
- Long text, URLs, tables, and code have a deliberate wrapping or scrolling behavior.
- Breakpoints occur where the content stops fitting, including intermediate widths.
- The console is free of errors that prevent interaction, and generated markup is properly closed.
- The hard-refreshed page was checked after clearing domain data when necessary.
- Extensions, themes, privacy tools, and content blockers were ruled out as causes.
- The published output was compared with preview, including custom CSS, integrations, mixed-content requests, server/CDN cache, and version differences.
- Keyboard access, zoom, touch targets, and horizontal-scroll behavior were verified on the live URL.
