Fix most Lifestyle Ultra problems by isolating the failing path first: Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth pairing, TV audio over HDMI ARC/eARC, bass-module compatibility, or the control itself. Start with power and source checks, then use the Bose app and status-light signals. A 30-second power reset is safe to try before the much more disruptive factory restore.
Bose lists the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar as sold from 2026 and provides model-specific setup and troubleshooting instructions in its support library. The steps below follow those instructions and distinguish confirmed Lifestyle Ultra procedures from advice documented only for other soundbar models.

Use this order before changing settings
Do not begin with a factory reset. First identify whether the problem affects one input or every input, then work from reversible checks to destructive ones.
Recommended Free Tools
- Check power and status lights. Make sure the soundbar, television and any bass module are plugged in. Note the status-light color and whether it is pulsing, blinking or steady.
- Choose the intended source. TV audio travels through HDMI ARC/eARC; phone and computer playback can use Bluetooth; network playback depends on Wi‑Fi. A failure in one path does not prove that the others are broken.
- Test a second source. If Bluetooth or network playback works while TV audio does not, the likely fault is in TV audio routing, the HDMI connection or HDMI-CEC interaction. That is a practical diagnostic inference, not a Bose guarantee.
- Power-cycle before restoring. Unplug the soundbar and connected accessories for 30 seconds and reconnect them. Keep factory restore as the final software step because it removes account and setup information.
| Symptom | Start here | Most likely path to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Soundbar will not connect to Wi‑Fi | Bose app setup and status-light preparation | Bluetooth discovery, local-network permission and router credentials |
| Cannot connect Bluetooth | Read the blue status light and force pairing mode | Existing Bluetooth connection or wrong device name |
| No audio from TV | Select TV source and verify ARC/eARC | TV routing, HDMI cable, CEC or television software |
| Poor sound | Confirm source, content and audio settings | Interference, source processing or bass-module setup |
| Subwoofer will not connect | Identify the exact bass-module model | Wireless compatibility, interference or required cable |
| Remote does not work | Verify the supplied control and consult the exact-model guide | Model-specific remote procedure not established in the available support material |
Fix Wi‑Fi setup and a soundbar that will not reconnect
Set up Wi‑Fi for the first time
The Bose app uses Bluetooth to discover the soundbar during network setup. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone or tablet before opening the app. If the soundbar’s status light is not cycling through colors, press and hold Bluetooth and Volume Down on the soundbar for five seconds. The light should blink white twice. When it glows green, the product is ready to connect to a new network.

- Open the Bose app.
- Choose Set Up New Product, or tap the plus sign if that is the label shown in your app version.
- Allow the app to use local-network access when prompted. Without that permission, discovery can fail even when the Wi‑Fi password is correct.
- Select the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar when it appears and complete Bluetooth pairing.
- Choose your Wi‑Fi network and enter its password exactly.
- When prompted, confirm that the television is connected through its eARC connection if you are setting up TV audio.
- Use the optional setup screens to add compatible Lifestyle Ultra speakers or a subwoofer if you have them.
These steps are documented in Bose’s Lifestyle Ultra Wi‑Fi setup instructions. Keep the phone near the soundbar and router during discovery, and avoid switching apps while the product is being added.
Reconnect after changing the router or password
A new network name or password requires the changed-network flow rather than ordinary playback controls. Hold Bluetooth and Volume Down for five seconds until the light blinks white twice. Bose says the light then turns solid green when the product is ready for new network details.
- Open the Bose app and open the soundbar’s Wi‑Fi settings.
- Follow the prompts to provide the new network name and password.
- Wait for the app to confirm the connection before closing it.
Use Bose’s different Wi‑Fi network procedure if the app still shows the old network. Re-enter the password rather than assuming the soundbar retained credentials from the previous router.

- If the soundbar never reaches the green-ready state, repeat the five-second button hold and watch for the two white blinks.
- If the app finds the soundbar but cannot finish setup, verify local-network permission and the password.
- If setup succeeds but network playback later disappears, reopen the app and check which network the soundbar is using before resetting anything.
Fix Bluetooth pairing and connection conflicts
Bluetooth status-light behavior tells you whether the soundbar is waiting for a device or already connected elsewhere.

- Slowly pulsing blue: pairing mode is active.
- Steady blue: the soundbar is connected to another device.
- Tap the Bluetooth button on top of the soundbar.
- If the light is steady blue, hold the Bluetooth button for five seconds until it slowly pulses blue. This puts the soundbar into pairing mode for another device.
- Open the phone or computer’s Bluetooth list and select Bose LS Ultra Soundbar, unless you assigned a custom name.
- Wait for a steady blue light and the connection tone.
The model-specific procedure is in Bose’s Bluetooth pairing guide. That guide covers phones and computers as sending devices; it does not establish instructions for pairing Bluetooth headphones or another speaker to the soundbar.
If the phone cannot see the soundbar
- Look at the light first. A steady blue light means another device has the active connection; force pairing mode with the five-second Bluetooth hold.
- Remove stale entries for the soundbar from the phone or computer’s Bluetooth list, then scan again.
- Keep the source device close to the soundbar during pairing and wait for the connection tone before starting playback.
Fix no audio from the TV over HDMI ARC or eARC
TV audio is a separate signal path from Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi. Work through the following checks in order.
Confirm soundbar power and the TV source
- Hold Play/Pause on the soundbar for two seconds to select the TV source.
- When the status light blinks white twice, Bose identifies that indication as power confirmation.
- Tap Microphone Off to verify that the soundbar can produce a response.
- If there is no blink or response, inspect both ends of the power cord and test the wall outlet with another known-working device.
Check the TV’s audio route and HDMI port
- Make sure the HDMI cable is plugged into the television’s port labeled ARC or eARC, not an ordinary HDMI input.
- In the television’s audio menu, select the HDMI ARC/eARC or external-speaker output rather than the internal TV speakers.
- Confirm that the soundbar is still set to the TV source after changing the television’s output setting.
Eliminate CEC and cable problems
Other devices connected to the television can issue HDMI-CEC commands that interfere with source selection or audio hand-off. Temporarily disable CEC on those connected devices and test the TV again.
- Disconnect or disable CEC on connected players, consoles or receivers one at a time.
- Unplug the television for 30 seconds, reconnect it and allow it to restart fully.
- Check the television for available software updates.
- Replace the HDMI lead with another High-Speed HDMI cable with Ethernet and retest the ARC/eARC connection.
Follow Bose’s full no-audio-from-TV troubleshooting page for the model-specific sequence. If Bluetooth audio works but TV audio still does not after these steps, concentrate on the TV’s routing, ARC/eARC port, HDMI cable and CEC configuration rather than repeating Bluetooth setup.

Improve poor or inconsistent sound
Start with the material being played. A low-quality stream, a quiet scene or an audio mix with little bass can sound very different from another source and does not by itself prove that the soundbar is defective.
- Confirm the selected source and play a different known-good program or track.
- Review the television, phone or streaming app’s audio settings for unusual volume limits, night modes or processing.
- Check that the intended bass module or speakers are actually connected and powered.
- Move nearby wireless equipment away from the soundbar and bass module.
- If the issue persists, perform the standard 30-second reset described below.
Bose’s poor-sound-quality guidance specifically recommends checking source and audio settings and looking for nearby wireless interference. Avoid buying an accessory until you have confirmed that the missing sound is caused by a connection problem rather than the source material or a setting.
Fix a subwoofer or bass module that will not connect
Identify the module before trying wireless pairing
Compatibility is the first decision. The Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar supports wireless connection with a Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer carrying the Bose logo on its front. Bose also says an older glass-topped Bose bass module with the logo on top can connect, but only by wire; it should not be treated as a compatible wireless accessory.

|---|---|---|
| Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer with front Bose logo | Wireless | Use the app’s accessory setup and the module’s normal pairing process. |
| Glass-topped Bose module with logo on top | Wired only | Connect a cable; do not wait for wireless pairing. |
| Other or unidentified module | Not established by the model-specific instructions | Verify the exact model before changing settings or ordering cables. |
Reduce wireless interference
- Unplug the bass module for 30 seconds, reconnect it and allow it to boot.
- Move nearby wireless devices at least two feet (60 cm) away from the module and soundbar.
- If your router offers channel-bonding or 40 MHz mode, disable that option or select 20 MHz as a troubleshooting test.
- Retry the connection after the network and module have stabilized.
Test with a wired connection
To determine whether interference is the cause, connect a shielded 3.5 mm cable from the soundbar’s BASS output to the module’s BASS IN. Bose states that a 15-foot (4.5 m) shielded cable is available to order through Bose. The cable is a diagnostic and connection option for a compatible module; it does not make an incompatible module suitable for wireless use.

See Bose’s bass-module connection troubleshooting for the model-specific compatibility and interference checks.
Reset the soundbar without erasing setup
A standard reset is reversible and should precede a factory restore. It clears a temporary power or boot condition while preserving the distinction between a reset and deleting the product from your account.
- Unplug the soundbar.
- Unplug any connected accessory bass module or surround speakers.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Reconnect power to the soundbar and accessories.
- Wait for the status light to pulse white while the soundbar boots.
Use Bose’s standard reset instructions if you want to verify the sequence. After the light returns to its normal state, test the original failing source before changing multiple settings at once.
Use factory restore only when the normal reset fails
Factory restore is disruptive: it removes the product from the Bose account, erases setup state and disconnects wirelessly connected Lifestyle Collection products. You will have to add the soundbar again and configure Wi‑Fi and accessories from the beginning.

- Release the buttons when the status light slowly pulses amber.
- Open the Bose app, add the soundbar and repeat Wi‑Fi setup.
- Reconfigure any Lifestyle Ultra speakers or compatible subwoofer.
Use the exact factory-settings restore procedure. Do not use it as a first response to a single Bluetooth or TV-source failure, because those paths can usually be tested independently.
When the remote does not work
The available Lifestyle Ultra support material does not establish a model-specific procedure for intermittent remote operation, remote pairing, battery replacement, range, interference or reprogramming. Articles covering those details for other Bose soundbars cannot safely be presented as Lifestyle Ultra instructions.
Checks that are supported by the available evidence
- Verify that you are using the control supplied for the Lifestyle Ultra system, not a remote from another Bose soundbar.
- Confirm that the soundbar itself is powered and responds to its top-panel controls. If the top-panel buttons also fail, troubleshoot power before blaming the remote.
- Consult the Lifestyle Ultra Owner’s Guide and the model’s Bose product-support page for the current control layout and model-specific help.
Do not apply battery, range or re-pairing instructions from Bose’s Smart Soundbar 700 article to this model without confirmation. Likewise, HDMI-CEC remote-control advice written for a Smart Soundbar 550 system is not Lifestyle Ultra-specific. If the supplied control remains unresponsive after confirming the model and soundbar power, contact Bose support with the serial number and the exact behavior rather than performing repeated factory restores.

When to contact Bose
Contact Bose support when the soundbar cannot complete app setup after confirming Bluetooth, local-network permission and credentials; when HDMI ARC/eARC still produces no audio after a second cable and TV restart; when a confirmed compatible Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer will not connect after the interference and wired tests; or when the supplied remote remains unusable and the exact-model guide provides no remedy. Have the soundbar’s model, serial number, status-light behavior, connected accessories and the steps already attempted ready for the support representative.
The official model page is Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar product support. It is the safest place to confirm the current Owner’s Guide and any model-specific updates before taking a more destructive action.
