Start by checking when the blur occurs: in every shot, only in low light, with close-ups, or at a particular zoom level. Then clean the camera glass, remove anything covering it, and test focus and steadiness. Samsung documents a specific 80 cm minimum distance for the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5x telephoto camera; Google’s Pixel guidance is general Pixel advice, not confirmed Pixel 11 Pro-specific guidance.
Why are my phone photos blurry?
The pattern is often more useful than a single bad photo. Compare a shot in good light with one in dim light, try a different angle, and note whether the blur appears only with a nearby subject, a moving subject, or one zoom setting. Google recommends changing angle or lighting when diagnosing Pixel image-quality problems. Samsung also lists low light, movement, obstruction, and focus distance among possible causes.

- Blur in all situations: check for dirt, a case, film, or a camera cover blocking the lenses. If the problem remains across modes or apps, software or hardware troubleshooting may be appropriate.
- Blur mostly in dim scenes: camera movement or subject movement may be more visible because the camera has less light to work with.
- Blur on close-ups: the selected camera may be too far from its minimum focus distance; this is especially relevant to the S26 Ultra at 5x.
- Blur at one zoom setting: check whether it matches Samsung’s documented S26 Ultra 3x zoom behavior rather than treating it as a general camera fault.
Remove anything blocking the camera and clean the lenses
Google says, “Something blocking the camera or dirt on the camera lens can cause blur, halos, lines, or color distortions.” Google Pixel Camera Help and Samsung support both identify obstruction or dirt as possible causes.

- Remove the phone case, camera cover, or film if it overlaps the camera area.
- Gently wipe all camera glass with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. Samsung specifically recommends a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
- Inspect the glass for scratches, cracks, dirt buildup, or condensation. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
A camera lens protector is not a reliable blur fix: Samsung warns that a protector can cause focus problems or distort light. If there is visible physical damage or condensation inside the camera, seek support rather than attempting an internal repair.

Set focus and use a workable shooting distance
Pixel: tap the subject and allow enough distance
For Pixel phones generally, Google advises tapping the subject in the viewfinder; a white circle appears and tracks it. Google’s general focus guidance also recommends adequate lighting and keeping the main subject at least 2 feet (60 cm) away. This is not verified as a Pixel 11 Pro-specific minimum distance or behavior. See Google’s photo and video quality guidance.
Galaxy S26 Ultra: account for the 5x telephoto minimum
Samsung specifies a minimum shooting distance of 80 cm for the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5x telephoto camera. A subject closer than that can appear out of focus when high zoom selects that camera. For a nearby subject, frame it with a camera that can focus at that distance rather than forcing 5x telephoto focus.

If a close subject looks sharp but the area around it is blurred, Samsung says the S26 Ultra’s Focus enhancer can reduce close-range blur by switching to the ultra-wide camera. In dim light, a small movement of the phone or subject can soften a photo. Hold the phone steady, improve the light on the subject if possible, and compare a shot with flash to one without. Samsung also advises keeping the phone steady and lighting the subject well.

Pixel Night Sight
Google says both the phone and subject should remain still while using Night Sight. Rest the phone on a stable surface or use a tripod if available, particularly when the subject is not moving. Night Sight cannot compensate for movement by the subject. Google also suggests testing with and without flash as part of diagnosing quality issues; see Google’s Pixel camera quality steps.
Check whether S26 Ultra 3x zoom behavior explains the blur
Samsung documents two effects specific to 3x zoom changes on the Galaxy S26 Ultra: the image on screen may move briefly because of positional parallax, and slight blur may appear in the top-left and bottom-right corners while zoom changes because of autofocus-related lens movement. Samsung recommends keeping device software up to date. This note is about the documented 3x zoom behavior; it does not explain blur at every zoom level or on Pixel phones. When to troubleshoot the camera app or seek service
If the lens is clean and the blur does not follow a particular lighting, distance, or zoom pattern, try Pixel’s general app troubleshooting steps. These instructions apply to Pixel phones generally; they are not confirmed Pixel 11 Pro-specific fixes.

- If quality problems persist, Google’s quality guidance also includes clearing Camera app storage and uninstalling recent Camera app updates.
- Test whether another app can access the camera. Google says camera-access failures across apps may indicate a hardware issue.
Google’s instructions are available in Pixel Camera app troubleshooting and its photo and video quality guide. Persistent blur accompanied by physical damage or internal condensation warrants manufacturer support rather than a user repair.
